Chapter One: Discontent Admiration
The school was bustling with life once more as the beginning of the school year loomed over all of the students. There were children running around excitedly, searching for friends from other dimensions that they couldn’t see over the break. The sounds of happy laughter could be heard as some students laughed about some of the stupid activities that they got up to during the summer break.
This is Mystic High. One of the most prestigious schools for young dimensionals that are known for their strength. In particular, Mystic prides itself on their high royal count. Nine out of ten of the next generation’s royals attend Mystic High, nine of the most powerful dimensionals that the dimensional land has ever seen. This includes the well known superior royals: princesses Eliane Sunlight and Amaris Moonlight. People say that they are the true embodiment of their element. Some say that their names mean that they were the children of their elements, which is what makes their magic so unique. No one has seen magic much like Eliane and Amaris’. All of these expectations for two girls who were just trying to fit in.
While princess Eliane had a good family history and a large reputation to protect her from most of the stress, Amaris was quite the opposite. After her father became king almost thirty years ago, their family’s reputation plummeted due to his poor attitude towards his duties.
While everyone had every faith that princess Eliane would be the queen that everyone expected her to be, there was a lot of speculation over how well Amaris would do as she was raised by such an imperfect king.
In reality, Amaris hated her father and everything he stood for. She looked down on his beliefs and was constantly using her little influence to try and improve her kingdom’s quality of life, even if it ment deliberately defying her father and accepting any punishment he would give her as a result. You see, Amaris truly believed that her kingdom would always be top priority. Amaris would refuse to eat if she saw the castle staff eating poorly, she would refuse to sleep until she was certain that her people were safe. However, no one saw any of that. They just saw the mess that she would be after doing such protests. A lot of people saw that and saw her as weak. If Amaris’ magic was drained from staying awake, using protective spells to prevent intruders, they’d claim that she wasted it showing off her strength. If she was weak from not eating, they’d assume that she had refused to eat as the food ‘wasn’t up to her standards’. When she was injured from a fight while trying to prevent corruptive attacks, people would assume that she picked a fight with someone random and got injured.
The fact was that everyone was so quick to jump to conclusions that they never saw how hard she worked for them.
The crowd suddenly fell silent as the royals entered the school, speaking quietly among one another. In the front of the group, Eliane and Amaris, looking as royal as they could, backs straight, hands folded either in front of them or behind their backs, heads high. Just as they were told to. Eliane was wearing a warm smile, while Amaris kept a blank expression as when she wore a smile people just made comments about how fake it seemed. These are our royals. The royals run this school with an iron fist. Students relied on their royals for their own safety as the royals were the only ones with the strength to be able to fend off corrupt dimensionals. The royals were truly a gift from the elements for these students.
Everyone admired the royals, though for some…
That admiration wasn’t always pleasant.
