Chapter Twelve: Enough Is Enough

"My grandpa?" You ask in shock.
"Yes (Y/N)." He said, slowly making his way into your room. He had both a walker and an oxygen cart. You expected your grandma to be there but she wasn't. You wondered why but you decided not to ask. Your grandpa settled next to your bed. He gently stroked your face and murmured, "Ah yes. You're so beautiful. You look just like your mother."
"Where is my mother grandpa?" You asked, holding his dry, wrinkly hand.
"Sweetie, she died of an overdose as soon as you ran away." He said. "Do you remember? You ran away from us and went all the way to Cincinnati?"
"I don't remember." You say. "How old am I now Grandpa?"
"I believe that you are twenty-one years old." He said. "Why do you ask? Are you getting Alzheimer's like your grandma had?"
"Oh." You say. You thought that you were at least eighteen. "How is grandma?"
"She died about three years ago." Grandpa said. "She died right in my arms and she told me that she loved me that if I ever saw you again to tell you that she loved you. So, I'm going to fulfill her wish. (Y/N), Grandma loved you more than words can ever say. I mean, she spent from the day that you ran away to the day that she died trying to find you."
"Really?" You asked. "She did that?"
"Oh, yes." He said. "It really makes me wonder why no one's heard from you up until now."
"Who knows?" You said. After a few moments of silence, you said, "Grandpa, why didn't you visit me sooner?"
"I had to fly from California all the way to here." He said. "I wish that I could have visited sooner but I can't just teleport here, you know. Though that would be quite nice."
"Wait, so you're telling me that I somehow made it from California to Ohio?!" You said. "How did I manage to do that?"
"You tell me (Y/N)." Grandpa said. "You're the one who ran away, not me."
You wish that you knew. But you had to wait until more memories came along until you started to piece together your past.
Suddenly, your grandpa let go of your hand and put both hands on his chest. He struggled to breathe and he feel to the ground.
"Oh my God!" You screamed loud enough to know that everyone in the hospital heard you. "Help! Someone help!"
"What's going on here?" A doctor who looked to be in his thirties asked.
"My grandpa just collapsed on the ground!" You said. "He's having a heart attack! Please, help him!"
The doctor called in more doctors and they all together lifted your grandpa's body out of the room.

Three painful hours later, the doctor who first came in to see what was going on came into your room. He looked like he was about to deliver bad news.
"Miss (L/N), I'm sorry to inform you but we did everything that we can and your grandpa passed away." He said.
"What?!" You said in complete and utter shock. "No! That's impossible."
"We did everything that we can." The doctor said. "I'm sorry."
You decided at that moment that enough was enough. You got up from your bed, shocked from the feeling that you got when you stood up. You were bedridden for six days after all.
"Uh, what are you doing Miss (L/N)?" The doctor asked with a confused look on his face. "You shouldn't be up and out of bed right now. You should be resting."
"That's complete and utter bullshit!" You screamed. "I've been stuck in this goddamn hospital and bedridden for six days and you have the nerve to tell me that I should be resting?!"
"(Y/N)." The doctor said sternly. "Get back into bed right now."
"No!" You said, hopping on your good foot. You decided that you were going to get the hell out of here. "I don't need this place! I've been here long enough!"
Before the doctor could protest any further, you began the journey to the front desk so that you could check yourself out of the hospital.

You found the receptionist reading a book. You went up the the front desk and somehow managed to keep your cool.
"I'd like to check myself out of this hospital." You said to the receptionist.
She put her book down. But not before putting her bookmark in the page that she was reading. She adjusted her glasses and looked up at you, doing a double take.
"Miss (L/N)!" She said in surprise. "You're in no condition to leave this hospital!"
"I have my brother out in the car." You said, playing by Mark's cover story that claimed that you two were twins. "He's going to take me back to his house and take care of me from there."
"Well, in that case," the receptionist said. "Have him come in here and sign the papers needed to check you out!"
You panicked and made up something on the spot.
"He can't!" You said.
"And why not?" The receptionist asked.
"He's gotta go to work." I said. "He's dropping me off at his house before he heads off to work at the factory."
"I see." The receptionist said, beginning to dig through the file cabinet. She pulled out a two pieces of paper stapled together. "Sign those and you're free to go."
You couldn't contain your excitement as you went through and signed the papers. After you finished, you handed the papers and pen to the lady. You hopped off to the automatic doors and just before you went through them, you yelled, "So long fuckers!"

As soon as you were out of the hospital, you started to get rained on. Rain was pouring down heavily but you didn't really care. You found a small corner of the hospital and sat down. After that, you buried your face in your hands and you cried.
