Chapter 6
Chapter 6
"What now?" Vanilla asked bitterly as she crossed her arms. They were in the place. It seemed a little darker then it had when they'd last ventured there. Though it wasn't a drastic difference. It felt like the seasons changing, it was subtle. Yet it was still noticeable for those who looked close enough. It put Sylvester on edge, he did not like it when the seasons changed. His friends became a lot less talkative.
"We solve the riddle." Kelso said nervously after she shrugged her shoulders. She had lost the passions he once had, she'd had a good night's sleep but she still felt exhausted. "I'll go check on it.."
Though when she returned to the riddle it was unnerving. It had changed. In fact what she saw had her running back to the group . She received many questions and some were tempted to tell her to stop running around and explain herself. Though the answer was rather clear. It was the symbol of the heart.
It was deep black. "What on earth happened?" Addamak questioned , it was a bit unlike him to ask such silly questions. He was starting to feel more than a little frustrated. "Neireith what do you want from us?" He asked to the air but the glowing of the symbols answered his question. If he knew what Neireith sounded like he would've been able to picture him laughing at how clever they were answering that way.
"Hey if you're gonna answer that then how can we answer the riddle?" Tyrell didn't expect an answer. It would have been rather odd to present them with a riddle and then give them the answer. Though he did reply. He replied in a way which some of them were expecting. In a way which confirmed some of their suspicions. Honestly some of them didn't like the way he answered either.
Kelso and Tyrell's chests started to glow rather brightly, though that was something that the fae were expecting, somewhat. What nobody expected was the same to happen to Laylian and Sylvester.
"This isn't some soulmate stuff is it?" Landso asked rather concernedly. He didn't want soulmates to exist. Because if soulmates existed then it meant he had less chances of being with the one he truly loved. "They don't exist do they?" Acheron shoved him a little bit. He was being a little obvious.
"I do not think so." Addamak mumbled. "Perhaps it is merely symbolic? The combining of the dimensions as one. You would need your love to complete the riddles as a sign that the fae and humans can all co-exist."
"That's extremely symbolic and metaphorical." Kelso crossed her arms in hope that the glowing would go away. "Okay you can stop it now..." she was not in a very good mood at that point. "But our relationships are fine...as far as i'm aware." she shared a suspicious look with her twin, who nodded in confirmation.
"Perhaps there are other things which have taken the light away from your heart." Sylvester started to say in deep thought. "You've had a stressful few days." Though his voice was soft it had hit the twins like a ton of bricks. It was true that the twins were trying to forget what had happened. They were never successful but they supposed it was normal to have the thought of a family member who is injured to be constantly on their mind.
"Yeah that would make sense." Tyrell said sadly as Sylvester grabbed his hand and gave it a comforting squeeze. It was hard for them to admit that their nanna being in such a terrible state had such an effect on them. They felt like they should have explained more to her, they should have spent some more time talking to her.
"Maybe that was part of the plan?" Vansilla looked concerned as she stepped forward, her look was perplexed and she seemed extremely concerned. "Would they have known about the riddle? Or that you are the gatekeepers?"
"Well we didn't know until about...right now." Kelso said unsure. Everything about this was uncertain. "Would they have figured it out before we had? Surely they would know much more about the situation then we do." She shrugged nervously. "So ti's just...based on our emotions and actions?"
"They're a part of the prophecy in the first place and it would make sense why they targeted us." Laylian wrapped her arm around Kelso's shoulder . "I think that is also probably the best explanation to how you guys are involved in the prophecy. I guess...you guys are special humans!" She tried to be upbeat about it.
"Feelin real special lil dove." Tyrell joked bitterly. He did feel special he was with Sylvester. That made him feel extremely special. The way that Laylian intended it was to make them feel better, they weren't the ones with all the weight on their shoulders. They were chosen from all of the humans on the planet to be a sort of example, to show that fae and humans can get together and work well.
"What if they're ahead of u in other things?" Landso was worried. The dark fae had gotten close to destroying the prophecy before any of them had even figured it out. They had hurt Hazel and it caused the symbols to react strangely. Landso wasn't sure if it was possible for the prophecy to be wrong. He didn't know if the dark fae could win. Prophecies were never simple.
"Then we shall leap ahead of them. If we stay together." Acheron groaned, he sounded very much like his father. He was surprised that he could point that out since he didn't spend a lot of time with his father. He did know his philosophy.
"You sound like dad-" "-your father" His siblings and Addamak said at the same time which caused some chuckling and embarrassment . It was nice to have that moment, the small chuckle in the midst of chaos.
