Betrayed

Grace POV

Two days had gone by and Cassia is still avoiding me, I was beginning to get tired of it so I decided to sneak in and try to talk to her. Climbing in her window in a dress was not the easiest thing in the world to do but I had managed to do it.

"Grace? What are you doing here?!" Cassia asked in a harsh whisper.

"I am so tired of your little body guards blocking me so I came in through the window and you have to tell me what is going on." I tell her as I try to catch my breath.

Grace thought for a moment then shook her head. She wasn't going to tell me what was going on? Why would she do something like that?

"No please, just take Milo and leave, run as far away from here as you can." Cassia tells me as tears begin to fall from her eyes.

"Cassia, I can't do that you love him and Ali-" I start but Cassia stops me.

"He was lying, Ali is one of Corvus best men to earn women's trust. Grace he was using you to make sure if you did run off with Ali you will still be under Corvus control." Cassia said as she held my arms tightly. "This is all a big game to Corvus and if he doesn't win then no one will survive it."

Cassia looked completely frightened. He had told her something or maybe she had heard something to make her deathly afraid of him. Was it true though? Was Ali really using me? That would explain why he fell for me so fast and would do whatever Corvus wanted him to do...it was all a lie?

"You need to get out of here, I know they took Milo back to the stadium but I just know something bad is coming so please Grace leave here as fast as you can." Cassia said as there was a loud bang at the door.

Dang it! Running back to the window I climbed out and made my way back to the balcony that I had come from and then back inside of my room just as the doors opened and there stood Ali. He didn't look like he might have heard what Cassia and I were talking about but I would find out something and it wouldn't be the easy way either.

"Grace? Are you well? You look a little pale." Ali said making his way up to me, his hand came to my cheek about to caress it but I turned my head away from me. "Grace?"

"How dare you...playing with women's hearts is something to take lightly." I say as I move away from him. "Were you just going to toy with me for as long as Corvus told you to?"

"What are you talking about? I have not done anything like that." Ali said as he came up to me.

"Cassia isn't the only one trapped, is she? Just tell me the truth and maybe I won't find a way to kill you while your sleeping." I threaten him as I take the dagger from his belt and hold it to his face.

Ali holds up his hand in surrender. It looked like I was finally going to get some answers. Then I felt something hit me upside my head. Everything around me became dark and before I knew it I passed out right there on the floor.

"Grace!" I could hear a male voice calling out to me.

Barely opening my eyes, I looked around and everything was really fuzzy.

"GRACE! WAKE UP!" I could hear the male yell at me again.

I was somewhere that I didn't know. Just as I went to sit up I could feel chains on my arms. Looking down I was in fact chained to a wall. Where the heck was I and how did I end up here?

"Grace, come on look at me." The male voice calls out again.

Following the voice, I see in the center of the room there sits Milo with chains on his ankles and looking behind him I can see the chains lead to a wall. He was chained up as well.

"Milo? Are we at the stadium?" I question him as I barely touch the back of my heard only to realize how sore it is.

"No, we are under your house, Corvus uses this for those who don't follow him. I don't think your parents even know about this place." Milo says as he tries to get closer to me but the chains prevent him from doing so. "What did you do for him to put you down here?"

"I threatened to kill Ali while he was sleeping." I reply to him with a sigh.

"What? I thought you two were in love?"

"It was a lie, he's one of Corvus most trusted men for getting women to trust him. I was just another victim." I sigh as I start to crawl and make my way to Milo.

Surprising me I am able to make it right to him before the chains give me no more slack. Milo looks down at me and I can see he is just as confused as I am.

"Maybe our acting was too well." Milo shrugs as he looks around the dungeon like room.

"Ha, maybe. If they think we are in love though then why put us in a cell together?" I question.

"To make the time that you and he have left together worthwhile. Before I leave for Rome I will take you both to the stadium and Milo will watch you be burned at the stake." Corvus says as Milo and I look over and see him just outside the cell.

"You mean to burn me like a witch?!" I yell back at Corvus.

"You seem to be one, putting the spell on Ali even though you were with the Celt all along. You were only trying to figure out a way to get his freedom." Corvus scoffs.

"Dude you give me far too much credit." I retort.

"How will it feel Milo? To know even though you may not love Grace now in the end there is nothing you can do to save her life?" Corvus smiles as he looks at Milo.

"I'll kill you...if it's the last thing I do...I swear I will kill you." Milo swears looking Corvus right in the eyes.

Corvus pays no mind as he begins to walk off.

"Oh, and Grace your parents are so disappointed to hear their daughter is a witch so they will not be there to see you take your last breath upon this world." Corvus calls out as he leaves the dungeon.

"What an asshole." I sigh as I look to Milo.

How in the world was I going to get myself and Milo out of this one?
