Chapter 11

Macy, I need you stay calm." Cam tried to calm her down, his hands holding her shoulders tightly as she hyperventilated.

"He's here. He's here." She gasped, her face ashen white and her eyes wide with fear. Cam shook her a little bit and she turned her horror filled gaze up to his.

"And I'm not going to let him take you back, do you understand that Macy? I will not let him take you back." Her eyes were filling with tears and Cam wrapped her up in his arms, burying his face into her neck. She was gasping for air and he could feel her tears touch his skin.

"I'm scared, Cam." She whimpered, shaking in his arms.

"I know, I know. But you don't need to be," he pulled away and wiped the tears from her cheeks. "You're safe. He's not going to take you back. I promise." Macy sniffled and nodded before pressing herself back into the safety of Cam's warm arms. His hand smoothed down her back as he pressed his lips to her head, reassuring her that she wasn't going back with that monster. Macy pulled away.

"You should probably go. He hates waiting." She said, shivering. Cam gave a grim smile.

"And he came to my territory. If he wants to speak with me, he's just going to have to wait." He said and Macy was in awe at his determination. And it made her smile. Cam took a deep breath and picked up her cold hands.

"I'm sorry." He said suddenly, and it confused her.

"For what? You didn't do anything wrong." She said. Cam's dark blue eyes settled on her hazel ones.

"For bringing you into this mess." He dropped his head and Macy didn't want him blaming himself. It was definitely not his fault. For any of this. She stepped forward and looked into his downcast eyes.

"It isn't your fault or mine, Cam. This happened for a reason and I'm not going to let you blame yourself for what destiny has in store for us." It was probably one of the most insightful things Macy has ever heard herself say and Cam's eyes softened. Then, without thinking, she leaned up on her tiptoes and pressed her lips against his cheek. It caused him to smile and a small amount of color to possess her cheeks.

"You should probably go." She said softly and Cam nodded stiffly. He went to his dresser and took out a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Macy covered her mouth to keep from gasping as he just began to undress before her. Her cheeks were scarlet red as he put on his jeans, his eyes quickly glancing towards her. A grin lit up his face at the shocked expression on her face.

"Sorry." He shrugged and Macy sent him a small glare that only made him laugh.

"No you're not." It was the first time Macy had started playful banter with him and it caused Cam to grin even more.

"You're right," he slipped the shirt over his head and walked towards her. "I'm not." Her heartbeat picked up as he approached her, a look of pure adoration on his eyes. His eyes skimmed over her figure and he tapped his chin in thought.

"You know," he began. "You look really good in my clothes." Macy looked down and noticed that she was, in fact, wearing his clothes. One of his t-shirts hung loosely on her thin shoulders, giving him a clear view of her bony skeleton. Her cheeks reddened as she realized she was also wearing a pair of his boxers for shorts. Cam chuckled and she gasped as his hands were placed on her waist.

"Don't worry. I'll take you shopping for your own clothes. Eventually." He hummed into her ear. She smiled and leaned into him. Her own clothes. She hadn't had anything that was her's in a long time. Cam stood there, holding his mate as she traced her finger against his arm. She had forgotten all about Xavier, just like Cam wanted. He leaned down and kissed her forehead, smiling as she blushed.

"It's cute when you blush like that," he chuckled and it only made her blush more. "See? Adorable." She couldn't help but giggle as he buried his head into her neck.

"Cam, you're avoiding the inevitable." She whispered into his ear as she softly touched the back of his head, his soft brown hair covering her thin fingers. He sighed, wishing he didn't have to deal with Xavier this early in the morning. He pulled away and it took his breath away with how breathtakingly beautiful his mate was. Her long, dark brown hair fell in long ringlets against her shoulders. Her hazel blue eyes stared up at him, her eyes wide and innocent. He fought the impulse to kiss her, again, and took a step back.

"Alright, I'm going now." He said, sighing. Macy gave a tight smile.

"I'll be here." She said, sitting down on the edge of the bed, folding her hands into her lap. Cam smiled.

"I'll send Claire up here so you're not all alone." Surprise and fear filled her eyes.

"But I don't know her." She said and Cam kneeled in front of her, laying his hands on her knees.

"I know, but you will. I'll also post some guards outside the door, just incase it gets out of hand, you'll be safe." Her eyes were wide.

"And you trust these people?" She breathed and he nodded confidently.

"With my life. Trust me, Macy. I wouldn't let anything happen to you." He said and she took a deep breath before nodding.

"Okay." She said and Cam smiled before kissing her cheek.

"I'll be back in a few minutes." He said, quickly contacting Claire through the pack link.

"Claire, I need you to come to my room and sit with Macy."

"Yes, sir. I'll be right there." Cam looked at his mate and saw how anxious she looked.

"Anything that's mine, is yours." He said, gesturing to the room and Macy looked up at him.

"So, I can play the piano?" She asked and Cam grinned.

"Of course." She smiled brightly and nodded. Cam smiled and waited till Claire showed up and few minutes later before leaving. But, before he left, Macy jumped up from the bed and ran towards him, her arms wrapping around his waist, her head pressed into the middle of his back.

"Be safe, Cam." She whispered and Cam knew right then and there, that he was going to do whatever he could to protect her from the monster downstairs.

Follow your heart, no matter how far it takes you.
