Chapter 4: Home Time!
=========================
Ace is finally home and looking forward to seeing his parents, it's been a few weeks since he's seen them and gone home to his beloved Sixers, it's a tradition in the Hicks home to go to the opening game of the season, it's not important that Ace has never seen them win a Championship but they did with the Division title last year so it's not all doom and gloom.
Ace got off the plane and went to baggage to get his bag, Ace walked up to security and couldn't help the cute brunette making sure nobody got through with anything that their not supposed to have.
It didn't take long till it was Ace's turn and he looked over to her.
Ace: Am I going to get patted down?
Ace asked as she looked to him confused by why he would ask that, she pulled the tray towards her with Ace's personal effects in, she shook her head no while Ace slide his wallet and keys into his pocket's.
Ace: Can I request one?
Ace asked making her look up to him with a smile, she couldn't help but blush and smile back while her colleague took over as she took Ace into a nearby pat down room after turning off the cameras.
David waited and waited for his son to get here, his plane landed an hour ago and his son still isn't here, David had an idea of what's taking him so long but didn't say anything when he saw Ace coming down the escalator talking to some women, David did for a second think it was his girlfriend he hasn't told them about but when she left Ace and hugged a different guy, he sighed.
David: Really?
David asked Ace as he walked towards him with a proud smile, Ace looked nothing like his father, Ace has dark brown hair with blue eyes that seem to be his main attraction when it came to women, while David had light brown hair and brown eyes, Lori's the same just with blonde hair.
Ace: What?
Ace asked knowing what he did and what he was going to do if her boyfriend wasn't here of his father.
David: She has a boyfriend.
David said stating the obvious as the two Hicks' walked towards the exit of the airport, Ace was proud of who he is or at least he pretended to be.
Ace: That's not her fault.
Ace shrugged as much as David and Lori hate his little exports, he's been like it since he was told he was adopted, they think it's a coping thing he's going through.
David: Come on, let's get you home.
Ace throw his bag in the trunk of his dad's Lincoln...
... While the older Hicks got into the drivers seat, Ace joined him up front and they made their way from Philadelphia International Airport to Devon, it's not a long drive but it was long enough for Ace to tell his dad about everything he's been up to, except the nasty stuff.
David: By the way we're got tickets to the show in Allentown...
David said to Ace pulling into the street they live on in the nice suburban area, it was a cute little area with very little trouble other then the usual teenagers running around but that's about it.
David: ... You sent the tickets didn't you?
David came to the realisation as Ace nodded in the passenger seat, he knew they liked coming to his shows but none of them he felt was good enough for them to go to so now he has a contract with AEW and a better storyline.
David: Well we're gonna need another ticket.
Ace looked to his dad as the car pulled up to their small family home big enough for them and a guest to stay...
... David parked the car while Ace unbuckled and faced him, he sent them three tickets two for his parents and one for his aunt Carol, she's not really his aunt but she and his mother have been friends since they were in Highschool.
Ace: What are you talking about?
Ace asked while the thought went through his mind as to why they needed a fourth ticket, the thought of them having another kid flashed into his mind but that disappeared as he remembered his mother can't have kinds.
David: Let's go.
David shut off the car and got out making Ace follow him wondering what the hell is going on, Ace got his bag from the back of the Lincoln and followed him into the house, he does technically still live with his parents but he's mainly staying in hotel rooms around the country, he still has his room though.
Ace: Ma! I'm home!
Ace shouted out as he put his bag by the door ready to sort out later, he just wants to see his mom first and find out what's going on.
Lori: In the kitchen!
Ace smiled and ran down the hall and looked into the kitchen joining to the dinning room that holds the living room joint all in one, Ace's smiled dropped though when he saw his aunt Carol sitting at the kitchen island with a little girls he's never met before.
Lori: Hey baby...
Lori hugged her son while the girl looked to him with a smile, Ace hugged back as his aunt Carol stood and hugged him as well, Ace was more distracted by the kid colouring in with a smile on her face.
Lori: ... Ace, this is Ariana.
Lori stood behind the little girls resting her hands on her shoulders gently while David stood nearby leaning on the counter looking to Ace's reaction as he didn't seem to change his face just looking puzzled.
Lori: Ari, this is your brother Ace.
Ariana hopped off the stool and walked over to Ace as Ace stood their not really sure of what to think.
Ariana: It's nice to meet you Ace. I'm Ariana.
She said holding her little hand out, Ace looked from the around 7 year old to his parents and aunt behind her as they all held smiles on their faces, Ace didn't say anything though and turned walking out the kitchen heading upstairs to his room.
Lori and David looked a little upset thinking that Ace would have reacted like this while Ariana turned to the three adults in the room.
Ariana: Did I do something wrong?
She asked looking upset, Lori and David were quick to make her feel better and explained why Ace acted like that, she was young and didn't full understand it but Ace never met his birth parents unlike Ariana, she was raised by them till she was 3 but they weren't ready for a child and explained to her that she'll live with other people from now on, Ariana still see's her birth parents every now and then but she's a Hicks now and happy about it.
Ace however shut his bedroom door through his leather jacket on his bed...
... Ace sat down on the edge of his bed and sighed as he wondered why his parents are replacing him with another kid, Ace tapped away with his thumps as his hands are clasped together.
Carol: You okay in here?
Ace didn't respond and just tried to figure out why they replaced hi, all the thoughts run through his head from all the things he's done over the years, he knows he's changed over the past 10 years but he needs all of this, he needs to live like this.
Carol: You wanna talk about it?
Carol asked sitting on the bed next to him as she shut the door behind her, Ace was always able to talk to Carol as she two was a child of adoption and she understood what Ace is feeling, the feeling of abandonment and now he feels like he's being pushed out the family.
Carol: Their not trying to replace you Ace...
Ace still didn't say anything or lift his head, Ace took his jacket and pulled his cellphone out as she looked to him trying to help the young man.
Carol: ... Stop throwing you're life away on one nighters, Ace...
Carol took his phone out his hands knowing he was just going to call a girl or something, it's a normal thing for a child of his up bringing, she did the same, she collected sea shells as a girl, Ace collects girls numbers.
Ace: Did I do something wrong?
Ace finally asked looking to her and seeing her bright red hair and brown eyes, she has light pale skin and honestly cute freckles barley noticeable going form cheek to cheek connected over the bridge of her nose.
Carol: You didn't do anything wrong...
She hugged him as Ace just let her while he didn't believe her, Carol heard the door open and she looked to see little Ariana standing there looking upset hoping she didn't hurt Ace.
Ariana: Is he okay?
Carol nodded to her as she walked into the bedroom and sat on the opposite side of Ace, Carol stood up leaving them two alone while she left the room leaving the door ajar so she, Lori and David could hear what's going on.
Ariana held his hand in hers as he looked to her and she smiled up to him, Ace chuckled once while she looked around his room, she's been in here before curious to who her new brother is and remembered their parents telling her he used to play the piano, so she hopped off and walked over to his piano and climbed on the seat
Ace laughed at her trying to climb up and walked over to her lifting her up sitting down himself, placing her next to him.
Ariana: Can you play me a song?
Ariana kicked her feet back and forward while smiling at him, Ace liked her smile it was kind contagious.
Ace: Can I tell you a secret?
She nodded to him while the adults stayed outside the room listening to the fact that Ariana is seemingly getting Ace to talk to her.
Ace: I was born a twin...
Ace said as he pushed a few keys randomly, Ariana didn't know that and David looked to Lori while they were both surprised by this, Ace hasn't said that to anyone, he refused to talk to them about it, Ace's twin died when they were kids, they were playing soccer by the road and the ball rolled out as a car came towards them, Ace blamed himself for miss kicking the ball.
Ace: ... He's not with us anymore though, he's sleeping with the angels.
Ariana was sad to hear that and hugged into her new big brother as he started the song he wrote for his brother he never got to meet...
https://youtu.be/ACH7QmUWmb4
... David, Lori and Carol made their way into the room about halfway through the song not making sure that the kids didn't see them .
Ace: "... I'm just jealous of the angels, around the throne tonight..."
Ace finished the song while, Ariana smiled up to him, Lori was crying in both happiness and sadness, happy because Ace is finally opening up a little and sadness he kept all that built up inside him for this amount of time, David was glad his son let it out and felt a little relieved.
They left the room before Ace or Ariana saw them and went back to making Ace's favourite food so they could all sit down and enjoy their first meal as a family, Ace also made sure that Ariana had a ticket for Wednesday in Allentown for them to see his first Tag Match in AEW, he was excited about it and happy he has a little sister.
Lori and David couldn't help but smile to the fact Ariana has somehow got Ace to open up for her in 20 minutes more then they have in the last 27 years he's been their son, Carol felt relieved for Ace as well, she never got that feeling he has with Ariana, the feeling of trust and knowing she is going through what he is, it makes you feel a lot better about your situation in life and who knows, they might see a whole knew Ace Hicks because of it...
