It's said where there is a will, there is a way,  not exactly. There is way, always someway or the other, there is a way and it's okay if you don't have the will just keep going until you find one.

Things moved in a slow motion yet somehow it was the fastest life have been in that hospital of New York.
Nandini Murthy has finally gained consciousness , she was alive and breathing and seeing the world that now had 7 people surrounding her, a white and teal blue room covered with white floral print curtain from where the light of the sun pierced her skin but the light in her eyes pierced the skin of everyone present there.

"I...i am alive" those were the very first words of her after she opened her eyes, almost after her rebirth.

"Yes, you are." Manik had replied with a tiniest smile that made her feel so warm and fuzzy. He was there, her role model, someone she looked up-to so much and he had saved her as promised.

Raj Malhotra - Welcome abode Nandini Murthy , we will have to examine you now, be comfortable and tell us where you feel pain.

They one by one started checking everything right from her legs to hands, from head to toe while a little smile lingered on her face,  a face that hissed at the slowest touch on her skin but her smile never faltered and everyone noticed it.

Cabir - before we question you Nandini, what's the reason of your smile? Not that I am complaining, I am sure everyone present here had prayed day and night for this but I know as a doctor that you must be in a lot of pain, almost as close as like a truck just went from above you.

Nandini's smile widened and her cheeks immediately started hurting so she dimmed it a little and whispered in the same crooked crackled voice

Nandani - I am alive.

Cabir smiled wider

Nandini - I.. I honestly didn't think I'd make it but I did, I wanted ...
She paused, getting tired from talking half a sentence and then continued again

I wanted to live, thank you.  Thank you... for m
For not letting me die.

She completed and everyone in room looked at her in awe, it's true that they treated her because that's what a doctor is supposed to do and everyone of them has seen patient and their family falling on their feet thanking them, crying and they had always felt that it was their job  and they just did their job but here seeing her smiling amongst hundreds of bruises and saying thank you for not letting her die did something to their hearts, they knew it was their job yet somehow this was personal.

She looked at Manik who not for once had taken her eyes off her ,who had this lump in his throat that couldn't be spitted nor swallowed.

Manik- To some extent yes, but it wasn't us Nandini, it was you. Moreover, don't you remember what I said?  we have to work together.

He said and everyone else smiled including her, the same smile that made its way to her yes and once again the universe danced in her eyes like the time they had figured out the case TOGETHER.

That's when they heard a knock on the door and a nurse entered .
Nurse - Officers are outside waiting for the statement.

As soon as she completed her words, the smiles dropped from their faces,

Heartbeat rose,

Smile dropped

Universe stopped dancing

And a world full of sorrows was waiting on the door.

Muttering a lot of courage Nandani whispered

"Can it wait till tomorrow, Ple...please"
Heartbreaks are not always caused because of love, sometimes it's because of fear.

Manik's heart just broke a little knowing what was coming and when she whispered so softly almost pleading to shift it to tomorrow, he was not letting the officers come inside, he would not.

Manik - Tell them the patient is not stable enough to give a statement now, and that they'll  have to come tomorrow or wait tell them to call and check first before coming.

Raj Malhotra - And the news of her waking up should not go out of this four wall as of now. AM I CLEAR?

everyone nodded
Nandini - Thank you.
Manik slightly touched her forehead like a guardian silently stopping her thank you and assuring her that nothing would happen without her consent, never again.

Nandini was very grateful and even in this state when every part of her body was screaming in pain, her heart fluttered a little at his action of keeping his hands on her forehead. It was nothing, yet it meant so much to her.

She needed a little time, it wasn't even 20 mins since she opened her eyes, she needed time to adjust with the surroundings, people and most importantly the reason of her being here. Which made her eyes widened as reality came crashing down

Nandini - Are you all in Delhi or I am in New york.

Yes, it was pretty sksksks question to ask but her mind went freezyyy,  in the happiness of waking up, she had forgotten to ask the most important question and that made everyone else chuckle .

Abhimanyu - Well for starters baby girl, we are all in New York.

He said and winked which made Manik glare at him.

It was a tough situation, but these little moments after days of continues and rigorous painful days meant the world for her and little did she knew, it meant so much to everyone present their too.

In amidst all the chaos, she had found a way, there wasn't any will yet, but it was her way, and she'll walk through it.

"the best thing about the moon and the sky and the stars is that while you can't ever take a picture of them that does them justice......you don't need to. they're gonna be there tomorrow"
