Chapter 40

Chapter 40

It had been around a year since things had started to calm down. The royals were slowly gathering their energy back. With each hug and laugh they were getting their powers back. Vanilla had never seen them as happy as they were without the crown on their head. Laidra and Addafor were still in charge of the kingdom, everything was running smoothly for the fae. There had been no riots or rebellions.

The fae's discovery tours to the human dimension had been going rather well. There was the occasional fae who wasn't allowed past the barrier which Neireith created. The barrier was rather effective in not only keeping fae with bad intentions out, but it was also effective in helping them change their ways. In most cases, the fae who were not allowed through had some ulterior motive, the denial of entry to the human dimension of ten called them out on that. It somehow made them want to change their ways, somehow.

Though today was a very special and important day for the royals. They were giving their friends another chance at ruling over the dimension for a little bit. Of course, Vansilla was in charge. Landso was acting as her advisor for the day, which was something he was ecstatic about. Acheron had shrugged slightly when the job was offered to him, he knew it would make his brother much happier if Acheron denied it. Selltresse and Vandkin were acting as supervisors of sorts, still holding not nearly enough power over those who resided in the castle.

Today was the day Kelso, Tyrell, Sylvester and Laylian graduated from school. They were all very excited and anxious. It was the middle of summer and they had to wake up incredibly early. Kelso didn't mind much as she was an early bird. She had ran out of creative ways to wake up her twin so a simple shove off the bed was good enough.

"Wakey wakey!" She said with a grin as Tyrell groaned. He had hit his head off his bedside table and it was throbbing slightly. He sat up, his hair looking like a bird's nest as it stuck out in every single direction. "You should really cut that." Kelso chuckled and pointed at the mass of hair.

"Never." His voice was hoarse and sleepy from staying up until early hours of the morning. He reached over and grabbed a hair tie to get it out of his face for the moment. "Good morning to you too." He stood up and stretched before grabbing his clothes from the bottom of the bed and heading to the bathroom.

"Good morning!" Kelso exclaimed loud enough for him to hear. It was a regular thirty minutes as they got ready to head downstairs. Hazel was already there with a cup of tea in her hands and breakfast on different seats, ready for the twins to enjoy.

"Good morning you two." Hazel said excitedly, She tried to hold back her excitement and pride. She was going to accompany the twins to get their results. She knew it wasn't normal for people to bring their parents or guardians to receive their GCSE results. It was something that she didn't have the chance to do with Lorraine, who went with her friends instead. She wanted to see the looks of happiness which crossed her grandchildren's faces when they got the results they worked so hard for.

"Good morning Nanna." The twins said at the same time as they took their seats. Tyrell was clearly struggling to keep his eyes open as he ate his toast. Kelso was jittery and fidgeting with anything which she could get her hands on. Kelso bounced her knee up and down with a steady beat and Hazel chuckled.

"There's no need to be nervous dear." Hazel said with a smile, placing her cup down and setting her arm on the side of the chair. "I am sure that you have done extremely well." Kelso was extremely anxious about her results. She didn't have a good week when it came to sitting her exams. She got her timetable all back to front and up to down. If it wasn't for Tyrell she would've been rather stuck.

Kelso gave her nanna a thankful smile, but the words did not do much to calm her nerves. She nearly resorted to biting her nails when she didn't realize she had eaten the piece of toast in her hand. Once the three of them were ready, they headed out of the door. The twins were eager to get their results and to lose the stress they had been feeling for the past two months. The two of them almost sprinted to the fae house.

They had all decided to get their results together, it was an unconscious agreement they had all come to. As soon as Sylvester saw them approaching he ran out of the door. He had a big smile on his face and he was jumping up and down eagerly. "Hello!" He said excitedly. He gave the three a hug each before stepping back and holding onto Tyrell's hand. "Lets get this over with!" His words did not match his tone at all, this caused Tyrell to laugh.

"Laylian, I told you not to give him coffee!" Laylian walked out of the house calmly, with a travel mug in her hand. She smiled at the four politely and shook her head slightly. She gave Kelso a quick kiss on the cheek and they were once again walking, they were a little slower this time then they had been.

"You shouldn't have shown him how to use the coffee machine." Laylian smirked and raised the cup to her lips and took a sip. Sylvester pointed at her and nodded his head rapidly. "He's going to regret that very soon." They had reached the school gates rather quickly. They only lived around the corner from the place, it was something useful most of the time but they could see it becoming annoying in two years' time. That will be when they no longer have to travel there each day.

Before they could get through the gates, they heard something. "Laylian!" The five of them turned around in confusion. Eyes widened at the sight of two people running towards them. It was Laidra and Addafor. They were jogging slightly to try and catch up with them. Laidra wore a pretty summer dress and Addafor wore jeans with a T-shirt. "I'm so glad we caught you!"

"Mother, Father." Laylian moved forward and gave the two a hug. "What are you doing here?" she asked as she pulled back from them. The rest of the group shared polite waves with them. The two older fae still did not know the others too well. They were rather busy at the moment and couldn't really get to know the others. Even though they had quite a few plans for the future.

"Well we did a little bit of research." Laidra smiled, she was slightly happy with herself that she was able to do the research. She had made it a slight goal of hers, to get to know everything that she could about the dimension her daughter lived in. "and I found out that these results are really important. I also found out the kind of things that they tested. Honestly, I think a lot of this stuff could be useful."

Somehow, Laylian got rather nervous due to this fact. She was a little anxious about her results, but now she was even more nervous. She didn't want to disappoint her parents. Kelso reached out and grabbed her hand once more. "Let's go!" They started to walk quicker towards the school.

It was extremely easy to find the place where they were supposed to go. It was the middle of the holidays so there was only the year 11's there. In the middle of the entryway was a rather large table with volunteers and teachers stationed, ready to hand out the results. Hazel, Laidra and Addafor stood back a few moments and watched the children approach the appropriate tables. Each returning with a large brown envelope.

"And the horror begins." Tyrell shakily mumbled as he quickly opened the envelope. His eyes immediately went to the left where he saw a row of letters. He ripped the bandage off and turns out, he did pretty well. "Not bad." He breathed. This gave the others more courage to open their own envelopes.

"Yes!" Laylian exclaimed and jumped up and down excitedly. "I got an A* in Business studies!" Her excitement put smiles on her parent's faces. Even though they had done some research, they weren't quite sure what these subjects talked about. They didn't know that Laylian took business studies. The joy that their daughter emitted was enough for them.

"That's brilliant!" Kelso grinned back as she hesitantly opened her results, her smile shrunk slightly and she sighed. "Not too bad...I got what I wanted at least." She tried to be positive, she didn't fail any subjects. She just didn't do exceptionally well in any.

"Hey you got nearly the same amount as me!" Tyrell huffed and crossed his arms playfully, he had hoped that he would get better grades then Kelso. "Twin troubles." He whispered in an attempt to make her smile wider. He managed to succeed in his goals as she laughed at their old joke. "What did you get, silver fox?"

Sylvester felt slightly pressured as he opened the envelope shakily. Tyrell was close to him. He was ready to hug Sylvester, whether it be in celebration or comfort. Tyrell was quicker at reading then Sylvester was and before Sylvester knew what was happening, he was engulfed in a hug. "I'm so proud of you!" The two of them were getting strange looks from the group but the reason for joy was quickly explained.

"Thank you." Sylvester said with bright red cheeks and a genuine, proud smile on his face. "I got three A*'s." He shrugged it off as though it was nothing. Though Hazel was convinced that his grin was hurting his face. Laylian was next to give him a hug, she couldn't believe how far he had come. She always knew he would achieve something great.

"I'm so proud of you all." Hazel exclaimed as she watched carefully. She treasured the looks of pure joy which twinkled in their eyes, perhaps some did not get what they expected. It was the fact that they got what they needed and their positivity that mattered. "All of you." She put emphasis on the word 'all', she wanted the fae to know that she was proud of them as well. They had learnt so much in such a short amount of time.

"We are too." Addafor said with a rather rough voice. He had his arm around Laidra, who was holding back tears. She didn't know that she needed to experience this until right then. "You have all come very far the past year, you have each learned so much. You should all be proud"

"I'm going to miss this." Tyrell said with less enthusiasm, looking around the entryway of the school. They will be coming back soon. It wouldn't be the same as it was now. It would be more pressure and they would be older. They would have more responsibilities and challenges.

"I bet you will." Hazel said determinedly, she had sat down in order to save her back some pain. "Though this just means that there's another adventure to come."
