Chapter 13 - LITTLE TIME

Feelings are scary but to not feel is scarier, and while healing takes time so does feelings.

Manik - Navya and her parents are here.

Nandini - will it make me selfish of I say I need time to meet them?

She asked this so innocently that for a second it seemed like a tiny little girl wanting her parents to understand just by the look of her innocent eyes and Manik was that guardian for her.
It is said that an unconscious person who went through a lot of trauma when wakes up makes an instant bond with the face his/her eyes first lands , in most cases it's a therapist in her case it was Manik.

There was this underlying warmth and the feeling of being comfortable only around him as of now, his aura radiated nothing but warmth, his eyes held nothing but a desire of her being in less pain.

Manik like a guardian softly caressed her hair and nodded slightly bit enough for her to take a sign of relief.

Manik - Do you want anyone to be with you right now? Anyone? Someone from the hospital, any family you'd want to call , anything? Hmm?

He said softly , he knew that she knew how this works but she didn't know that he wasn't supposed to be here right now, he could have happily be enjoying his favourite Chicken Biryani made by his mother and slept for straight 8 hours without any disturbance, but he was here. It was not an option but a choice and his choice was clear.

Nandini - can you stay a little bit longer, just till the time I fall asleep?

She had no idea why she had asked him, the thought of anyone else in her room alone scared her. Everyone thought that she was brave, so brave but being brave does not mean you don't feel scared, specially when this girl had her world collapsed in front of her.

Manik would have stayed even if she didn't ask this to him but now that she did, there was no way in hell he was going to deny her.

He sat again beside her after checking the monitors and changing her drips, he was tired but so was she and even in all their tiredness and pain, when he sat next to her, this time on the bed , they smiled at each other because let's be honest you don't know what's going to happen next for all you care is the person next to you might not breathe the next second and that one smile of yours might be the last memory he/she would carry.

They smiled at each other and looked at the sunset together , the smile however intact, one for showing her gratitude other for making himself more than her realise that it's okay, it's going to get better, may be it will take some time but it will get better. Tomorrow will come, the night will pass, the sun will rise and may be one day, after 10 years or so they'll look at the rising sun together with a coffee in one hand and reminiscing how they spent looking at that one sunset 10 Yeats back which has risen now after years for them.

Nandini - It's beautiful

She said looking at the sunset after days of being captured in a dark room, her eyes shined as the fading bright yellow changed its colour to orange, then a little pink ,the sun in her eyes, and she in his.

Manik - It is.

Nandini - What's your favourite colour?

She asked out of blue taking Manik aback with her question.

If she would have asked him that question around 14 days back ,he would without a doubt replied 'red' his favourite colour since the very first time he saw it. Red was his colour, the colour of love and blood.

But her asking this now, he wasn't sure of what to reply, he closed her eyes for a second and the image of her covered with blood popped in his head and he felt goosebumps on parts of him that he never knew existed.

Manik - It was red, I don't think it is anymore.

He replied honestly.

Nandini - why?

She asked softly.

Manik nodded his head in no and gulped.

Manik - May be some other day Nandini. You need rest now. Sleep.

Nandini - I... I don't want to sleep.

Manik - Why
This time Nandini nodded her head in no.
Nandini - may be next time.

Manik - Are you scared for tomorrow?

The room so silent.

Nandini - Yes

She replied almost inaudible

Manik -I am too

She smiled slightly
He smiled back slightly too
And just like that everything else faded in oblivion.

Look who kept her promise? 👀

I gave two relatively lighter chapters because it was getting too heavy but now let's get back to the track what happened in those 6 days and 7 nights and what is going to happen in another 45 days.

How's the chapter?

Rate it out of 10.

Did you like their little moments?

Also the response are reducing, nice.
