5 Hangover
Vanessa POV
And once again my head was pounding like crazy as I slowly but surely woke up. But then I realized that it wasn't just my head. The phone on my bedside table was also buzzing. Squinting my eyes, I reached for it.
"Hello?" I said as I answered the call.
"Good morning, sunshine." said Rhea's too-cheerful voice.
"Please don't shout like that." I whispered as I massaged my forehead. Not that there was much point.
"Are you hungover, Ness? No surprise... Come on get ready. It's 10 and you have to check out at 11." she laughed.
"Yeah yeah... I will... What time did we get to the hotel?" I wanted to know.
"Oh, around 2:30. I'll see you downstairs. I'll call D now just to make sure he's getting up," I replied.
I ended the call. But it wasn't long before I heard another buzz, but this time it wasn't my phone. Suddenly I felt the bed move.
"Hey... I'm up, no need to be annoying." said the voice next to me and ended the call after just a few seconds.
Then he stretched and yawned with a smile before snuggling back into his pillow. And I felt rather faint.
"D! What the hell!" I shouted out loud.
Damian was startled and almost fell out of bed. Only then did I realize that he seemed to be naked. I looked down at myself and realized to my horror that I too was only covered by a sheet.
"Oh hey Feliz..." he mumbled, anything but awake.
"What are you doing in my room?" I asked, my voice high and sharp.
"I'm... Wait a minute... What are you doing in my room? Are you naked?" he replied to the question as he looked around quickly.
Now I also spotted his suitcase standing in the corner. A shock ran through me like cold water.
"Oh my God! You're too... Please tell me we didn't do it!" I shrieked, unable to comprehend what had happened.
I tried to remember something. However, I couldn't. The last thing I had was... how we got on the bus. That was all. Everything that must have happened after that was.... blank. Just gone.
"Calm down. I'm sure there's a very simple explanation for this. And believe me. I'm pretty sure we didn't do it," Damian said.
"Pretty sure? Damian, this is not the time for pretty sure! I need absolutely sure!" I replied and wrapped the sheet tighter around me.
God this was so embarrassing. And so beyond anything I usually was. The break-up and his sudden wedding had thrown me completely off track. So much so that I was hardly myself.
"Take a deep breath... I'm very sure you would remember this if we... you know... It's not something you forget." he smirked.
"Oh do you really think this is the time to show off your qualities? Think about it. What's the last thing you remember? Oh, and not that it matters, but I'm sure you'd remember it too, Mister." I said.
"What? Why?" he wanted to know.
"I mean, not that it's important or anything... but... well... I'm kind of a biter." I explained to him.
"Really? Nice!" he mumbled.
"Damian!" I scolded.
"Sorry! It's okay... it's okay... Take it easy... Look... None of us have bite marks or scratches. Not even a hickey. Nothing happened. We were far too drunk for that.
The last... thing I have... we were in the cab back to the hotel... But I think we were alone. You paid with your credit card... I don't remember what time it was. Maybe you have a receipt or something in your handbag." Damian then replied.
I looked around and saw my handbag lying on the chair not far from the bed.
"Turn around," I said.
"Oh come on!" he growled, but did as I said after I gave him a dirty look.
I gathered my clothes as quickly as I could and got dressed. Then I reached for my handbag and searched through it. And indeed, it didn't take me long to find a small piece of paper. Damian was right, it was a receipt from the cab. However, I was alarmed by the time. Because according to what it said, we didn't arrive at the hotel until 4.45 am.
"Oh shit," I muttered.
"What is it?" Damian wanted to know.
"Well from what Rhea said we were back at the hotel by 2:30.... but this says 4:45.... What did we do? Did we leave it alone one more time? Please tell me you remember something." I replied, covering my face with my hands.
"I wish I did. But I don't have anything... Don't worry about it... Whatever it was... I'm sure there's a simple explanation. We'll probably remember after we're no longer hungover." he tried to calm me down.
"Yeah, I'm sure you're right. It's just... I've never had a blackout before." I replied.
