Chapter 6

Seeing Macy smile was probably one of the most beautiful things Cameron had ever seen. A large smile was on her face as her fingers danced across the keys of the piano, its beautiful sound ringing through the room. A grin was stretched across Cam's face as he watched her, loving how color had come to her cheeks and making her seem even more alive.

The tone of the song was one of innocence and freedom. It reminded Cameron distinctly of a butterfly. Macy couldn't believe it when her fingers remembered the keys to one of her mother's favorite song. Cam had simply shown her the pedals and a few important notes when it all suddenly came back to her.

She remembered the memories of her family, of her mother teaching her how to play the piano, of her father reading his novel and her brother's studying in the background. It all seemed just like yesterday that Macy felt as if she had been transported back to the past, to a time where pain and anguish were words nonexistent.

As the song came to a close, the smile on Macy's face slowly disappeared. When the final note rang out, her smile had disappeared completely and all that was left of her bright and shining face were the touches of pink to her cheeks. A quiet silence filled the air as Macy stared at the piano, feelings and memories swirling her head.

"That was really good." Cam whispered to her, sensing that something was wrong. Macy simply nodded and swallowed hard.

"Thank you." Was her quiet reply. Then all it was was silence. Cam was stuck. He didn't know what to do. He could feel her sadness and remorse as if it were his own. Her hands held the bench, not tightly, but as if it were the only thing keeping her up. Laying his hand a top of her's, he didn't speak till she was looking at him. Her breath caught in her throat at the sheer intensity of his strong determined sapphire eyes.

"If there's anything you need, tell me, and I will do everything in my power to make it happen," he said, his voice strong and low enough just for her to hear. She nodded, but he wasn't done. "And if you need to tell me anything, I'll listen. I'll stop what I'm doing and I promise you my full attention, okay?" He finished and she nodded.

"Okay." She said and Cam smiled, revealing a beautiful set of white teeth. It made Macy's cheeks blush and a whirlwind of butterflies to fill her stomach. Cam took a deep breath and stood up, Macy did too and watched as he walked to the window and glanced out.

"Well, the sun's just about to set-" Macy gasped and felt all the color leave her face. Cam spun around, ready to spring if necessary. There, standing in the middle of his room was a petrified Macy. Her face pale, her hazel eyes wide in terror. He walked towards her and touched her arm. She didn't move.

"Macy? What wrong?" He asked her, his hand tracing down her arm to her hand. The warmth of his skin holding her's made her come back. Back with him, sunset meant punishment. Meant beatings and pain. She looked up into Cam's wildly worried eyes and blinked. She swallowed hard and took a shuddering breath.

"I...I think I need to tell you something." She whispered softly and Cam nodded.

"Okay. You can tell me." He lead her back to the piano bench and sat down beside her. She held her hands tightly together, wringing them as she nervously chewed on her lower lip. She didn't say anything for a few minutes as she tried to get her thoughts straight. Finally she took a deep breath and felt it all come out.

"I was thirteen when I was kidnapped. I had been walking home when somebody came up to me and grabbed me, covering my face with a cloth of chloroform," her hands shook as tears begged to fall. Cam placed his hand on her's. "I was there for six years, doing what I was told and being...being a slave. I...I did things no one, especially a thirteen year old girl, should go through. I was forced to...submit myself to strangers," her lower lip trembled and she stared at Cam's hand holding her's. It was strong and firm. Her hold on freedom. "I wanted out. I wanted my family, but he said the only way I could leave was if I...I became like him." Tears streamed down her cheeks as she fought a sob. But she did notice, through the fear and sadness, the relief of the weight being lifted off her shoulders. Cam squeezed her hand.

"Who? Who said you had to be like him?" Cam asked. Macy wiped her cheeks and looked up into his eyes, instantly finding peace and closure.

"His name was Xavier and he said that I had to be a werewolf, just like him."
