30 Is that real?

Vanessa POV

"Okay, my little mister.... Looking good. Where did your pacifier go? Huh? Did you spit another one out? Pom-pom? Where are you sweetie?" I asked as I took my son in my arms.

In the few weeks that the little man had been in the world, we had used up an astonishing amount of pacifiers. My Pom had taken a liking to running around like a baby herself. She took every opportunity to steal one. Sometimes she would even just pull them out of his mouth before escaping.

It was a good thing that we had been given so many. But I was starting to get the feeling that it would be easier to stop completely. Camilo didn't like them that much anyway.

Just as I had this thought, my dog came into the room and what can I say... She had a pacifier in her mouth again. I couldn't help but giggle.

"Naughty girl. I guess you've won. Now you must own almost 50 of these things. Okay... Mr. Camilo... You take your nap and Mommy starts cooking. Daddy should be home soon. I have a nice, relaxing evening planned," I said and then put him in his Moses basket in the living room.

His eyes were already getting heavy. A contented smile appeared on my face as I looked at him. He really was perfect. And I was slowly getting the hang of the whole mommy thing. Even if it still made me very nervous to be all alone with him.

I went into the kitchen to prepare everything for our evening. It wasn't much because I had bought most of it prepared. That was the best I could do at the moment. The lack of sleep was too severe for anything else.

After about half an hour, I heard the front door open. I quickly washed my hands and then hurried to meet my husband. Even though it had only been a few days, I had missed him a lot. And Damian felt the same way. Of course, it was particularly difficult for him to leave his son behind. He would have loved to put us all in his pocket and take us with him. However, our little man was still a bit too young for that.

"Hey... Welcome home, birthday boy! Happy birthday again, D." I said as I took him in my arms.

"Hi Feliz. Thank you. How are you, beautiful? Where have you hidden our boy?" he asked as he hugged me tightly and slowly rocked me back and forth.

"Oh, he's just having a nap. After all, he has to be fit for his daddy. And I used the time to prepare for our evening," I replied.

"Is that so? And what exactly do you have planned?" he wanted to know as his hands gently stroked my skin.

"We're having a relaxed date night here at home. I've cooked us something nice and then you'll get presents. I've got something really special for you. And then tomorrow your whole crazy family is coming to visit. They wanted to come today, but they wanted you all for myself and Camilo," I explained to him.

"That sounds great. I love you, you know that?" Damian then said.

"Oh, I think I have a really good idea. And you know what? I love you too." I replied and stood on tiptoe to steal a kiss.

"Why don't you go and freshen up? Can I get you something to drink?" I asked afterwards.

"No, no. I want to see my boy first. And you can relax a bit now." he replied and, as if Camilo could read his mind, he started to cry.

He was probably just as expectant as his daddy. Those two... sometimes I couldn't believe how lucky I was.

"Go and wash your hands. I'll get your son. He probably sensed you were home." I laughed and gave him another quick peck.

"Hey champ... Want to see who's home?" I asked the baby as I picked him up.

I gave him a kiss on the forehead the moment Damian came over to us. A broad, love-filled smile spread across his face when he saw Camilo. He gently took him in his arms.

"Hi my buddy. Oh, I've missed me and Mommy. Have you been a good boy while I've been away? Did you take care of everything? That's my boy!" he babbled to him.

I could have listened to him for hours. We sat on the couch together for a while. Pom sat between us and got her cuddles while we enjoyed our time as a family.

"God, that was delicious, Feliz. You know how to spoil your man." Damian said after we had enjoyed our dinner.

"I was hoping you'd say that. Ready for your presents, Mr. Priest?" I asked.

"Always." he smirked.

"Not that, you naughty man. But I'll get back to you, well, in a way the doctor didn't tell me not to. We don't have the green light for what you have in mind yet." I laughed because I knew where his mind was going.

"And besides, you said you were done with it. Have you forgotten?" he wanted to know.

"I um... I don't know what you mean." I said evasively.

"Of course not. I knew you were bluffing anyway." he replied.

"Do you want your presents or not?" I asked afterwards.

"I would love to. But you know you didn't have to get me anything." he said and then pulled me onto his lap.

"I know. But you always spoil us so much, I wanted to do the same. This is small but mighty. You can open everything else afterwards." I replied and took the envelope in my hand and handed it to him.

"What can this be?" he asked, almost confused as to why I was giving him paperwork.

His eyes wandered over the document and I saw the first tears well up in his eyes.

"Is that real?" he wanted to know as he looked deep into my eyes.

"Yes, darling. I've officially changed my surname to Priest. Just like a family should. I know you've called me that many times, but I wanted it to be on all the papers," I explained.

"This is such a great gift, Feliz. I don't even know what to say... Wow... I... I love you." he replied emotionally.

"I love you too. And I wanted to ask you something else... Will you marry me again?" I asked to top it all off.

"Yes, I would love nothing more." he said before reaching for my chin and pulling my face towards his so that he could give me a passionate kiss.
