Okano

"Tomura, come by Jin's hideout!" Whatever was going on, Himiko sounded a little too excited about it.

He stared at the wall, y/n's arm was still wrapped around his torso, and her forehead pressed against his back. His free hand fumbled with a set of handcuffs. One end was tightly locked, the other end was broken. Light clicks sounded as he slowly pushed one cuff closed. He lifted it slightly, and it opened.

Tomura continued to fidget with the handcuffs as he spoke in a low, throaty whisper. "No, I'm busy."

The girl on the other end of the line giggled. "Spinner got hurt, though."

The blue-haired villain hung up on Himiko. He placed the phone onto the bed off to the side and the handcuffs inside his pillow case. He felt y/n's breath against his skin momentarily before forcing himself out of bed. His shirt was lying on the floor next to his bedside. He reached down and got dressed in a hooded coat and facemask to keep his identity hidden.

The bed shifted. "Good morning," y/n said. Tomura could feel her eyes on him.

Tomura refused to turn around and look her in the eye. He got up from the bed. "Something happened to Spinner, I'm leaving."

The bed creaked as y/n got out of the bed. "I'm coming too! Just give me a second."

Tomura stepped outside of the room. He crossed his arms and impatiently paced around as he waited for y/n to get ready. The doorknob turned, y/n passed through the doorframe, tiny infant in tow. His gaze shifted down to the baby swaddled in a blanket.

Y/n and the blue-haired villain walked side by side. Neither talked to each other for a large portion of the walk. Occasionally, he'd look down at the baby. Tomoru was wide awake, y/n supplied him a pacifier, and it seemed to keep him occupied. The baby's eerily familiar ruby eyes were locked on Tomura.

Finally, y/n broke the silence. "Do you know what happened to Spinner? I really hope he's not hurt too bad and will bounce back."

Tomura's gaze lifted from the baby to y/n. He didn't have the answers to her questions, so he stayed quiet.

Y/n, for the most part, took the lead. For the safety for each individual member of The League, everyone aside from him and y/n moved frequently. They only stayed in one place for a day or two at most. Tomura had no idea where Twice was staying, fortunately for him, y/n had just visited the previous day.

Y/n took Tomura to an old motel. They went up to the second floor and walked down a hallway. The floorboards creaked with each step. Y/n stopped at the door and knocked. She looked up at Tomura, giving him a weak smile, she looked distressed.

Twice opened the door and motioned the couple to come inside. Dabi was standing in the corner, looking on. Himiko sat on the floor, resting her head on her knees. Spinner was lying on the couch. Distressed and pained yelps and gasps came from his direction as Compress patched him up. He had a deep gash along his chest. His head was bandaged up.

Spinner's breathing was labored, a slight wheeze accompanied it. The reptile-like villain was struggling to breathe, but he forced himself to tell the story he had to say.

Apparently, Spinner was going out to the closest convenience store to grab breakfast. An unhealthily thin, sickly man snuck up with him and attacked. Fortunately, Spinner was able to hold his own and escape.

The reptile-like villain coughed like he was trying to hack something up. He whined, a shaky hand hovering over the cut on his chest. Compress urged Spinner to stop talking and rest. Stubborn, the reptile-like villain forced one last detail out. "Okano. When he got the jump on me, I heard him mutter that name."

Everyone glanced over each other. Mostly everyone agreed that the name didn't sound familiar at all. They wondered if it was a case of mistaken identity, and Spinner just so happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tomura noticed y/n was unusually silent. He knew her as someone who didn't actively jump into a conversation; however, she hadn't said a word. The blue-haired villain glanced over to her. She had her eyes fixated on the baby, completely lost in thought.

The other villains in the room were trying to see if they could get more information on the person that attacked Spinner out of him. Talking was clearly a struggle for the pink-haired villain, but he complied. Tomura faintly heard y/n mutter to herself.

"Okano," she whispered; "where have I heard that name before?" While the other villains spoke with Spinner, Tomura's focus was fixed entirely on y/n.

Wide-eyed, y/n's gaze shot up to all the other villains. "I know where I've heard that name before!" Upset by the sudden noise, Tomoru began to whine and fuss in her arms. She cuddled him and silently apologized to the baby.

"Okano— The Nomu Project! That day Spinner had to come with me, one of the men, his family name was Okano. The leader, I think." Everyone, including Tomura, went silent. Suddenly it was clear that this was a calculated attack. Now, the question shifted. Were they going after The League of Villains as a whole? Or, perhaps, they were attacking those who directly contacted them, meaning Spinner and y/n? Either way, thanks to y/n, they had a starting point.

The air in the room was a bit lighter now. Spinner's wounds were not life-threatening, everyone expected him to bounce back after a bit of rest. Compress praised y/n's exceptional memory to remember a name she hadn't heard in years. Y/n mentioned that she remembered that day vividly. It was a notable achievement for the Nomu Project. Twenty-one villains in one night.

Tomura found himself getting irritated. Why are they already celebrating? Spinner and y/n could be singled out.

Dabi began to head towards the door. "Where are you going?" Compress asked.

His icy blue gaze turned towards the others in the room. "We know what happened. There's no reason to be here anymore." Before anyone could argue with him, Dabi left the room.

The room filled with the remaining voices. Y/n looked over to Tomura, she spoke in a low tone that only Tomura could hear. "Should I go see if Giran has any information on Okano?" She had a light-hearted smile on her face. Y/n was already stepping away from Tomura. The blue-haired villain's heart began to race. Like a snake grabbing its prey, he grabbed onto her shoulder. Three of his five fingers dug into her skin.

She flinched. "Ow, that hurts." Tomura loosened his grip. Despite this, he kept his hand on y/n's shoulder.

"You're not going anywhere," he growled. The light chatter that filled the room immediately stopped. Everyone, aside from the injured Spinner, had their eyes on Tomura.

Himiko rose to her feet, trying to step in between Tomura and y/n. "What's going on here?"

Twice, following Himiko's lead as he usually does, agreed with her. "Now isn't the time for you two to start bickering."

He shot a vicious glare at the two villains, they weren't going to paint this as anything it wasn't. Y/n spoke up before he could yell at the pair. "Please, it's alright. Tomura is right, we probably shouldn't make a move until we have a solid plan."

The two villains looked at y/n. They then looked at each other for a moment. In that split second, y/n gave Tomura a kind and gentle smile. The remaining villains began to talk about what to do. Compress suggested that it might not be safe if they're someone that might be seeking revenge for The Nomu Project. Finally, they're starting to get it.

Tomura looked to y/n. Her hold on Tomoru tightened a bit, and she had a worried expression on her face. He knew y/n had to be concerned about the baby's safety.

"Maybe we should stick close together?" Compress suggested. "We don't know our enemy, it would be safer if we are one as a group."

Tomura reached out for y/n's shoulder and nudged her towards the door. "We are going to hire Giran to compile information." Y/n glanced up at him as if to say that he stole her idea.

"Why are you taking y/n with you? Can't you take care of yourself?" Himiko asked. She let out a playful giggle as if she was mocking him.

"Y/n is close to that old man. I'm sure he'd be willing to do the work for free if I throw her and the boy at him." In the corner of his eye, he saw y/n flinch.

"Tomura!" Himiko yelled. Tomura didn't bother stopping to listen to her lecture him. He swung the door open and dragged y/n out of the motel room.

The route Tomura took to Giran's office was convoluted for his own safety. He placed y/n in front of him when they reached the door. As soon as Giran opened the door, his attention was immediately hooked to y/n and Tomoru.

Giran sat down at his desk, y/n did the same over in the chair across from him, Tomura stood off to the side. The blue-haired villain explained everything to Giran. Tomura slightly adjusted his narrative, he heavily stressed that whoever attacked Spinner may go after y/n next. Tomura noticed y/n shifted in her seat. This is for her own good.

Giran leaned back in his chair. He placed an unlit cigarette between his lips and lightly chewed on it. After a moment, he rose to his feet and walked to one of the many filing cabinets. He returned with an envelope. Giran mumbled to himself as he dialed a number.

"Hey, buddy," Giran paused; "I'm good, yeah. Hey, I hate to bother ya with another favor, but this one is important too. I think I'm gonna cash out on it now." Once again, Giran stopped talking.

"I got some clients asking for information on someone. The name is Okano. Maybe there's a group with someone with a leader that shares a name with that?" Giran stopped and listened. He grinned. "Thanks, bud. Shots are on me next time."

The older villain placed down his phone. "That's the best I can do for now. He's good at his job. Give him a few days, and I'm sure he will find something soon."

Giran's eyes moved over to Tomura, and he motioned his head towards y/n and the baby. "You keep y/n and Tomoru safe until you all figure out what's going on."

"Thank you for the concern, but–" Y/n was suddenly cut off.

"I know that! I'm not stupid!" Tomura spat. Giran glared at the blue-haired villain, and Tomura glared right back.

"I think I'll be–" Y/n tried to speak, but the two villains in the room continued to talk over her.

Y/n got up from her seat and left the office. Giran motioned his head towards the door. "It's barely been a few minutes, and she has already left your sight."

Tomura was done with the conversation. "Whatever," he grumbled. The villain left the room, making sure to slam it extra loud on his way out.

He saw y/n sitting at the other end of the hall next to the exit. She had her legs pulled close to her, Tomoru had his back pushed against her thighs. Y/n played with the baby's little hands.

Tomura opened the door. He paused and stood still for a moment. He waited, the warm midday breeze blowing in front of him contrasted with the hallways cold air. Tomura could hear y/n standing up.

Giran's words repeated in Tomura's head. It's his job to protect both y/n and Tomoru. He kept his head forward, but his eyes drifted down to the baby. The worst-case scenario is that Spinner and y/n are their only targets.

If that were true, undoubtedly, y/n would be the next person they'd attack. Tomura was confident he could keep y/n safe; he's done it before in more dangerous settings. Tomoru, however. He tried guessing how upset y/n would be if he couldn't protect him.

A lot, probably, Tomura guessed. It was clear she loved the baby more than her own life. Tomura didn't understand that. The infant wasn't that great. He has been watching y/n take care of him from afar, and all he's seen him do is cry, sleep, and stare off into space.

Tomura questioned why he was overthinking this. It's obvious why she loved him so much, just like the Nomu, y/n just loves dumb things.

The air between them was silent. Whenever Tomura looked over at y/n, she was hugging onto the baby with an emotionless look in her eyes. Finally, she spoke up. "Maybe we should stay with everyone else? There's safety in numbers, after all."

Tomura refused to retreat to the others. "Or it groups all of us together for one big fight that we aren't prepared for."

Y/n was silent, her fingers ran through Tomoru's hair. "If they attacked Spinner, then they know generally where mostly everyone is. I made sure to base myself far enough away from everyone."

Y/n silently agreed that Tomura had a point. Regardless of her words, her voice didn't sound convinced.

As soon as they made it to the little shack, y/n excused herself and walked straight to the bedroom. Tomura leaned against the closed door and listened.

"Let's change into something else, okay?" Tomura sat down on the floor and rested the side of his head against the door.

Y/n read a story to the baby, he felt his eyes growing heavy as he listened in.

Tomura opened his eyes. He was still sitting on the floor in the same scrunched up position. His bones ached, and his whole body felt stiff. He arched his back as he stretched. A line of cracks went down his spine. A weight fell off his shoulders.

Tomura paused, his shoulders felt unusually lighter. Strange. The sun had set, and the shack was dark. He glanced down towards the floor, narrowing his eyes as his vision adjusted to the darkness. A blanket.

He picked up the blanket between his thumb and index finger. Tomura forced himself to his feet. Allowing it to drag along the floor, he entered the bedroom.

Light shining through the open window lit up the room. Tomura tossed the blanket haphazardly onto the bed. Y/n was fast asleep under a thin sheet.

He walked up to the crib and knelt next to the bars. The baby was awake. He held onto the edge of his blanket. It slipped from his fingers, and he tried again. Every so often, Tomoru will kick his legs.

Tomura rested his head in his hand as he tried to figure out what was so interesting about him. The baby stopped what he was doing and stared at him. Tomura stared back. Both pairs of ruby eyes locked on each other.

Tomura stood up. He reluctantly reached into the crib, all but one finger tucked into his palm. Tomoru's tiny hands wrapped around Tomura's index finger.

Tomura's body stiffened as he watched the infant. He felt the baby's tiny grip move around as if he was inspecting his finger. Tomura pulled away from Tomoru, just far enough that he wasn't holding on to him anymore.

Tomura lightly pressed his finger against Tomoru's stomach. His black onesie was soft. A second finger was carefully placed on his little belly. The baby smiled, his face brightened up as he kicked at the air. He held onto the sides of his hands. Tomura stared at Tomoru.

Days passed slowly. Spinner had made a recovery, and no other members had been attacked since that day. Further adding to his suspicion that The League as a whole wasn't their target.

Tomura impatiently waited for Giran's call. Whenever the blue-haired villain mentioned asking him what was going on or to demand rushing his source, y/n would counter his impatience. "Please wait a bit longer," she would say; "I'm sure we will hear something soon."

Tomura allowed y/n to do as she wished. Most days, she stayed home. Y/n occupied all of her time playing with Tomoru.

Other days, Tomura followed y/n around without her knowing, convinced she was in danger. She'd take Tomoru out on strolls. Much to his annoyance, her new recruit would sometimes join her. He seemed like a troublemaker.

The phone rang one morning. Tomura awoke to y/n sleeping on his shoulder, her hand placed on his chest. The blue-haired villain reached for his phone, trying to not disturb y/n.

He picked up the phone and silently grunted. "Good mornin' to you too," Giran mumbled. Tomura bit his tongue, refraining from snapping at the older villain. Giran continued talking. "My source found a guy."
