Chapter 19

The sun peaked into the room, shining its golden rays into the now mated couples bedroom. It's morning light pierced the sleeping minds that occupied the room, bringing forth a comfortable awakinging. Awakinging in their soul mates arms.

Macy's head was buried against Cam's chest, her body molding to his as if it was meant it be. Cameron's head rested against hers, her scent drifting in and out of his nose, easing his heart and his wolf, knowing she was safe in his arms. A smile came across his face as she yawned.

"Good morning." He whispered, his voice husky. Macy smiled against his skin, giggling as he buried his head into her neck.

"Good morning." She whispered back. He kissed the side of her neck, pulling away and gazing lovingly into her face. She was smiling, radiant, as he gazed at her. His thumb brushed across her cheek.

"Did you sleep okay?" He asked and she nodded.

"I slept perfectly." He smiled as she did too. His heart melted at the sweetness of her voice and of the warmth of her skin against his. He pressed a soft kiss to her's and pulled her closer.

"I have to go, I'm afraid." He said sadly and she sighed against his chest. His arms wound tighter around her at her dejected sigh.

"I know." She whispered, wishing things were different so he wouldn't have to go. Her eyes closed as he kissed her forehead before letting her go. As he sat on the edge of the bed, Macy reached forward and grabbed his hand. He looked back into her hazel eyes.

"Be safe, okay?" He gave a tight smile and nodded as he squeezed her hand back, hoping to reassure her.

"I will, I promise." She smiled as he tucked her under the covers, knowing she was still very tired. He brushed a soft kiss against her lips.

"I'll be back by sundown." She nodded into the pillow as she yawned.

"I love you." She said sleepily and he smiled, his heart warming as her eyes closed.

"I love you, too." He kissed her cheek and went to the bathroom. He cleaned himself up and dressed, giving his now resting mate a longing look of endearment before leaving the room as silent as he could.

Macy slept peacefully for the next three hours, and when she finally decided to get up, she wished Cameron was by her side. She sat up, yawning and rubbing her eyes as she grabbed Cameron's shirt and put it over her head. She needed a shower before leaving the room. She gasped when striking bolts of pain flared down her legs.

She collapsed back onto the bed, her cheeks flushing even though no one was around. She remembered last night and a smile fought its way onto her face. Oh, how she wished she could relive that night.

After a few minutes, she decided and bath would probably be better. To soothe her aching body. It took her a few minutes to fill the bath, but when she did, she sighed pleasantly when the hot water wrapped around her, beginning its therapy.

Because Macy and Cameron where now mated, Macy's feelings and thoughts entered Cameron's mind. If Macy thought hard enough about Cameron, she could actually speak to him. It was a benefit of finding your true mate and mating with them.

So as the day wore on, Cameron couldn't stop smiling. He knew how happy Macy was, could feel how giddy she was and it took all of his willpower to not jump for joy. Because making war preparations wasn't anything to be jumping for joy about.

There was a few quarrels with some of Xavier's men, but nothing serious. Some of Cameron's men came back injured and some back dead. It was a sacrifice, and Cameron hated having to tell the soldiers family, but it was something he had to do.

The sun had set about an hour ago, and Macy knew she shouldn't be worried, but she was. Cameron's well being was her main priority and she was constantly worried about him. And Xavier.

She didn't care for Xavier, not in the slightest. But she was worried about what he was going to do. And if Cameron would be able to defend against it. Xavier was powerful and had connections. Macy wasn't sure if Cameron had the same connections, but Xavier had a silver tongue and could ease an agreement out of a powerful Alpha to help him.

Macy was sitting in the kitchen, tapping her foot anxiously against the hardwood floor as she waited for Cameron to come home. She looked out the window and grinned as Cameron and Riley stepped out of a large black SUV. Both looked exhausted. Macy stood up quickly and when the door opened, Cameron gave Riley a command and he ran off.

When Cameron closed the door, Macy's scent hit him and he felt proud as his own scent was laced with hers. She was smiling as he came in, giving her a tired smile. He came towards her and she hugged him tightly around the neck.

He melted in her arms, buried his head into her hair. She was exactly what he needed after a long and stressful day. She pulled back and held his tired face in her hands.

"Are you hungry?" She asked and he suddenly realized how famished he was. He had skipped lunch due to a fight with a few rogues. He nodded and she smiled. She lead him to the table and sat him down.

"What are you in the mood for?" She asked as she began to massage his tight shoulders. He sighed, not really hungry, at the feeling of her magical fingers working against his muscles. He dropped his head and relaxed, feeling sleep coming on. He heard her giggle as she lifted his chin, his sleepy eyes meeting her awake ones.

"Come on. Let's get you to bed." He nodded and followed behind her up the stairs to their bedroom. He yawned and he kicked off his shoes, smiling at her giggle as he fell onto the bed.

"Cam," he sighed as she climed in beside him. He felt her fingers work on his right muscles. "You can't sleep in jean shorts." She giggled and he cracked open one eye. She was smiling and he groaned as rolled over and sat up, getting off the bed.

He stretched and looked at his mate, seeing her so small and innocent. She smiled at him, her eyes happy and filled with joy. He took off his shorts, loving how her cheeks flushed.

He got back onto the bed and grinned as he wrapped his arms around her, tucking her to his chest. Her arms wrapped around his neck, giggling as he peppered kisses on her face.

"I missed you." He whispered in her ear. She sighed and leaned against him as he kissed her shoulder.

"I missed you too." She whispered back and he stared into her eyes before leaning forward and capturing her lips in a fervent kiss. His hands gripped her waist as her fingers curled into his hair.

"I'm sorry I had to leave you this morning." He whispered as he laid her down, brushing her hair out of her face. Her hand traced his jaw.

"It's okay. I understand." He smiled, relieved to know that his mate was so understanding. He kissed her again before laying his head on her shoulder. His eyes closed as her hand smoothed over his head, a soft melody coming from her voice.

He couldn't hear the words, but her voice was heaven like. Angelic. He felt his heart beat a little faster as he realized how deeply in love he was with her.

Finally, he fell asleep, a dream he wished he would have never had coming into focus.

He was tied, chain in silver. He was burning with pain and it hurt to breath. He heard a scream and he yelled in outrage as Xavier appeared, his black eyes dark pits as he tossed Macy onto the ground.

"Let her go!" Cameron yelled, anger coursing through his veins. Xavier laughed as Macy curled into a ball.

"I own her. She is mine. I will do what I please. Which is end her and the child's pathetic lives." He hissed. Cameron screamed in pain and horror as Xavier crouched down, grabbing Macy's throat and lifting her off the ground. She was gasping for air as his hand squeezed around her neck. He screamed for her release.

He felt his heart breaking, he felt his world beginning to dim as she stopped moving.

"Macy! Macy, no!" He was sobbing, his body burning as an empty feeling filled his chest. Xavier laughed as he tossed Macy's lifeless body to the ground.

"You failed, Cameron!" Xavier's laughed echoed as he felt himself being shaken.

"Cameron!" Xavier blurred and Macy's body disappeared.

"Cameron wake up!" His eyes snapped open and he gaped as he sat up, clutching a hand to his rapidly beating heart. Macy filled his vision, looking at him worriedly. He stared at her, his dream felt so real. He touched her face and felt himself choke on a sob. She was alive. She was safe.

Macy held Cameron in her arms as he cried. A few of her own tears slipped at how much pain he was in. It broke her heart. She kissed his head as she wiped his tears.

"It's alright. It was just a dream." She whispered as he wrapped his arms around her, taking a deep breaths and calming his wolf by her scent. Slowly he stopped, clinging to her desperately and begging the Moon Goddess to keep her safe, no matter what the cost.
