Chapter 21
Shea gasped softly and backed slowly away from the door. Macy was pregnant? How could this have happened? Xavier was going to be furious. She swallowed hard and ran a hand over her hair before running down the hall and down the stairs. The entire time, she had been thinking of a way to kill Macy, but now, that had changed.
Shea couldn't believe it. Everything was falling into place but now it all changed. Now Macy was pregnant and Shea didn't know what to do. She wasn't all heartless and she didn't even have anything against Macy except when it came to Xavier.
She was in love with him. He was her mate and his number one goal was to kill Cameron and to make him suffer. So it was her goal too, but now Macy was pregnant and Shea couldn't find the will to kill a pregnant woman with an innocent child on the way.
Something hard hit her shoulder and she spun around to see the awful Willa Coleman, glaring at her.
"Watch where you're going, traitor." She hissed at her. Shea snarled.
"I can see why your mate left you," Willa's eyes filled with pain and Shea smirked. "Anyone would have left you, you pathetic waste." Willa growled and her eyes darkened, but Willa's sister came rounding the corner, grabbing her sister before she could do anything.
"I'll kill you, Shea! If it's the last thing I do!" Willa shouted after her as she turned around and left the building. It was the last time she was going to be there.
"Cam? Cam, are you okay?" Macy grabbed Cameron's arm, her fingers digging into his skin as he stared blankly at her. His heart, he felt, had stopped. It wasn't that he wasn't happy, he was ecstatic. No, what made his heart stop was the fear. He knew Xavier was going to stop at nothing to see them both dead and now that Macy was carrying his child, he knew he wouldn't be merciful. He'd have an even better reason to kill him and her.
Macy felt panic seep into her body. She was sure he would at least be happy, but all he looked was shocked and...and in pain.
"Cam, say something. Anything." Cam blinked, his eyes finally seeing her. His eyes dropped to her stomach then lifted back up to her eyes.
"I... I..." Cam stuttered. Macy swallowed hard against the ball in her throat as she took her hand away from his arm. A tense silence filled the room and Cam instantly felt guilty.
"I'm... I'm gonna go find Willa." Macy said, her voice tight as she stood up from the bed. Her eyes burned and all she wanted was to get away from Cam. At that moment, it hurt to be around him. She made her way towards the door, only for Cam to grab her hand, stopping her.
"Macy, I'm sorry," Macy squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the words to spill from his lips. How he didn't want this baby and that now wasn't a good time. But then didn't come, instead there was only silence and Macy didn't know if that actually worse than what Cameron had to say.
"Macy," Cam stood and faced his mate, bringing a hand to her cheek as a tear fell. "Macy, I want this baby." Macy lifted her head and stared wide eyed at him.
"Now isn't the greatest of times, but it's better than never and you have no idea how excited I am." He grinned and Macy smiled, laughing as he wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her to his chest. Realizing he was holding her quite tightly, he let go instantly, his hands holding her waist gently, knowing his child was within her. He looked into her eyes and leaned down, giving her the sweetest of kisses on her lips.
Now he had something more to fight for than just having his mate. Now he had a child and now he had ambition to get this done, to extinguish Xavier and to finally have the family of his dreams.
Shea swallowed hard as she watched Xavier begin to pace and when he paced, it wasn't good. She had just finished telling him the news of Macy being pregnant. So far he hadn't said a single word and has paced for ten minutes.
"I... I can't kill her if she's pregnant, Xavier. I won't kill an innocent child." Shea said and Xavier continued to pace. Xavier knew she couldn't have killed Macy anyway. It wasn't her nature.
"Maybe we can just forget all this, I mean, is Macy really worth going to war for? What about us, we're mates and I want to be with you, but I can't if you get killed by Cameron or his pack. I'll lose you and I don't know if I could take that." The emotion in her voice caused him to stop pacing and look over at her. He could tell her was trying very hard not to cry. He sighed and walked over to her, pulling her to his chest and kissing her head.
"Macy was my prize, Shea. I got her, she is mine. I don't want her for her body, or her mind, just her soul. She's a human, insolent and naïve. I want her as my slave, as my worker," he looked down into Shea's eyes. "I want her back because Cameron does not deserve such a girl like her." She furrowed her brow.
"But he loves her."
"Loves her because that's what the pull does, it draws mates together, and he wouldn't know love if it hit him in the face."
"Macy believes him, every word he says." Xavier snorted and laughed.
"Of course she did. She wouldn't know truth from lie if it was standing right in front of her. All Cameron feels in the desire to be with his mate, to take what is naturally his. He doesn't love her. He loves the idea of her. He loves the idea of being in a family with his mate. He doesn't love her and that's how we'll win," Xavier grinned. "We'll put her against him. We'll get her on our side and have her absolutely destroy him"
