Family

"Here, a small baby shower gift for you." Mr. Goda placed a small box on the counter. Before y/n had a chance to look over to the elderly man to properly thank him, he was gone. Mr. Goda returned with a bottle and a dark rag. "Hurry up and dig into it. I want to polish the counter."

Y/n nodded and tore the pulled the pastel wrapper off the box. She took a peek inside. A baby monitor. "Oh, I'm sure I was going to need one of these. Thank you."

"You will." Mr. Goda's voice was very matter of fact. Y/n tilted her head and asked him to elaborate, and he pointed towards the stairs leading upstairs. "You can leave them in the room up there while you're on duty. When they cry, you can go up and take care of them."

Y/n was thankful she won't need to stress about working at the bar after the twins are born. Now, she needed to figure out how she would continue her search for The League with a pair of babies on tow.

Part of y/n wanted to ask if Mr. Goda could babysit the twins for one day. However, the mother in y/n didn't want to leave them with him. That annoying part of y/n didn't want the twins to ever leave her sight.

Her throat stung. Y/n was suddenly reminded to ask Mr. Goda a question that has been bugging her since her trip to the slums.

"Have you ever heard about a drug called Onyx?" Y/n's legs slightly swung. Her throat has been faintly burning since she woke up this afternoon, and she didn't know what to make of it.

Mr. Goda paused. He glanced up at y/n from his bar counter. "Yeah, I've heard a bit about it. I don't know much about it, though." He returned to polishing the front counter.

"Do you know if it usually burns?" Her fingers lightly ran over her throat, where the syringe punctured her skin. "Just asking for a friend."

After y/n had gotten back from her adventure out in Ogura's outskirts, she made herself, or rather the beans, something to eat. Y/n found herself extremely exhausted from walking around. She went to bed as soon as she finished eating.

The man who had attempted to inject y/n said it was a hallucinogenic drug. As far as she was concerned, she was entirely coherent throughout the day. If it wasn't for the sore throat and the exhaustion she woke up with, y/n wouldn't have given the drug a second thought.

On the one hand, y/n considered that she could be overthinking. She was feeling pains all over her body. She hadn't felt this sore since Himiko had taught her how to knife fight. Tiredness and aching pains came with pregnancy. On top of that, a sore throat is usually nothing.

On the other hand, y/n had a hard time shaking off a dreaded feeling that something was horribly wrong. Even if y/n didn't get infected with anything, that man still stabbed her in the neck with his disgusting needle.

"Burn?" He tapped the bar as he thought about it. "Not sure. I don't think I know anyone who has ever taken Onyx. It's a new drug. Pretty hard to get your hands on, if I'm not mistaken. If I were you, I'd advise your friend to steer clear of it." The broker in the slums said something similar. He refused to sell it because it was a new drug. Something about being uninformed about the long term side effects.

"Oh, they're never going to touch it again. They were curious, so I figured you might have some information." Mr. Goda's answer didn't make y/n feel any better. She was beginning to doubt whether or not a small bit of the black substance made it into her system. Y/n shook off the feeling.

Mr. Goda stared at me. He hummed as he stroked his beard. "Yessir?" y/n asked.

"You just seem pale. Are you feeling alright? If you're unwell, you can just go home. I'll be fine all by myself." Mr. Goda unintentionally made y/n worry again. Y/n promised that she was feeling okay. The last thing y/n wanted was to be sent home and left alone with her thoughts.

The bar was about to open, now wasn't the time to think about such things.

"Bar girl, come here!" Y/n grimaced as soon as she heard Hironaka's voice behind her. She was thankful that Mr. Goda allowed her to wear the fabric face mask to protect the beans from the thick cigarette smoke that poisoned the bar's air. Y/n talked with a playful, happy tone when she spoke to the patrons. However, behind her mask hid a frown that was ever-growing.

Y/n turned around to face Hironaka., who was sitting in his usual spot in front of the bar. He motioned with his hand for y/n to come over. She groaned as she began to walk up to him. "What can I do for you, Hiro?" Y/n pulled out her notepad and pen. She tapped the pen's tip against the paper. A puddle of ink began to soak through to the other side.

"Oh, I was just noticing how much you've grown. How far along are you?" Y/n noticed his eyes drift down to her baby bump.

"Five months." She tried to ignore him and kept her eyes on the notepad.

"Really? It seems like you should be a month or two more." Y/n wanted to ask how he Cotillard possibly know. However, for the sake of maintaining her professionalism, y/n held her tongue.

"There are two of them in there." Y/n tried to sound light-hearted about it.

Hironaka's face lit up a bit. "Oh, yeah! I did hear you were having twins. A set of boys or a pair of girls?" He leaned up against the bar., looking y/n in the face.

"Neither. One of each." Y/n followed through on a second appointment and got her confirmation that she was for sure having a baby boy and girl. On top of that, y/n had a date to look forward to. She will have two perfect little angels by the time spring rolls around.

"And you're all alone? No offense, but does old man Goda even pay you enough to take care of two?" Hironaka smirked. Y/n could feel Mr. Goda's sharp gaze in her direction.

Y/n tried to explain to Hironaka that she got paid enough to get by. He cut her off. "You know, those two are going to need a father figure in their lives." He paused and chuckled to himself. Y/n narrowed her eyes, suddenly realizing how punchable his face was. She didn't even want to think about what he was suggesting.

Removing Tomura from the equation entirely as if she had never met him. Not only did Hironaka look like a sleazy smuggler; after working for Giran, she knew just by listening to him talk that he was, in fact, a sleazy smuggler. Y/n also couldn't get over how much she wanted to punch his face.

"Not to brag," he began. Y/n rolled her eyes. She knew his self-centered attitude well enough to know he was about to start bragging about something. "I make quite a pretty penny. Much more than enough to give those two kids the lives they deserve. The top schools throughout their childhood. The best daycare. Even the best colleges if they'd want to pursue a career."

He smiled at y/n. "Sounds like a solid plan, doesn't it?"

She wondered how much Hironaka had to drink. Y/n didn't typically pay him any attention when he stopped by. She wasn't oblivious to him, though. In the corner of her eye, she noticed him staring at her. Y/n crossed her arms and leaned against the bar. "They have a father, but thank you."

Hironaka recoiled a bit and sat up straight. "Oh, really? They do?" He didn't sound convinced. "How come I never see him? This is a dangerous city. If I were him, I wouldn't let you walk yourself to the bar."

"Of course. It takes two to have a baby, after all." Y/n was done with this conversation. "Besides, I can take care of myself."

So far, since she's been in Ogura, y/n had met two brokers. Both of them have had the most detestable personalities she had ever had the displeasure of meeting. Y/n was confident that she could do their jobs better, while also blindfolded while also staying modest.

"If you're not going to order anything, leave Atsuko alone." Mr. Goda called out from behind the bar. Y/n was so thankful to have found her saving grace. Hironaka immediately closed his mouth and looked away.

Y/n didn't hesitate to walk away and clean a table on the other side of the bar. As she passed by, y/n pulled down her mask and mouthed thank you to Mr. Goda. He gave her a nod. Then returned to pouring a bottle of alcohol for the man sitting in front of him.

As the night went on, the irritation in her throat subsided. She felt ridiculous for worrying and stressing herself over nothing.

Being pregnant wasn't as easy as she thought it would be. Y/n never thought it wasn't going to be difficult, but she didn't know how much of a challenge it was to go through it all completely alone.

Y/n hated that she was beginning to take more breaks throughout the night. She found it becoming more and more challenging to stay on her feet. She began to wonder if she was a burden on Mr. Goda.

He hired her to help him around the bar. Y/n found herself sitting down to rest her aching back for a large portion of her shift. She's also no longer trusted to carry things around.

With every simple task taken off her to-do list at the bar, y/n began to feel more and more useless.

After work, she was coming home more and more exhausted as the weeks passed. Sometimes, it was a fight to stay awake long enough to microwave her dinner and eat.

Holidays were passing by. Y/n never realized how lonely they were without anyone. Tomura and Kurogiri didn't celebrate, most of the time, due to Tomura's sour attitude about social gatherings. Even so, she still had people physically with her.

Technically, y/n knew she had her twins with her. It just wasn't the same. Not until she's able to hold them in her arms. To feel the warmth of their skin. Until then, holidays felt bitter and joyless.

The marks on the map grew with each passing week. The pink circles slowly came to a stop. Which upset y/n significantly. The black Dabi marks became more frequent. That was a bit of good news. More reports about burned bodies have been popping up all over the place. Y/n had been keeping a close eye. Silently waiting for a pattern to Dabi's attacks.

Her plan for Dabi was simple. All she had to do was predict a pattern, and try to meet up with him. Y/n needed to make sure she was going to find him if she was going to search for her patchwork comrade. The more time passed, the more the twins were becoming a burden on her mobility. Y/n couldn't afford to drop everything to try to traverse halfway through the country. Not in her current state.

Her hope wavered as her blue marker was still left unused. It has passed the half-year mark since Tartarus. There's no way Tomura didn't make it out, right?

She felt empty in the pit of her stomach. It was getting harder and harder to remind herself that everything was going to be okay. That she and Tomura were going to be a family soon.

Y/n crossed off another day on her calendar. She flipped through the pages until she reached her due date. "Just gotta survive this season."

Y/n could see frost conquering the window from behind her blinds. The first snowflakes of the winter haven't fallen from the sky. Her motel room was much colder. The blanket supplied was almost useless.

She sat down next to the half-constructed crib beside her. The f/a and unicorn plushies were sitting inside. Her growing collection of baby clothes were neatly folded up beside the two toys in three piles. One for Tomoru, one for Tomoko, and one that the two could share. Y/n picked up one of the little outfits. She looked down at it, feeling the fabric under her fingertips.

An overwhelming dread sunk in. "I still don't know what I'm doing." Even though she was alone, y/n was trying to hide the fear in her voice.

She took a breath in. Y/n heard her breath shake, and she choked out a whimper. Her hands bunched up the little outfit, and she held it close to her.

Y/n paused. She listened to the nothingness that surrounded her. "Okay. I'm alright. I'm going to be okay." Y/n didn't know who she was trying to fool.

She breathed out and wiped her eyes. A trail of wetness smeared along her cheeks. Y/n didn't talk for a long time. Her eyes darted around the torn up motel room with baby stuff everywhere.

"Have I told you two about the family?" She paused and thought about it. "Actually, I don't think I have." Y/n folded the little outfit and placed it back on top of the middle pile.

Y/n forced herself out of the chair and sat down on her bed. "I think this will be a good replacement for tonight's bedtime story."

She shifted in bed, trying to find a comfortable position. Trying to get comfortable in bed had nearly tired her out. Once she settled in bed, y/n cleared her throat. "First thing's first, we have daddy. He..." Y/n paused and thought about how to best describe Tomura.

"It takes a bit to get used to him. Sometimes, it feels like he doesn't care. He does, though. Daddy has a hard time showing love. Don't worry, it gets easier, and before you know it, you'll realize daddy cares a lot."  Y/n paused and thought about what else to say about Tomura.

"He has gorgeous blue hair. Maybe one of you two will get it. That'll be nice. He also has red eyes. Something tells me both of you will have that." Y/n hummed as she wondered if she should move onto someone else.

"Well, both of you are named after him. So. I'm going to have a Tomura, a Tomoko, and a Tomoru. I'm sure that won't be confusing." Y/n had a light-hearted tone in her voice.

She hummed. "Maybe Giran next? Giran is a lot sweeter than he tries to let on. Catch him when he's not working. I think you will both like him. And don't worry, I won't let him spoil you two rotten."

She paused. A soft giggle escaped her lips before her lonely smile returned. "I won't let Giran pick out clothes for you either. Trust me, you two will thank me when you're older."

"I suppose we should talk about Kurogiri." Y/n paused for a lot longer than she'd like. She was having a harder time trying to describe Kurogiri. He can be friendly, he was so polite when she first met him. Without realizing it, y/n had used up all of his patience. It didn't help when she and Tomura got more intimate. Y/n knew Kurogiri was protective of Tomura, but she didn't realize just how protective he would be.

"Both of you are half Tomura. I'm sure he will adore you two." Y/n was completely positive about that one. Kurogiri was incapable of hating anything Tomura makes. Children included.

"Spinner, well, I don't know anything about him, really. That's alright, we can learn about him together." She stopped and reconsidered. "Or we won't. Either is fine, really."

She moved onto the next villain. "Dabi. I don't like Dabi all that much. He's kinda intimidating. Though, something makes me think he might be good with kids."

"Himiko is cute. She will definitely treat you two like her little siblings." A genuine smile crossed her lips. "She's not allowed to babysit alone. But I think you two will have fun with her."

"Jin. You two will like Jin. I don't know if he likes kids, but I would trust him with both of you." Her thought was interrupted by the butterfly sensation. Y/n lightly placed a hand on her skin and felt for potential kicks. Nothing.

Y/n snapped out of it as soon as the sensation faded away. "Where was I?"

"Oh, yes. Jin. He's funny. Though, I personally worry about his little... extra voice. It might be a bit too verbal for both of you." The more y/n thought about it, the less she thought Twice would make a suitable babysitter for her two previous twins.

"Mister..." y/n's voice faltered. She cocked her head to the side and thought about it. "For some reason, I don't think he likes kids. It's just a feeling he gives off. I'm not exactly sure why."

Y/n fumbled with the blanket in her hands. "I'm sure he will like you two." Y/n spoke in a quiet tone. She immediately realized that she had indirectly introduced everyone that mattered to her unborn twins.

"I just hope we see them soon," y/n whispered. Y/n felt tears well up in her eyes. "I really want someone with me when you two are due."

Y/n's eyes drifted to the calendar sitting on top of the map. "Just a little less than four months."

Her thoughts were broken by the sound of the harsh winter wind howling. The window rattled. Y/n felt a cold breeze sneak into her motel room. She pulled the blanket closer to her face as a chill stung her face. "I hope we find them soon."
