A Long Day
A/N: This is one of the stories that I really wish to write since I have read all the Harry Potter books and am currently finishing the movie series for the 5th or 7th time. I hope you enjoy this Drarry fanfiction you HPDM fans! This is set in their remake of 7th year and I did change some things… they are minor but I hope you guys are not upset with me.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, J.K Rowling does and oh boy she did a great job. I do not own the characters but this fanfiction’s idea belongs to me.

Chapter 1
“Harry, you should really take the day off”
“I agree. The stress that you have been exposed to can seriously damage your schedule and one day off would not hurt you in any way. We do have Snape’s Potion class today and remember… You are paired up with Draco”
“I know Hermione” Harry looked at his two best friends since his 1st year at Hogwarts. The events that had happened the year before were frustrating Harry and it seemed that every year he returned to the world he loved so much, something big was happening and it always seemed to be centered around him. The so-called Golden Boy. The Boy Who lived.
“I’ll… take a rest later today after Potion’s class. I promise” He shot a reassuring smile towards his friends and was relieved when they both smiled back.
Today was going to be quite a long day for Harry and he knew it.
~~~
Transfiguration class was finally over and everyone gathered up their things, leaving for their next and final class of the day. The boy with the lightning scar stood up, got his things and was the last one to walk out of the room. He didn’t walk with Hermione and Ron much anymore. He wanted to give them space… after all, those two were dating.
“Look who it is! If it isn’t The Golden Boy!” Came an all too famous voice that Harry recognized immediately.
“If it isn’t the former Death Eater” He retorted and didn’t bother to turn around, knowing that if he did, he would spend all his time arguing with him and end up skipping class. Snape would end up taking points from Gryffindor and somehow let the blonde git loose.
“My my Potter, it seems you aren’t in quite a good mood today”
“Course not…” Harry murmured.
“And why is that?” Draco pressed on.
“…”
Silence was all Draco received from Harry, and even if he wasn’t happy with that, he let it be. After last year’s event with Voldemort… he understood why Harry would not want to talk about it. But they won didn’t they? Why would Harry not want to talk about something so glorious?
“Oh look, we made it on time” Harry muttered and sat down in his assigned seat which was right next to Draco’s.
“Well Potter, don’t mess this up” Draco sneered and turned to face Professor Snape.
“You git” Harry retorted, not noticing Snape had heard what he had said.
“5 points deducted from Gryffindor” Came Snape’s voice as he walked to the front of the class.
“Now, if all of you were paying attention—“ He turned his attention towards Harry and everyone in the Slytherin house giggled “—Then you would have known to turn to page 398”
Ron glared at Draco from behind and muttered many censored words, only to have Hermione put a hand on his shoulder and silently tell him to stop.
“Now today you shall be finishing the Veritaserum that you had started 28 days ago, at the start of the lunar phase for this month. Once you believe it is completed, get my attention and one person out of the two of you shall take it. Your grade shall depend on how strong it is and if it actually works. Knowing that most of you are not cut out for potion brewing, I expect there to be very little… high average grades” The feared professor turned his back to the class and took out his wand, only to point it at someone’s book from the HufflePuff house and turn it to the correct page.
“As I had said earlier, turn to page three- hundred…. And ninety-eight… You may now begin”
Harry had turned his attention from Professor Snape to Draco who was already working on the potion.
“Honestly, you are so OCD when it comes to potions” Harry said and began to heat up the pot at 250 degrees for about 10 seconds using his wand.
“I wouldn’t call myself OCD, only that you’re terrible at potions. You must heat it at 360 degrees for 15 seconds Potter” He corrected and kept his steady rhythm of mixing the potion for at least 7 turns clockwise.
Draco Malfoy was a genius when it came to potions and Harry was not sure how he could talk and brew at the same time and still get it perfect. He would have trouble with just heating a potion at the right temperature for a certain amount of time. Though admiration did not come easy, Harry had come to admire Draco for how hard he actually worked at to being the best in Hogwarts. Of course, admitting this meant some kind of defeat that even he himself didn’t know about. It was a strange feeling so he shrugged it off and zoned out for a while, letting the blonde do the rest himself.
“Potter” Draco had called yet it seemed Harry was lost in thought.
“Potter!” He tried again and sighed. Might as well take advantage of this and try to get Gryffindor more points deducted.
Draco grabbed 2 vials that he had hidden in his pocket for quite a while, waiting for the right moment to be able to finally use them. He didn’t know what they did specifically but he knew that if those two were combined, it would create a rather big explosion and he could blame it on Harry. Serves him right to doze in the middle of a big grade.
Opening the vial that seemed to feel heavy in his hand, he poured it into the bronze cauldron and heard the liquid inside bubble a while before ending in a poof.
“Potter” He tried once more only to have the scar-faced boy stare at his book, as if he were thinking on how to blow up the school and muffpunch his grandma.
“Fine, be that way.” He called.
Draco opened up the other vial and poured it in. As the vial made contact with the liquid inside the cauldron, it began to bubble harshly, more than the first one had. However the bubbling did not stop, even when steam began to fill the room. And it was all thanks to Draco’s plan.
Professor Snape detected the steam (who knows how. That git can do lots of things) and walked towards their cauldron at quite a fast pace. His robe swished (It’s a Slytherin thing) as he stopped right in front of Harry and Draco, only to glare at them as his hand shot out, obviously wanting the vials used.
“20 points from Gryffindor, now the vials if you would please”
Draco pretended to reach into Harry’s pocket and grab the 2 vials he had mixed in with the original potion as Harry finally reacted to the commotion around him. Everyone was walking out of the room, whispering things that he could not hear. Why were they all talking? Why is there steam in this room?
Turning his head, he saw Professor Snape glare at him and deduct 10 points for not paying attention and another 20 for messing up Draco’s potion.
“You also have detention… Potter.” He added, making Harry groan.
The scowl that was placed on the Professor’s face pretty much said it all ‘How could you do this you insolate git? Draco here is much better than you and you decide to ruin everything. Well detention serves you right’
At least that’s what Harry imagined.
“But Professor—!”
“No excuses Mr. Potter. Detention starts right after class. Mr. Malfoy has the honor to supervise you to make sure you finish your duty and that you do it right while I go to a meeting. If you’ll excuse me”
With a swish from his robe, Professor Snape turned around and walked out the room, leaving the 2 boys to groan at their tasks that might take them all night to complete.
“This was all your fault Malfoy!” Harry yelled and began to clean everything with his wand, only to knock down a book from one of the shelves.
“That’s what you get for not paying attention… Potter”
Harry bent down to pick up the book and put it back on the shelf, ignoring Draco and his clever comebacks. Honestly, can he be less of an insufferable Slytherin?
“Well, not that it matters. You have detention, I have to supervise. How hard can that be?”
“Stop your blabbering and do your job Malfoy”
Draco sneered at his comment and came up with another idea. Another fun idea that might just make Harry make a fool of himself in the long run.
“Are you scared to lose in a verbal fight with me? Proves that you have no guts”
“Says the cowardly Slytherin who about cried in 3rd year because Hermione about slit your neck with a simple wand”
Draco growled a bit and continued forward, ignoring the last comment made by Harry.
“I bet you wouldn’t drink the Veritaserum because you’re too scared to do it without teacher supervision”
“I will not drink that. I wasn’t assigned to do it” Harry retorted and finished putting all the cauldrons in their respectful places.”
“Oh but you must drink it, Professor Snape said to clean everything up. That includes this very cauldron and you can’t put it up with that liquid inside. Where will you dump it? What if it causes another mess and you have more points deducted for you Gryffindorks? Honestly Potter…”
Harry seemed to think it through for once and sighed in defeat after a long minute of thinking. Draco’s words did make sense...
“Fine, I’ll drink it…”
The messy haired boy walked over to the cauldron and placed the liquid in a small vial before grabbing it and taking a moment to sniff the liquid. It was odorless, therefor not harmful... right?
Placing the vial to his lips, he began to drink the odorless liquid, not knowing what it could cause.
“This tastes – agh… I-it…”
Harry grabbed at his throat and began to scratch it with much force… as if it were burning him.
“Potter… What’s gotten into you?” Draco yelled as Harry collapsed to the floor, still clutching his burning throat.
“B-Bur…ns”
The pain was evident in Harry’s eyes. His once green emerald eyes were now glazed over and his throat was turning into a swollen red due to all the scratch marks that Harry had caused.
Draco didn’t know what to do but to yell and hope someone heard him. He caused this... and he felt guilty…
“Someone! Anyone! Get your bloody ass in here and help me!!”
