I need answers Chapter two

Daiki was pacing back and forth in the living room. Once in a while his eyes would sneak a peak at the girl laying on the couch but quickly he would focus back on his pace. It was beginning to grow morning but the storm was still occurring outside. Daiki's Father was sitting in the arm chair watching him pace back and forth but he remained silent. He didn't even question him for being outside so late at night in the rain without any shoes on but Daiki didn't care because it benefitted him in a way. It just meant less to deal with.

Who was this girl and how did she end up wounded in the middle of the woods?

His finger was pressed against his lips as he began to think hard. Daiki knew it had something to do with her parents and his gut told him something bad had happened. He bet she was running from something but what exactly was she running from?

Slowly, he inhaled deeply and abruptly stopped in the middle of the living room. His back was facing his Father who still didn't speak nor move from his position in the arm chair. The living room was uncomfortably silent besides the girls breathing.

"Aren't you going to say something, Father?" Daiki broke the silence but remained still.

He could hear his father finally shifting in the arm chair, "What would you like me to say?"

He took his finger away from his lip so he could cross his arms in the front of his chest, "I don't know...anything. Why aren't you questioning me about my whereabouts?" The fact that his Father hadn't said anything about this somehow bothered him.

"Alright, why were you out in the woods so late?" Father said casually.

"You know that's not what I meant..."

His Father sighed and got up from the old chair, "I know it's not what you meant but I already know why you're always in the woods. You're drawn to it aren't you?"

Daiki's eyes closed in frustration but he quickly tossed that feeling aside knowing there would be no use if he snapped, "You don't know why I always go to the woods." He turned to face his father, "You know I see things out there? Inhuman things and I don't know what they are or if they're dangerous because you never want to talk about them."

"It was probably just an anima-"

"You and I both know that I don't see animals, Father." Daiki interrupted him with a growl, "I see things that look like they could come out of nightmares."

Father was now right behind him and his hand was placed on Daiki's shoulder, "Why don't you get some sleep."

Daiki let out a small laugh already knowing his father would try to ignore this topic. He always has and he always will. But maybe this girl will know something...

"I'll sleep down here so I know she will be safe." Daiki told his Father.

Father took his hand from Daiki's shoulder, "We will talk more after you wake up."

Daiki didn't answer him. His Father took the hint and left back to his room that was down the hall but Daiki remained in place, internally conflicted. He looked back to the girl on the couch and noticed the scratches on her cheeks, her frailness, and how her clothes were shredded.

Daiki lifted his hand and ran it through his hair. For Pete Sakes, he was only nineteen and he is still treated like a small child. A huff escaped his lips and he started upstairs. He knew it wouldn't be appropriate for a young lady to be laying in rags within a house of men. He wanted her to be at least a tad bit comfortable when she woke up. He remembered the large gash in her side that he immediately bandaged when he set her on the couch. His teeth gritted as he wondered what kind of creature had done that to her.

He rummaged through his dresser drawer and managed to pull out one of his t-shirts and some pajama pants that could tie with strings. He knew they would be too big for her but he couldn't think of anything else for her to wear. Besides, clean and oversized clothes is better than nothing.

He went back downstairs and into the living room. He looked back over to her and saw that she was right where he had left her. Carefully, he sat the clothes on the floor next to the couch and he hoped that she would put them on because she was also coated in mud. Maybe when she woke he could help her wash up. Daiki knew that she might take it the wrong way but he wasn't meaning any harm. He only wanted to help considering she mustn't move much with her wound.

Daiki let out a groan, "Why did this have to happen to me.."

The rain pattered on the roof and it could be heard in the living room. Kouhei was asleep in bed and that helped with some of the stress Daiki was now feeling. He still wasn't sure what would potentially happen once this girl wakes up but he could hope that it'll turn out fine the end. Maybe he can get some answers about what he saw...what he was trying to find.

But as of now he should probably try to get some sleep. It wouldn't do him any good to stay up any longer and wait for her to wake up because with a lack of sleep he was a grump and typically snappy as well. It wouldn't do anyone any good.

Daiki plopped down on the arm chair his father sat on earlier and he leaned back to try to get comfortable. He closed his eyes and did his best to relax even with the stress eating him up.

He was determined to get answers...

And he was hoping to get them...

With that in mind he finally fell into a black dream of nothing.
