Chapter12
Cam walked beside Riley as he devised a quick plan of action.
"I need Charles and Zane to stand guard outside my bedroom. If anything goes wrong with Xavier I want Macy to be safe." He said and Riley nodded, quickly relating a mind-link message to the best fighters in the pack.
"Have they been searched?" Riley nodded.
"Clean." He said and Cam grunted.
"What did he say he wanted to speak about?" But Cam already knew. He was here about Macy.
"Macy. He claims he won't speak with anyone but you about the matter." Cam nodded and stood outside his office door. Riley watched his leader as he took a deep breath. It had been three years since Cam last spoke to Xavier and that conformation didn't end well.
Cam opened the door and his wolf growled at the man who was looking at the books on Cameron's bookshelves. Xavier turned his body towards his enemy, a smirk appearing on his face.
"Ah, Cameron. So nice to see you again." The sarcasm dripped off his tongue and the disrespect had Cameron's wolf growling in outrage. Cameron gave a stiff nod.
"Xavier." The two enemy's glared at each other before Riley intervened.
"You're here about the girl, aren't you, Xavier?" Xavier turned his hard gaze to Riley and smirked.
"I am."
"Alright," Cameron cut in before Riley could lash out an insult. He walked to his desk and sat down. Xavier sat down in the chair across from the desk. "What are your terms?" Xavier chuckled.
"My terms are easy, Cameron. Give me the girl back and I can promise you your pack won't perish." He hummed, crossing his leg over the other while he leaned back, a satisfied smirk on his lips. Cam took a quiet breath and leaned forward, an intense, curious expression on his face.
"Easy enough," Xavier smirked and began to stand, thinking he had won this negotiation, when really he hadn't. "But, under my laws, any being injured or seeking sanctuary can be held in my territory for as long as they need." A scowl appeared on Xavier's face. He forgot about that. Cameron's father had been a very kind and generous man and let nearly everyone into his pack. To Xavier, that was his flaw.
"But, what I also want to know is, if you want her back, then why did you throw her out?" Cameron wasn't surprised by the dark look that crossed over Xavier's face.
"It was to teach her a lesson. She was disrespectful and she needed to learn who was in charge of her life." Xavier replied back smoothly. Cameron raised an eyebrow.
"In charge of her life, as in-"
"She is my slave." The word made anger course through Cameron's body. He was disgusted.
"You see, Macy's parents wanted to live forever. It's a shame about her brothers though." Xavier drawled on. Cameron was interested.
"What are you talking about?" Xavier chuckled and looked Cameron straight in the eye.
"Macy's parents wanted to be immortal, but we're a little short on vampires in the country. But, they didn't know that." Cam raised an eyebrow, not believing him, but intrigued none the less.
"Go on." Cameron said and Xavier stood up, beginning to tell Cameron all about his mate's past.
"Her parents came to me, thinking us Were's could live forever. Sadly, we can't. You know that. But...they didn't. So, I might have fibbed a little," he chuckled as he paced in front of Cameron's desk.
"But, in order for them to become 'immoral', payment was in order. You see, Macy's parents wanted to be immortal so bad, they sold their daughter to me." Anger and disbelief consumed Cameron's body. He just didn't understand how someone could give away their child like that.
"When their sons found out, well, they were none to pleased. It was a shame really. They could have been very useful. But, I had to kill them. Loud mouths they were. Anyway, her parents didn't want her to know they had sold her, so we devised a plan. To kidnap her, and it honestly couldn't have gone any better." Suddenly, Cameron growled and Xavier was caught off guard. Intrigued, his lips curled and he laughed evilly.
"What is it, Cameron? Have I hit a soft spot?" His persisting made Cameron glare at him.
"What of her parents?" He snapped and Xavier chuckled.
"Dead, I'm afraid. They didn't survive the transformation. But, I didn't care. I got a personal slave out of it." Xavier could clearly see the anger in Cameron's eyes and he wondered by he was so upset. She was just a human after all.
"Have you gone soft on the girl, Cameron?" He questioned and Cameron's eyes darkened. Xavier ran scenario after scenario in his head, trying to figure out why talking about her being his slave would upset him so much. He decided to test a theory. It was a long shot, but it was the only one that made sense.
"She's amazing really. Got the right figure and when she cries for me to stop-" Cameron stood up quickly, slamming his hand down on the table, his eyes ablaze.
"Enough!" He bellowed and Xavier smirked. Bingo.
"A Parker having a human as a mate? Outrageous. What would your father say?" Cameron growled dangerously, his eyes black. Riley held his Alpha back.
"Cameron, you can't help her like this."
"I would be doing her a favor by killing him right now." He snapped. Xavier fixed Cameron with a smug, but angry glare.
"I'll give you this proposition, lover boy. If Macy isn't returned to me in three days, by sunset on the third day, it's war. So, what will it be? Your mate, or your pack?" Cameron growled at him.
"Get out! Now!" Xavier went to the door and smirked.
"Three days, Cameron. Or it's war." And with that, Cameron's greatest enemy walked right out the door.
Upstairs, Macy could hear Cameron's angry shouts. Quickly getting up from the piano, she ran to the door. Claire couldn't get to her fast enough.
"Macy!" Charles and Zane were surprised to see a small, dark haired girl run right by them, going for the stairs. They were confused as they watched Claire look at them, irritated.
"What are you just standing there for?" She snapped and the three of them went after Macy. Macy ran quickly down the stairs looking wildly around for Cameron, but it wasn't Cameron she saw. It was Xavier.
When his coal black eyes settled on her, Macy was overcome with fear. She felt frozen in place as a smirk appeared on his lips. He then began to walk towards her. Macy's heart beat incredibly picked up and her breath caught in her throat.
"See you soon, baby girl." He said, sliding his finger across her cheek as he walked past. His touch was cold and she shrinked back, memories flooding her mind. When he was gone, her knees buckled and she collapsed. Black dots danced across her vision as Claire's face appeared. Macy could see her lips moving, but no sound was coming out. Claire gestured to someone, her eyes showing how important it was. Then, suddenly, in the blink of an eye, Claire was gone and Cameron appeared.
His eyes searched her face, his hands holding her arms. His mouth moved, but she couldn't hear what he said. Later she would find out that she was hyperventilating and had fallen into a panic attack.
Macy's eyes rolled to the back of her head and she collapsed into Cameron's arms. Panic sweeped across his body as he checked her pulse. It was fast, but still there. He looked up at Claire, Charles, Zane, and his beta to see them all looking worried. Cam held his mate in his arms and picked her up. He wordlessly left, taking his mate up to his room.
As soon as he laid her down, Macy's eyes shot open and she began to kick and scream, trying to get away from Cameron.
"Macy! Macy, it's me! Cameron!" He said, fighting to restrain her without hurting her. She slowly stopped struggling and when her horror filled gaze landed on his, she broke down, hard sobs racketing her body. She still tried to get out of Cameron's grip. Her heart felt broken. He lied, he lied.
"Macy, calm down." He urged, but Macy continued to struggle.
"Leave me alone." She whimpered and Cam was confused.
"Macy-" his eyes widened as she shoved him away.
"Leave me alone!" She yelled, her voice hoarse from screaming. He didn't understand.
"Macy-" tears streamed down her face as she looked at him.
"You lied. You lied." She sobbed and Cam was completely confused.
"What did I lie about, Macy?" He asked and Macy shot him a glare.
"You said I wasn't going back! You lied to me!" She tried to shove him away, but he caught her wrists, careful of her injured one. Her angry, betrayed gaze met his.
"I didn't lie to you. I would never lie to you. You saw him, didn't you? You saw Xavier?" Her eyes filled with fear.
"What did he say to you, Macy?" Cameron knew he had spoken to he. Claire said he did. Macy's lower lip trembled.
"He...he said he'd see me soon." She swallowed hard and took a deep breath. Cam lifted his hands from her wrists and brought them to her hands, entwining their fingers together. Their hands fit together perfectly and Macy felt her breath catch in her throat at the sheer determination in his eyes.
"You will never go back there, Macy. Ever. You are my mate and my mate stays with me. Do you understand that, Macy?" He said strongly.
"But he said-" she started, but Cam cut her off.
"It doesn't matter what he said. What matters is that you have to believe and trust me Macy. Please." His eyes searched her's and she swallowed hard. His eyes bore into hers and a flash of something that seemed very familiar appeared in his eyes. It was the same look he had earlier, before they almost kissed. It was a look that send shocks all the way down to her toes and goosebumps crawling across her skin. Her heart beat picked up and she felt breathless. Her not answering made Cameron desperate and he moved closer to her.
"Please Macy. I need you to trust me and believe that I would never hurt you or lie to you. Please tell me you trust me." He begged, his eyes wide with need. Macy licked her lips and looked into his eyes. She knew deep down she could trust him and she felt herself beginning to nod.
"I...I trust you, Cam." Her eyes bore into his and he knew she was telling the truth. He felt exhausted and he leaned his head against her shoulder, his eyes closing. His scent filled her nose and she leaned her head against his. Her arms wrapped around his neck and his around her waist. Just being this close to each other had Cameron's wolf howling. He wanted his mate, badly. Cam's hand rubbed her back softly, making Macy's eyes droop closed.
Cameron breathed her scent in, easing his wolf's need. He pulled away, gazing into her face, brushing her hair out of her eyes as they opened. The sheer beauty of her hazel eyes caught him off guard for just a moment before he found himself falling into a trance. A puzzled look came across her face as she touched his cheek, which he immediately leaned into, his eyes never leaving hers.
"Why are you so beautiful?" He asked softly and shock and surprise possessed her features. Then, as she realized what he had said, color consumed her cheeks.
"I...I d-don't k-know." She stumbled over the words as he leaned in closer. A small smile was on his lips as her hand slipped into his hair.
"Well, I don't care how you became so beautiful. All I care about is you, Macy. You are my everything." She felt herself melt into his arms as his lips brushed across her's. Tingles ran through her body at the soft touch.
"Cam..." She breathed softly, her hands finding his hair and the soft texture only drew her in more.
"I know, sweetheart. I know." And with that, he leaned down, his hands holding his mate close to him, as he pressed his soft lips against her's.
He was gentle, very gentle. His kisses felt airy and it was because he was afraid she wasn't ready. But Macy was ready and she told him so.
Her arms wound around his neck, pulling him closer and their lips pressed tighter together. The feeling sent the butterflies in her stomach everywhere and all she could think about was Cam, Cam, Cam.
Their lips moved together in sync, slowly, passionately, until Cameron realized she wasn't breathing. He placed one last kiss on her lips before pulling away, resting his head against her's. She was breathing hard, her cheeks red and her lips pink and swollen. She stared wide eyed at his shoulder, as if she didn't believe he had just kissed her.
She felt...loved, for the first time in six years. She felt wanted and needed and as she turned her gaze to Cameron's, she knew he was the only one who was ever going to make her feel like this. A strong pull of emotion tugged at her heart as she buried her head into his chest, breathing in his scent as it washed over her.
He was so warm, Macy thought as he pulled her in tighter, his lips pressing against her forehead and then her cheek and soon, she felt his finger lifting her chin, their eyes meeting, and his lips back on her's.
If their first kiss was amazing, then the second was
