Chapter 42

Chapter 42

The octagonal room was decorated beautifully. There was blue banners and roses in every direction that you looked. There was intricate carved wooden benches sprouting from each corner of the room, all in a neat line. In the back of the room stood a grand, blue throne with designs of animals, flowers and thorns carved into the metal and wood.

The blue carpet was centred perfectly. It had gold trimmings on either side of it and it looked as though nobody had stepped on it at all. It had been there for years and it was incredibly well looked after. It was the same as everything else in the room, most of the things in the castle even. Everything was pristine and beautiful.

Excitement and nervousness filled the air, there was chatter all around the castle and in the town. There was a smell of baked goods, flowers and freshly cut grass all throughout the dimension. Even the dark fae had come out from their homes, which had been newly built by some very generous fae.

It was a very important occasion after all. It was the day that Vansilla Rayscor would become queen. The young girl had grown up to the physical age of eighteen. She was stunning with locks of beautiful light golden hair, her eyes still reflected the colour of the sea. She was still slightly short but the heeled boots she often wore made up for it.

Vansilla had grown into a beautiful woman, though she still held her childish nature sometimes. She still held her youth and joy in her heart and eyes. She knew when it was appropriate to let herself be free from the binds of her duties. She knew that she was ready for the role of queen, she had been stressing about it all her life. Now she felt like she could fill the role confidently.

She wasn't the only one who had grown up, Landso and Acheron had grown into two wonderful gentlemen. The two of them were rather different from each other, despite their similar hair colour and eye colour. Landso still wore his reading glasses all the time and he was still much more sophisticated-looking than his brother. Acheron seemed to have taken a thing or two from his human friend. He had grown his hair out quite a bit and he preferred a more casual outfit.

Both of the brothers were wearing rather grand royal blue suits for the coronation. They were the queen-to-be's best friends. Everyone in the fae dimension were wearing their finest attire, most of which were made especially for the occasion. Even Those who were not originally from the dimension were going to be visiting.

Selltresse and Vandkin were not too supportive of the idea, At first. they still did not want to believe that their daughter was old enough to rule the kingdom. Yet, she proved herself time and time again worthy of the throne and the crown. She showed them a different take on royalty . The two parents were highly disapproving of her methods. They watched as Vansilla worked with the servants of the castle, they watched as she trained with the warriors, they watched as she grew things in the fields. They did not like any of this nor did they do any of it whilst they ruled. The results proved to them that this was the right thing to do.

Vansilla was incredibly nervous. She knew what she had to do off by heart, in and out. Yet she was still nervous that she would mess up her lines. Which would be spoken to her beforehand anyway. She just had to repeat them, It felt like the entire world was placed on her shoulders. It was just one simple, five minute ceremony and then she could go back to doing whatever she was supposed to be doing. She had gone through the day's schedule with Landso twice, yet she always managed to forget.

"You will be just fine!" Laylian told her friend comfortingly as she embraced her in a hug. Laylian was wearing a light blue dress. She was accompanied by Kelso. Tyrell and Sylvester were already in the throne room, awaiting the announcement of Vansilla. "You've been working so hard for this for so long, you're not going to mess it up."

"But what if I do?" Vansilla asked fearfully. "What if I trip? What if I say the wrong thing? What if I forget the kingdom's name? What if I forget my own name?" Her voice became more and more high pitched as the questions went on. Laylian chuckled as Selltresse and Vandkin entered the room. They each had polite smiles ont heir faces. They were holding back their excitement. Yet, they still worried about the kingdom and themselves, what would happen now their daughter was ruler.

"For one, the kingdom doesn't have a name." Vandkin chuckled as he strode over to his daughter, cupping her cheek lightly. "Secondly, you will do magnificently." He gave a smile and pulled her in for a hug. He was soon followed by Selltresse, who was holding back a few tears.

"I never thought I would see this day." It was an honest statement and it probably wasn't the kindest given the context. She had thought that she would remain queen until her death. She never thought she would see Vansilla wear the crown."You look so beautiful and so grown up."

Vansilla gave a nervous smile at her parents before she started to hear music. Her expression turned back to one of nerves and of fright. "That's my music!" She squealed worriedly. The others gave her slightly sympathetic but mostly supportive smiles as they were rushed out of her room.

Laylian was quick to take her seat next to Kelso, immediately grabbing her hand and squeezing it lightly. Kelso looked at her with curious eyes full of joy. She still had not yet gotten used to the beauty which is Laylian. Selltresse and Vandkin sat on the opposite side of the room from them. The parents had their own place on the podium where the queen would be crowned.

They all rose to their feet when the doors opened. Vansilla walked down the royal blue carpet with her head held high and a small smile on her face. Her arms were still and neatly positioned by her side. Her posture was grand and her steps showed power.

The actual crowning of the queen was a simple and straightforward process. Vansilla stood before the throne whilst Addafor placed a crown upon her head. The crown was a gorgeous ring of silver which held sapphires and diamonds. "Do you, Vansilla Rayscor, swear oath to protect, rule and lead the fae at all times. Whether they be light or dark?"

"I, Vansilla Rayscor, swear that I will protect, rule and lead the fae at all times, whether they be shrouded in darkness or brightened by light." As she started to talk, the fae started to clap. There were noises of celebration and happiness. Vansilla could feel a smile tugging on her lips as she looked over those who she loved and cared for. As she looked over the ones who she now ruled.

"May the queen's light never fade!" Addafor cheered, the line was repeated over and over again, Vansilla couldn't count the amount of times that it had been repeated. "But first! There is someone who would like to say a few words." Vansilla turned her head in slight confusion. Laylian leaned forward in ehr seat as Landso stood up. She shared a glance with Acheron, yet he was also confused. The rest of the visitors had no clue what was going on either. The room was in a state of confusion.

Landso looked very nervous, he was in front of nearly all the fae in the dimension and even some humans. Everyone was watching him. This moment would live on forever. "Vansilla." He addressed her, she gave a confused smile at her dear friend and nodded, urging him to say what he wanted to. "You are now our queen..." He trailed off slightly , as though he didn't know what he was going to say. Gasps suddenly filled the room as he got down on one knee. "But would you please do me the honour of being my queen?" He had pulled out a small box from his blazer pocket and presented her with a ring.

Vansilla did not reply straight away, she did not give a verbal answer until she had sunk down to her own knee and gave him a tight hug and a kiss. "Yes, yes of course yes!" She said loudly and excitedly. Once again, everybody stood up and clapped. Their queen was engaged.
