After that evening we ate in silence, the good kind though. We just sat there smiling and some occasional small talk but for the most part it was awkward laughing and smiles.

Then, I took the couch and she took the bed in the back of the plane. I laid there staring into space, thinking about that night when I was kidnapped. The gunshots sounded again, there was mom's decapitated head, dad's dead body, the shockwave and then I was knocked out. The scenes played over and over, I suddenly froze and then vividly remembered. As if it was by dream or virtual reality, I saw the scenes before my eyes. It was all too maddening, too much, then my mind short circuited

I shook from the trance and sat up, tears filled my eyes. Then I heard footsteps approach, I covered my eyes with my arm. "What are you doing up, shouldn't you sleep?" Alice just shrugged and then walked over to me and caressed my face. "I couldn't sleep, just like you. I...saw images and sounds in my mind, I assumed it was coming from you." I raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" Alice just sighed and lied down on me.

"I mean, well...it's one of my powers. I can hear and see other people's thoughts when they're scared or stressed, I can also find their worst fears." Her tone changed to ashamed, sad, guilt. "I feel cursed..after the first time I used my power at GUARDIAN, everyone looked at me with such cruel eyes, some looked in fear. That's when I started getting bullied, I was the outcast, the freakazoid, the.. T-the." I wrapped my arms around her, she struggled not to cry.

"You aren't though, you're beautiful, you're sweet, funny,and when we get there I'm making sure you're safe and respected." She clasped her fingers around mine and then smiled.

"I don't know why but I believe you. You think that can happen?" Alice looked at me with a glimmer of hope. I kissed her forehead and nodded. She exhaled slowly and then she popped up and beckoned me as she slowly walked into her room. I followed with a mischievous smile and then picked her up and threw her on the bed, she laughed. I crawled into the bed and then kissed her lips. She scooted over to me and pressed her face into my chest.

"Good night, Jason." Alice said with a drawn out yawn. I put one arm around her and yawned too. "Good night, little rose." That night I only dreamt of her, we were living in blossoming meadows. Flowers of all colors painted the hills, a stream was off to the side. It was paradise, then I heard Alice calling my name and then the whole world shaking. My face was met with a pillow, I woke up and held my hand up to block the next hit.

"We're almost there! Get up!" I pulled Alice down on top of me, I grabbed her head.

"I. Am. Awake." I shook her head on every syllable then I kissed her and sat up with her in my lap. I glanced around for my torn shirt but the only thing I found was a leather jacket with the insignia "GM" and a tight Under Armour shirt with jeans under it. I raised an eyebrow at sweet Alice.

"I assume this was you?" I asked with mock wonder. She put a fingertip on her bottom lip and smiled. "I don't know why you think of such a thing." She tossed some men's boxer briefs and then grabbed my hand and pulled me to the bathroom. She blushed intensely and then started to undress.

"Good afternoon Alice and Jason, we will arrive momentarily. Welcome to Greenland." The jet slowly descended. Alice was relaxed in my lap, reading a book and I was drinking coffee, marvelling at the scenery and the campus grounds of the absolutely gorgeous academy.

"Woah, would you look at that?" Alice nodded then sighed with grief, I knew what was wrong. She dreaded returning to this place as a teen to high school. I brought her up to me and then looked in her eyes.

"It'll be alright, Rosie. I promise ok?" She nodded then pressed her lips against mine, pulling the jacket towards her, that's when the jet rolled in. I groaned then stood up, Alice dusted her pink skirt, decorated with cookie emojis, off and her red heart shirt, except the heart was a heart shaped hole, exposing her cleavage.

I put on a mock smile and then put my arm in Alice's and walked down the stairs, a man with coffee brown skin and a blue suit was awaiting along with three others. A black haired woman with striking dark stormy gray eyes stood akimbo, a muscular man in camouflage in salute form, he was tan and had red buzz cut; and lastly a formal looking man, his hair was slicked back and his moustache was pointed on both sides, he wore a white and gold tux and had one glowing eye, it was like a kaleidoscope and a normal one.

"Mr. Wood, a pleasure to finally meet you. I'm one of the council, I oversee the children and staff in the school. I'm Fayard." He eyed me with curiosity and with a welcoming twinkle in his eyes. The woman assertively stepped forward and scanned over me.

"He certainly looks strong..let's see if he can act the part." She glared at me then stepped back.

"Please Ms. Thomas don't be so harsh with him, He's new after all." The gentleman stepped up for me, he seemed charming and humble. "Hello Jason, I'm Council member James Leonard Anthony. I oversee finances and finding and will be your guy for anything to do with money." He was shoved over by the man in camouflage, who grunted at him and smirked like it was a joke.

"I'm Lieutenant Jared K. Arnold or just Jared to you. If you need any weapon of any sort or protection, although protection shouldn't be a problem for someone of your caliber, me and my boys will keep your hind quarters safer than where we are now, I'm your councilor." They were all playing suck-up, I knew what they were doing. I bowed and grinned.

"A pleasure to meet you all, I will most certainly visit all of you when I have a chance." They bowed and walked away. "That went well." Alice gasped suddenly then got behind me

A group of students approached, armed and grinning. I assumed that they were Alice's bullies. I squeezed her hand and nodded at her.

"I got this."
