Chapter Sixty-Five: Can't And Won't Believe It
"I'm free." Mark said, smiling. "Thank you (Y/N)."
"It wasn't me." You admitted. You told him how a nearby needle filled with human blood was injected into his veins every hour on the hour for eight hours (You didn't want to try saying that five times fast, that's for sure). You knew this because, in the injection the you saw, Dark died.
"So, who do you think did it?" Mark asked when you were done telling your story.
You shrugged and said, "I don't know. Beats me."
"You don't think that it was a ghost, do you?"
"Honestly, anything is possible at this point."
He sunk his head, still hanging onto the bars. He then looked at you and said, "(Y/N), you gotta get me out of here."
"And how do you propose that I do that?" You asked. "Do I just go up to the lady at the front desk and say, "Yeah. Um, my boyfriend's demon inside him was killed by a floating needle that I don't really know how it was injected in the first place. Can you let him get out of here? I promise that this is true."?"
"It sounded a lot better in my head." He admitted. "But I believe in you, (Y/N). Find some way to get me out of here."
You saw one of the workers walking by and flagged them down. Surprisingly, they looked happy to be in a place like this. You thought that that was really weird.
"Listen," you said, crossing your arms to show that you meant business. "my boyfriend here is ready to get out."
"It's not that simple." The worker said. "If they want to get out, the patients have to pass a test. If they pass, they get out. If they don't pass, they stay in here for another year until the next test comes around."
"I'm up for it." Mark said. "When's my test?"
She went through her clipboard and read something for a few seconds. When she was done, she put the stack of papers down and looked at Mark.
"It's actually scheduled for right now." She said. "I was just coming to come and get you for it."
"Let's do this!" He said, a bit too hyper than he really should be.
"Very well." She said, taking out a huge ring of keys and trying to find the one that unlocked the one to Mark's cell.
"I'm gonna go." You said to Mark. "I've got homework to do."
It was actually a lie but you thought that you had the right to lie. You didn't want to spend more time in here. You hated hearing all the insane people's screams around you. No, you despised it.
"Okay." Mark said, rubbing your shoulder. "See you whenever."
"Okay." You said, getting your car keys out of your pocket. "See you."
You returned back to the University and locked your car, pocketing your keys. You decided that you would go into the woods for a little while. The school had told you to not go anywhere alone but you've already done it a few times within the last year.
"Besides," you thought to yourself. "it's not even nighttime. And I'll just be a little bit."
But, upon stepping into the woods, you quickly regretted it.
"No." You whispered.
In almost the exact spot that Jet was in a year ago from today, there was another dead body.
