Chapter 23

I looked at everyone having smiles on their faces as they walked in the airport step by step.

Me? I have a depressing face, because I knew this would effect my future forever.

Pure happiness is worth more then some semester, doesn't it? Yeah, it does. It's written in the constitution.

I quickly got my plane boarding passes, and then dashed to security. I put my phone in its own box, following with my backpack and suitcase.

Something buzzed.

What was it? I had no clue.

"Ma'am, you can't bring this with you," the guard said, holding up a... wait no. This is funny, he held up the lure that I gave Ash 2 years ago. We both had our own.

"Just mail it to 3816 Kanto College," I chuckled. "I'm surprised it's still in there."

"Alright. It'll come in 2 months."

"K."

I then got everything I put through the metal detector, and ran out of security.

My eyes widened at the main area of the airport. Starbucks booths, even one for McDonalds and Wendy's, scattered the wide open, glass walled area. I looked around, and I saw Dunkin' Donuts, a really popular donut store, over to the right. I can get food once I'm sitting down at my plane number thing.

I ran to the left because the gate that I had to go to was probably on the opposite side of the airport.

I saw kids blowing bubbles, which was surprising because the guards should've taken those up. I also saw some parents chasing after kids that were running off, and some teenagers just playing on their phones. Alright. Almost there. Just make sure not to make a wrong turn.

I spun left, and then I saw the right letter on a sign. Have to keep on running, Misty.

I quickly kept on going, because my number would be at the back of the airport. 10... 9... 8... 7...

My gate was A2. It was so close!! 6... 5... 4...

"YESSSS!!!" I screamed, as I hopped onto the seat. "Finally!"

I was so glad that I finally made it, I could finally rest in a chair.

"5 minutes until boarding!" The flight attendant announced. Food. I forgot.

I haven't had anything to eat all day, and it's- like... 6:00? Chill, Misty. I chuckled at my own weirdness. I knew that I had an addiction to food, but it's only 6:00.

I started walking over to Serena's house. I'm done with this depression, I just want it to all be over! I don't even know why she locked herself up!

I then walked in front of the door, and knocked on it. Knock knock knock.

I heard a knock on the door, good thing Dad was home. I exited my room, and stood on the stairs. Whoever was behind that door definitely couldn't see me, but I could see them.

"Hello?" Dad started, as he opened up the door.

"Hello, I'm Ash."

ASHHHH???

Dad looked at me, and I immediately shook my head, and mouthed, 'no'. He nodded back.

"Why are you here?"

"I've come to see Serena," Ash stuttered.

"Well, she's busy doing- well that's not really relevant to you."

"What do you mean? I'm her friend, and I care about your depressed daughter."

Dang. He really wants to see me.

"Okay fine, I'll tell you. She's busy using up all of the Kleenex in her room, and she's probably just watching Netflix or something."

"Crying?? You aren't even comforting her right now?"

"No, because I've been shedding my own tears!" Dad yelled.

I just realized that Dad was being selfish to me. If he actually cared about my emotions at all, he'd be comforting me, just like Ash said.

I still have to hide everything from him, sadly. I wish I could go and hug him, but I know that if I did that, I'd have to express everything that's happened, and I don't want to do that. I quickly went back upstairs.

"I'm sorry if I'm judging your parenting, but if you were a good parent, wouldn't you care about your child more than yourself?" I asked.

"Uh- what does this have to do with anything??? Leave. Now."

"Okay, bye," I smiled, shutting the door. Like that would stop me.

I opened the gate to the backyard, and I saw a light in a room that had a balcony turn on. That had to be her.

I turned on my phone, and started calling Serena. To my surprise, she actually picked up.

"Ash-" she started.

"Let me do the talking," I interrupted her.

I started climbing up a tree that led up to her balcony.

"I've wanted to talk to you, so much recently."

"I'm so sorry that I didn't pick up! I've just been trying to protect you!"

I was around... halfway up the tree by now.

"Protect me? Protect me from what?"

"From seeing me in this kind of state! It's embarrassing!"

"Nothing about you is embarrassing," I shot back. Three fourths up... "The only thing that's embarrassing about you is that you don't let people in your life, why didn't you respond?"

"Like I said earlier, I was protecting you!"

"Serena, if anyone needed to be protected, it was you," I smiled, though I knew she couldn't see it. I then jumped onto her balcony. "And there's proof - right outside of your door."

I'm mean, I know. Ending the chapter like this... haha. Sorry!
