Eighteen

Summer:

I woke up and threw up on the hard ground next to me. Once I was done I tried to take in my surroundings. I was dizzy, I had blood all over me, luckily not mine. Ok, so far so good.

Once the room stopped spinning, I focused on all the details I could. The room was small, I was on the floor on a small padded mat shoved in the corner. There was a blanket draped over me and there was a plate of food placed on a small table in the corner. I tried to stand to check on the papers on the small table but standing proved to be difficult. I decied to crawl instead. The papers were filled with my weapon designs. Why would these be here? I slumped down against the wall near the table willing my body to heal from whatever drugs they forced into my system.

I'm not sure how long I sat there, I didn't scream, I didn't try to alert anyone to me. I didn't want anyone coming in until I was at least able to stand. The better I felt the more angry I became. Fuckin DEVIN. The hazy memories become clearer as the drugs wore off.

Knock Knock.

I quickly stood up, looking around the room for anything I could use as a weapon. Too late. The door slowly opened as a tall man with dark curly hair entered. His skin was as dark as his eyes and he looked like he could take me out without much effort. I kept my cool, I needed to figure out what their plan was for me and then I needed to get the fuck out of here.

I watched him carefully as he slide into the room taking up what little space was left. Just before he shut the door I heard screams from outside. I bit down on the inside of my cheek. There's more women here?

"Hello Summer. My name is Kevin, Kevin Wilson." My eyes grew wide as he stuck out his hand.

"FUCK... YOU..." I hissed out.

"Awe, such dirty words shouldn't come out of such a pretty little mouth. Besides that's no way to talk to your cousin."

COUSIN?! Is that what he just said?

He put his hand back down at his side before crossing his arms again. He seemed as tall as Broc but way more scary. He moved a little closer to me, as I tried to push myself up against the wall even more.

"Get the fuck away from me!" I sounded so weak. The drugs really messed me up.

"Tisk, tisk, little one. I would play nice with me if I were you. I promise I have no desire to harm you. We need you at your best." He looked over at the food on the table and frowned. "Was the food not to your liking?"

I didn't even risk a glance at plate of food at the table. I kept my gaze on the man in front of me. Cousin? I don't know much about my dad's side of the family, but from the stories my mom told me, I knew his family were bad people.

He took the plate of food and held it up to my face still frowning, "I can't have you passing out on me. I need that giant brain of yours working properly..." He held the fork up to my face. The smell of ginger rice and chicken filled my nose causing my stomach to growl. I cursed my body for outing me. He sighed before setting the plate back down on the table.

"Listen, Summer, I don't know what you know of your father, but we got so lucky finding you. Your brother is smart, but you..." He held up my sketches, "... you are something special. You are your father's legacy and he kept you well hidden for quite some time." An evil grin spread across his face. My legs began to feel weak again but I locked my knees, refusing to back down to this ASSHOLE in front of me.

"GET OUT! If you think you can use me to get more designs..." He cut me off by covering my mouth with his hand. I clawed at his hand, screaming, trying to keep him off of me. I was too weak.

"Oh Summer..." He shook his head from side to side, "...You will realize soon enough how special you are. Our family isn't too keen about giving you up. You will learn soon enough your place here. You belong here, with your family, doing what you do best. Serving us and giving us all those pretty little ideas you've got rolling around in your brain."

He quickly let me go, "Fuck you! You're not my family!" I spat out. He chuckled as he headed for the door.

He looked back at me, "You will be under the care of Shelia, she's another cousin of yours. She will help train you. I would consider eating because it's going to be a very long night if you don't." He slammed the door behind him and I heard the familiar sound of the lock clicking in place.

I knew that kind of lock and if I had something sharp I could probably get it open. My mind started swirling as I felt tears sting at the corner of my eyes. Training? Cousins? It was all so much to take in. I slid down the wall, refusing to let myself cry.

I glance over at the food on the small desk next to me. I was so hungry, It didn't sound like they wanted me dead. I knew I needed to eat for my own strength, so, I slowly ate, careful to let each tiny bite hit my stomach before allowing myself another. After I was sure it wasn't drugged, I gobbled down the rest and sat on the other side of my padded mat. I tried to think back to all the stories my mother told me about my father's side of the family. My mind was swirling with information as I heard the door crack open.

"Hello Miss, My name is Sheila." A curvy girl slide into my room with another man, a guard I presume. She had tan skin, her kinky hair in locks that feel down her back. There was gold string weaved through her hair and she was wearing a long silky dress that looked soft as it fell around her curves. She had a small smile on her lips. I scowled at her when she tried to reach for me.

"I know this may seem difficult right now, but I promise it's not so bad once you get to know everyone." I rolled my eyes. I almost felt bad for the woman. She whispered something to the guard who looked back at me, eyes glaring. He hesitated for a moment as he turned the door handle and opened it wide. He placed a kiss on her forehead before he headed out.

I saw the hallway. I tried to take a mental note of all I saw. It was brief but I could tell my room was right next to the stairs. I wonder if how high up I was. If I went down the stairs, would I get to the front door?

Sheila bent down next to me, crinkling her nose as she noticed I had been sick earlier, "Agh, I wish they would have given you a normal room..." She shrugged and sighed, "...but my brother has his ways of doing things." Ok so Sheila was Kevin's brother? Good to know.

"Why are you doing this to me?" I said weakly. Something about Sheila didn't make me think I had to be scared of her. I also got the sense that her guard would run back in at the sound of any yelling.

She sighed again as she took a seat next to me ignoring my question, "We should get you out of these clothes..." She looked over at my empty plate and smiled wide, "You ate! Good! Did you like it? Would you like more?" she kind of reminded me of Brittany.

My heart sunk as I thought about my best friend. She must be freaking by now. I was filled with a little more energy when I realized that Broc must have seen everything that happened on his cameras. I'm sure Mike and Broc are looking for me now. I just have to get out of here and contact them. I felt a surge of energy hit me.

She looked at me searching for an answer, pouting. "No, no, I don't want anything else." I mumbled.

Her face lit up as She held a hand out to me, "Come on, let's get you cleaned up. I have clothes set up for you in another room. I was instructed to get you ready as soon as you ate." She helped me up and looked me over sighing again. "I doubt my father would be happy to see you in this state..." She tapped her chin, thinking about something. Her father? Is he their leader? I thought this Kevin guy was.

"Your father?" I asked, trying to sound innocently curious versus digging for more information.

"Oh yes, your uncle." She looked at me with expectant eyes. I swallowed hard as she pushed me out the door into the hallway. The guard instantly grabbed my wrist and I struggled under his hold.

"Shush... it's ok, he's not going to hurt you ok?" Sheila ran her hand down my back as she glared at the guard who let me go. She took his place, linking our arms together as she lead me to the stairs, our guard right on my heels. I tried to look down but the guard snapped his fingers in my face.

"Eyes forward!" He barked at me. Sheila seemed to ignore it, or didn't notice.

I let Sheila guide me up two flights of stairs until we reached another hallway. This one was different. There were no guards, and it was scary quiet. Still no windows anywhere, as I started to wonder how long I had been out.

"What time is it?" Sheila looked at me, but only smiled.

"You will have your answers soon enough ok? Let's focus on getting you cleaned up first." I sighed as we stood at a pair of double doors at the end of the hallway. I tried to keep my heart rate down as I stood frozen in place. I saw large arms move around me from behind as the guard opened the doors.

I stood in shock at all the women looking at me. I was shaking as I looked over at Sheila, unsure what to do. "Hello everyone, this is Summer. My cousin."
