Running
I woke up and stretched and looked beside me at, a very tired, Alice who was already awake but not wanting to move. "Come on, we have school." I kissed her forehead and got out of bed to get dressed. "Wear something athletic today, its freerunning day." I put on some blue sweatpants and a Nike hoodie.
She groaned and sat up. Alice got up and walked over to her side of the dresser and got out pink sweats and a tank top with a jacket over it. "Well you dressed nicely." She started brushing her hair and smirked slightly. "Are you always so sunshine and rainbows?" I shook my head.
"Nope, sometimes I get grumpy but thats on occasion. You saw a few times." She nodded then hit my arm after I was done getting ready and ran out the door. "Race ya!" I rolled my eyes and ran after her, hopping the rail and landing on a couch then blocking the stairs and catching her in a hug. "No fair! You're my mentor!" I laughed and kissed her cheek.
"Yes I am and that's why I'm teaching you. Now, next time try running on the upper floor and jumping to the recliner to escape me." I stated and put her down. I jogged out and saw the rest of the team waiting for us.
Zack rolled his eyes at Grace who drooled a little bit and pushed her over. "Ah! Zack!!! Good morning Jason." She said in a sing song voice. I blushed slightly and laughed. Zack smiled but rolled his eyes again and ventured out to our meeting spot. I ran past him and wall flipped off the wall and kicked a pincone off a tree before landing.
"Okay team! It's freerunning day which means that today I need you to monitor your group's capabilities of parkour then relay the data to me." I fist pumped and ran into the Cafe. Zack rolled his eyes again and followed me inside, muttering something under his breath.
"Men." Grace simply stated in an exasperated tone. Alice was blushing and shaking her head. "Indeed." Alice replied, still irritated by her flirting nature. They followed us to a booth and sat down. "So, why freerunning?" Grace asked. I sat forward and laced my fingers together. "The Legends aren't just the occupants of the Fifth House, they're versatile, tacticians, and elite, or so they will be. I want that to be this group's niche and a motivation for more students to join each term, plus out there on the battleground, you should learn how to do everything and how to be everything you can be to survive and fight against The Republic." Zack smirked. "Not bad for a cocky, overpowered, and enthusiastic leader."
I shrugged and placed my order. I stared out the window as everything faded into a dull roar and memories flashed by. "You know the battlefield, you owned it at a time before you lead a revolt and the death of others." I felt a slight shock and shook my head. "Huh? What is it?" I asked in a daze, paranoid. The others stared for a moment, seemingly frightened. "Jason, are you okay? I saw but this time it was clear..." Alice looked at me like I was damaged, broken. I sighed and drank my coffee with a straight face. "I'm fine, Alice." I calmly stated with a minorly flat tone. Alice growled. "Don't you dare lie to me! I saw it! Those memories of you being forced into battle in that damned cube and onto the battlefield!" She slammed her hand on the table, making the silverware spark and float.
I exhaled and looked at her, not upset but pleading more or less. "Alice, when it comes to me. If I'm with you and these guys, I am alright and happy. When I'm outside of myself I'm great but if I'm inside, I'm horrible, I'm a mess!" I threw my hands up in the air. "I am a broken person, yes. But I can't just break down and cry like most people, I have a group of people to lead and train. So I admit, no I am not okay." I leaned back and grinned, out of spite of my frustration and want to break down. Grace and Zack were silent but attentive. "Well, If you ever need any of us don't dismiss the idea of calling." Zack put a hand on my shoulder and shook me. I got up and waved to the door. "Let's go, we have a long day ahead of us."
The day blurred together as it went on, truly never being there yet present. I ended up teaching the majority of the students the basics of Parkour and entered in data to see who went to which assistant of mine. Alice knocked on my door. "Come in!" She cracked the door at first then slowly stepped in and looked hesitant to approach me. "I-I'm sorry for what happened at the cafe' it wasn't my business!" She flinched away. I gave an awkward smile and nodded. "It's okay Rose, I shouldn't keep running away from the fact that I need to open up to someone and make peace. I just been hesitant to do so because I'd have to remember all of it." I stood up and kissed her. "In a way, you made me realize that."
Alice blushed and grumbled. "Y-You coulda said it without making me blush!"
