Chapter 15
When the sun rose the next morning, Macy awoke to find Cameron missing, again, but a note in his place.
Macy,
I'm sorry that you have to wake up alone again, but I had to get started on the war preparations. I hope you understand. See you when I get back tonight.
Love,
Cam
She smiled in spite of herself. She never had had someone leave her a note before and she knew she was going to remember this moment and all the words written in the paper for the rest of her life. Placing the paper on the bedside table, Macy got up and went to Cameron's dresser, looking for a change of clothes. She was in need of a shower.
She found a pair of basketball shorts that she knew where way to big for her, but it was the best thing she could find. She then found a shirt and smiled at how ironic the wolf on the front of the shirt was. She then went to the bathroom and locked the door before starting the shower and getting in.
The entire time she showered, Macy couldn't stop smiling. Cameron's note had left her in a really good mood and even though he wouldn't return till that night, she was still glad he had told her where he was going. She shivered as she got out, quickly wrapping herself up in a towel and drying herself off.
After dressing, she ran the brush through her wet hair and began to braid it. Back with Xavier, she had seen and had been shown many braiding techniques and even though it brought back bad memories, Macy tried to stay on the positive. Maybe Cam will like it this way, she thought. After braiding her hair, she heard her stomach growl in hunger.
A nervous energy filled her body at the thought of walking down the stairs and into the kitchen by herself. She was painfully shy, yet she knew, one day, that talking to these people would a daily thing. She took a deep breath and stared defiantly at her reflection.
"Do not be afraid." She said to herself, letting out another breath before turning towards the door and opening it. She looked around and saw one of Cameron's hoodies laying on the backside of a chair. She quickly put it on, smiling as his familiar musk filled her nose. The hoodie was very big and she had to roll up the sleeves to see her hands. She slipped on a pair of socks and started to pick up Cameron's room.
A smile came across her face as a realization came to her. It was also her room.
Since meeting Cameron, her life has gone from bad to good in only a matter of days. It was the least she could do to help clean up the room a little bit. It only took a few minutes seeing as how the room wasn't entirely dirty. Besides the fact that Cameron left his jeans and shirts on the ground.
But the entire time she worked, Macy was smiling. She was so happy. Cameron's note had left her in a very good mood. She checked the clock to see that it was only 8:30, and her stomach growled. Taking a deep breath, Macy came to a realization. That she would have to walk down the stairs and into the kitchen. Hopefully Claire would be there because she was the only person she knew.
She opened the door and stepped out into the deserted hallway. She could hear the laughter and soft music coming from downstairs. Her stomach was a tight bunch of nerves as she gripped the hand railing and took the steps one at a time. Her hands were shaking, she was so nervous and anxious.
When she reached the bottom of the staircase, the laughter and soft music had disappeared. As she walked towards the kitchen, she spotted a few people leaving the kitchen and going out the door. Why would they leave? When she entered the kitchen, it was only Claire and a few other girls.
When Claire spotted her future Luna, lingering around the doorway to the kitchen, she was more than happy to help. Cameron had given her strict instructions to keep a close eye on her and to make sure she was fed.
"Good morning, Macy." She diapered her head in respect, the other girls following.
"Good morning." Was Macy's soft reply. Claire smiled and guestured to the other girls.
"This is Lillian and Willa." The dark haired girl, Lillian, smiled an dipped her head. Willa, a girl with dark aburn hair dipped her head with a grin.
"We've heard a lot about you." Willa said as Macy came in, taking a seat at the breakfast bar.
"Like what?" Macy prayed it wasn't anything bad. Claire went to the cupboard and got out a cup, going to the fridge and pouring Macy a cup of orange juice.
"That you can play the piano like a professional. Even better than Alpha Cameron, too." Lillian finished and the girls laughed, causing Macy to smile.
"I don't know. Cameron is really good." Macy said, smiling gratefully at Claire as she placed the cup in front of her.
"But you're better. Trust us, we play the violin." Lillian said and Macy smiled.
"Maybe we could all play together." Macy said and Lillian and Willa grinned at each other. They knew Macy was very shy and they were very happy to see that she was opening up.
"That would be great! How about after lunch?" Willa said and Macy nodded.
"Okay." Lillian and Willa smiled before they left the kitchen.
"What did you want to eat?" Claire asked and Macy shrugged, looking around the kitchen.
"Whatever you had, I guess." Claire grinned.
"Scrambled egg sandwich coming right up."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The day had been one of the best she ever had. Lillian and Willa were experts at the violin and they sounded amazing with Macy at piano. They played together for two hours before Lillian claimed raw fingers. The three girls had become close together through music.
It was about seven in the evening and everyone had gone to their rooms to spend their time by themselves. Macy was thirsty, after spending a few hours talking aimlessly with Lillian, Willa, and Claire. She found out that the three girls were mate less and were very eager to find their mates. They all were about the same age as Macy and that Lillian and Willa were cousins.
No one was in the kitchen as Macy opened the cabinet door, seeing the cups on the high shelf. Everyone was much taller than she was and Macy was standing on her tip toes, her fingers barley brushing across the plastic cup she was trying to reach.
"Need help with that?" She gasped as she felt an arm go around her waist and a hand reach up, grabbing the cup and bringing it down. She knew that voice and the natural musk that followed. She grinned and turned around, smiling up at Cameron as he chuckled. He laughed softly when she threw her arms around his neck, completely forgetting the cup.
"I missed you." She whispered and his arms tightened around her waist.
"I missed you, too." He kissed her cheek and she giggled as he placed her on the counter. They were about the same height now. As she stared at his handsome face, she spotted something that wasn't there before. She frowned and brushed her fingers across the small, but long, cut on his eyebrow.
"What happened?" She asked. Cameron recalled the event and took her hand in his.
"We found a rogue wandering inside our territory. We told him to leave, but he wouldn't. So, we had to make him leave and he fought back. But I'm okay."
"And Riley?" Claire was very proud of her older brother and would be very upset if he was hurt. Cameron smiled at the worry in her voice for his best friend.
"He's fine. Took the rogue down actually." Macy smiled and leaned her head against his chest.
"What did you do today?" He asked as his hand smoothed down her back.
"Nothing much. Just played some piano with Lillian and Willa. And we all talked together." Cameron smiled, happy she was fitting in.
"I like what you did your hair." At first she was confused and she pulled back, before rembering that she had braided it. Cameron smiled and played with the long braid before looking at her.
"Thanks." She said, watching him as he moved in closer.
"I missed you a lot today." He whispered and she smiled.
"I missed you a lot, too." He placed a soft kiss on her lips, giving her a rush of warmth. But he pulled away too soon and she hid her disappointment. His hand cupped her cheek, lifting her head and meeting her gaze. He had missed her more than he thought he would have and he couldn't wait to get home. She smiled at him and he at her before he leaned down and kissed her again, this time taking his time. Her hands had just found his hair when someone walked in.
"Alright, mate less Beta coming in." Macy pulled away quickly, her cheeks reddening as Cameron groaned.
"Riley, you always choose the wrong times to intrude." Cameron said, smiling as Macy buried her head into his chest.
"Sorry not sorry." Riley chuckled and Macy lifted her head and watched as Riley approached. Macy could see that Claire was his sister. They had the same blonde hair and brown eyes, except Riley had more brown in his hair.
"You must be Macy. I couldn't get this fool to stop talking about you." Cameron punched him in the arm as Macy giggled.
"Really?" She asked, pretending to be skeptical as Cameron rolled his eyes, his arm winding around her waist.
"Yeah, I think I know you just as much as he does." Riley chuckled as he leaned against the fridge. Cameron sighed and shook his head before looking down at Macy.
"Macy's been hanging out with your sister the last two days." Cameron said, his hand squeezing her hip.
"Oh, God." Riley muttered and Macy laughed.
"I love Claire. She's so nice. I really feel welcome." Macy said as she laid her head on Cameron's chest.
"Well at least she's nice to you." Riley said and Macy rolled her eyes as Cameron watched his best friend and mate converse.
"She's really proud of you, Riley." Macy said and Riley looked at her, a knowing smile on his face.
"Yeah. I know," he started as he pushed off the fridge. "Well, I'd better go get the meeting prepared. Ten minutes, Cameron." Macy looked quizically up at Cameron as Riley left the room. Cameron nodded and looked down at Macy.
"It's to tell the pack about Xavier and you. I want you to be there." He said, his hands smoothing over her arms. She swallowed nervously, but nodded.
"Okay." Cameron caught her nervousness.
"You won't have to speak unless you want to. No one will judge you if you don't." She nodded and Cameron smiled as he kissed her cheek. Macy touched his chest unexpectedly and he looked at her confused. Her eyes smiled and a smirk played on her lips.
"You missed." Cameron chuckled and set his forehead on hers.
"Did I?" He mused before kissing her softly. Her hands found his hair, bringing him closer. His hands gripped her hips as he stepped in between her legs. His hands trailed away from her hips, guiding her legs around his waist. His hands were hot against her bare skin and the kiss quickly changed direction.
His tongue touched her lips, the action surprising her that she gasped, giving Cam the perfect entrance. She sighed against him as his tongue searched her mouth, tracing over the edges of her own tongue. Her hands gripped his hair tightly, bringing him impossibly closer. Her body, and his, were buzzing from the immediate contact.
But neither one of them minded. They were in perfect company and nothing could tear them apart.
Their session last fifteen minutes and Riley sent someone to go get Cameron, embarrassed to walk in on such a session.
"Um, Alpha?" A squeak of a voice broke the mated couple out of their session, Cameron sighing as he turned around. "T-the meeting is starting." She scurried off as he nodded his head, dismissing her. Cameron turned back to his pink lipped mate and took her down, kissing the top of her head.
"Come on, let's get this over with." He said and Macy nodded, walking hand in hand towards the conference hall.
Hey everyone, I just posted a new story. It's called Taken and I would appreciate ever so much if you could go check it out! Shy Justice
