Alfred was scared, to say the least, he wasn't ready to meet new people. Neither was his brother who hugged his bear tight as Francis tried to coax him out from the corner he huddled in.
Arthur stroked Alfred's hair holding him in his arms. "It'll be okay I promise." He tried to reassure his frightened son, but Alfred wasn't having it, he shook his head and hugged his father tight. "Please don't make us go..." He whimpered. "Alfred I promise we're not going to leave you. You and Matthew are just going to see someone that will talk to you, son I'm not strong enough..." Arthur sighed. "I need help, we need help." He hugged Alfred tighter. "You need help." He mumbled. "And I can't help you if you don't let me, Alfred you want to see your friend again don't you?" he asked.
Alfred felt an ache in his chest, it hurt so much, thinking about his friend Davie eagerly waiting for him to return and hopefully still not losing hope. "Yes.." Alfred whispered. "I want to see him again." His voice was tight with desperation. Arthur nodded solemnly and kissed the top of his son's head not wanting to make matters worse by trying to explain any further. "Mattie," Alfred quietly called for his brother who in response looked at him with a frightened look. "We'll go together Mattie, I'll protect you if anything goes bad I promise." Alfred pulled on a smile.
Matthew instantly felt at ease knowing that his brother was okay with it, he let out a shaky breath and embraced his papa burying his face in his shirt taking in his comforting scent his bear squeezing against his and Francis's chest. "You have to promise not to leave," Matthew demanded with a trembling voice. "I promise." Francis nodded and rubbed his back, he wished he could do more to comfort his frightened son, but for now, all he could do was hold him. For Matthew, it was enough.
After a moment of the two parents holding and comforting their children the two looked over at the phone that had begun to ring, Matthew tensed at the noise and Alfred clung to his father but after realizing it he almost immediately released his grip. "S-sorry it's a reflex." He mumbled apologetically a light blush coloring his pale cheeks. "It's alright, you don't have to apologize," Arthur reassured and reluctantly released Alfred from the embrace so that he could retrieve the phone, he looked over at Francis who stared at him as he answered the call.
Arthur answered and walked over to the kitchen not wanting to worry his children more, Francis understood immediately and stroked Matthew's hair. "Alfred, what is your friend like?" Francis asked curiously to distract him from his worries. "He's really nice," Alfred responded immediately with a soft smile. "He likes flowers." With that, he softly giggled. "He's really funny too, and tall!" he exclaimed.
Matthew was happy seeing his brother smile, it had been a long time since he had seen that happy smile, and from there he wondered just who exactly was this boy that could make Alfred smile and laugh so easily? At that moment Matthew felt defeated, not even him could make his brother smile like that, he couldn't cheer him up when he was sad or afraid, all he did was hold his hand when they were both there with that horrid man. He wasn't strong enough to protect him.
And as a result Alfred had to be the one to protect Matthew and himself, Matthew felt sick and pressed himself against Francis's chest as if he could squeeze the queasiness out of him. "I'd like to meet him one day." Francis smiled at his smiling son. "Yeah! You should too Mattie I told him a lot about you." At that Matthew perked up. "Huh? H-how come?" he stammered with an embarrassed blush. "Because you're my brother why wouldn't I talk about you? Davie really wanted to meet you." Alfred stated.
Matthew smiled. "I hope I get to meet him too." Despite everything he was still thankful for Davie for keeping his brother happy when he couldn't, Arthur soon returned. "It was Kiku, I honestly couldn't understand half of what he was saying with his accent but he's ready to see the boys." He explained, Francis nodded and hesitantly released Matthew from the embrace he held him in. "We should get you two dressed, it's pretty cold outside." He suggested and took hold of Matthew's small hand. "Right, let's go, Alfred." He called Alfred who seemed to be in deep thought.
He nodded and followed after his brother and papa with Arthur following behind him, the two boys needed help changing in and out of their clothes, their bodies were badly damaged, their limbs bruised, and when they stretched it would greatly pain them up to the point where they were in tears. So it was now Francis and Arthur's job to help change them in a way so that they wouldn't hurt themselves anymore. Francis sat Matthew on his bed and stroked his cheek with the back of his hand. "I promise I'll make it as quick as possible." He whispered to him.
Matthew nodded and lifted his arms as high as he could without feeling any pain, Alfred did the same with Arthur and in a matter of minutes they were both changed into warm clothes and their bandages changed. Francis buttoned up Matthew's jacket and chuckled. "Adorable." He stated and lifted the hood of the jacket over his son's head Matthew smiled. "You're pretty too papa!" he exclaimed happily.
Alfred laughed. "You too dad, I think papa is obsessed with you though." Matthew then laughed. "Yeah daddy, papa is always telling himself how pretty you are." He then frowned giving a puzzled look. "But one time he said you were hot, but when I hugged you, you weren't hot at all!" at that Francis blushed and looked away from a smirking Arthur. Alfred giggled and walked over to his brother taking hold of his hand. "That's something adult say as...a compliment." He explained.
Matthew's mouth flew open. "Oooh! So should I call daddy hot too?" he questioned, both Francis and Arthur quickly shook their heads. "It's something that only adult can say to each other," Arthur stated warily, Matthew gasped and quickly nodded. "Okay, daddy." Both parent's sighed in relief. "We should be going," Arthur suggested and smoothed out his shirt, Francis nodded and took both of his sons' hands.
Outside both Alfred and Matthew dropped their heads shielding their eyes from the sun, Arthur climbed into the car while Francis helped his children onto their seats making sure they were buckled in. Once Francis was buckled in Arthur took a breath and started the car. "How long will it take?" Alfred asked as Matthew rested his head on his shoulder. "For now half an hour," Arthur responded. "Will you be there with us?" Arthur tended which worried Alfred. "I'll ask." He mumbled.
Alfred took a breath calming his nerves and took Matthew's hand in his own. "...it's okay if you can't, just as long as you stay as close as possible." He said in a soft tone. "Of course." Arthur agreed with another thought. "We were never planning on leaving you, we never will," Francis reassured. "What will the person be like?" Matthew asked.
Arthur smiled. "He's perfect for you two, despite his accent I'm sure he'll be able to help you both." Alfred was immediately intrigued. "What's his name?" he asked curiously. "It's not common here, but I think that's what makes him great. His name is Kiku Honda." Alfred giggled. "Does he make the cars daddy?" Matthew asked. Francis suppressed a laugh while Arthur turned away still keeping his eyes on the road. "Ah..no love, he just has that last name because it's common where he lives," Arthur explained.
Matthew quickly understood and nodded. "I get it now daddy." He stated and quietly hummed to himself, Arthur chuckled and looked over at Francis. "Oh, I nearly forgot, we need to talk about what Matthew said earlier." He said, Francis jumped and felt his face heat up. "Hot huh?" he laughed and took hold of Francis' hand. "I-it was still a compliment," Francis grumbled. "Eh, it's more than what I think about you." Arthur shrugged. "W-what!?" Francis sputtered.
"Dad there are children present!" Alfred whined as he covered his brother's ears. "I'm sorry, my fault." Arthur apologized with a light blush, Alfred huffed and uncovered Matthew's ears. "Daddy and papa are always red whenever you uncover my eyes or ears." He giggled. "It's funny." Alfred smiled, at least things were getting a bit back to normal.
------------------------
The waiting room was awkward and uncomfortable for the small family, the other families stared at Arthur and Francis while the other children stared at Alfred and Matthew taking notice of their bandage covered limbs, the two boys scooted closer to their parents' shying away from the unwanted attention. "Look, mommy," a boy tugged at his mother's arm and pointed at the boys. "Don't be rude sweetie." His mother scolded him.
Matthew hugged his bear tighter against his chest while Francis rubbed his back, Alfred reluctantly walked over to a table full of magazines as he reached out for one a much older boy frowned at his wrapped arm. "What's wrong with you? You know it's not Halloween yet right?" he asked sourly, Alfred pulled his hand away and took a step back. "Ah...uhm." He stammered. "I-I know that." He stuttered. "Then what's wrong with you? Are you sick or something?" the boy just wouldn't leave him alone.
Alfred turned away about to leave until the boy called out to him. "Where are you going? Didn't you come to get a magazine? Here, come and get it." He smiled menacingly, Alfred turned back around and slowly went over to take the magazine, the boy immediately took hold of his wrist and picked at the bandages. "S-stop," Alfred begged in a low tone, he was too scared to yell, the boy ignored him and finally decided to just tear off the cloth. Once he did he looked at the various bruises. "Eww..." the boy groaned and when Alfred tried to pull away he tightened his grip.
Something in Alfred snapped, he remembered how his father gripped his wrist the same way and he was suddenly terrified. "Stop it! Let me go! I have to...I have to go to him!" his chest heaved up and down, and at that moment Alfred was back with that man trying desperately to escape his grasp so that he could go to his brother. "Let me go! He's scared!" he yelled. Matthew was quick and ran to his brother's aid with his fathers' right behind him, Arthur pulled Alfred away from the boy who instantly let him go and Matthew quickly embraced his brother. "Alfie I'm here!" he hugged him tightly.
The other parent's pulled their children away with concerned looks on their faces, Arthur scolded the boy that had harmed Alfred and demanded to see his mother. "N-no please I'm sorry!" the boy refused to let them see his mother, but due to the commotion going on she was already looking for him. "Where on earth have you been!?" she asked with a frown. "I'm sorry miss, but is this your son?" Arthur asked the woman who looked at him, her frown deepening. "What did he do this time?" she sighed.
Alfred whimpered. "It hurts..." He clutched his hand to his chest his face twisted in pain, Francis quickly looked over him and felt his heart crack when he took notice of a new bruise beginning to form on his son's wrist, he gently took hold of Alfred's hand and turned to Arthur. "Arthur..." he called out to him catching his and the mother's attention. Arthur stayed silent as the mother gasped. "Did you do that?" she asked her son.
The boy dropped his head not uttering a single word, the mother shook her head and grabbed his arm. "We'll wait for your father outside, I'm so disappointed in you. I'm really sorry for my son's behavior and actions, please is there anything I can do?" she asked desperately. Arthur sighed. "No, thank you. Just please, make sure your son learns what is right and wrong. If not for you, then for him. In the future, he can do even more damage to himself and others." Arthur explained with a solemn look.
The mother nodded and apologized once again before leaving dragging her son behind her, Arthur rushed to his son's aid and examined his hand. "It'll be okay, I'm so sorry Alfred." He apologized guiltily as he wrapped the bandages back in place. "It's not your fault dad, I'm okay too. I just panicked." He mumbled tightly holding onto Matthew's hand.
Arthur nodded and the family returned to their seats with even more sets of eyes watching them, Alfred sat close to his brother, it could have been him, he thought with a shudder. Now he was glad that it wasn't his brother getting hurt this time. "I'm okay Mattie," He could easily tell his brother was worried. "I'm not hurt." He reassured and rubbed his back giving him a small smile.
A woman soon appeared. "Is there someone here who has an appointment with Mr.Honda?" she asked curiously both Arthur and Francis stood with their children in tow. "Yes, my children here." Arthur looked down at the boys who hid behind him. "They're not allergic to cat's are they?" she asked. "Ah, no," Arthur replied puzzled. "Great, I'll take them to him and you can wait out here. It will take about thirty minutes so I hope you can wait that long." She frowned. "Of course we can," Francis reassured.
She smiled and called for the frightened boys. "It's okay, Mr.Honda is really nice." She stated kindly, Alfred pulled his brother close to him and took a step forward. "You'll stay here right?" Matthew asked anxiously. "Always." Arthur smiled and kissed the top of his head. "No matter what." With that, the two boys followed the woman.
Francis took Arthur's hand. "Will they really be okay love?" Arthur asked quietly. "Of course they will," Francis reassured his anxious husband. "They're strong. We're strong too." He hugged him tightly both enjoyed their moment until they were interrupted by a gasp and a little girl squealed. "Mommy those two guys are like you and daddy!!" a teen beside her quickly took out her phone trying to sneak a picture. "I ship it." She muttered to herself as her mother sighed while shaking her head.
"Ah..." Francis quickly pulled away from the embrace and sat back down still keeping a tight hold on his husband's hand as the pair sat side by side. "Now that the children are gone," Arthur started in a low murmur. "Why not talk about earlier? Where were we? Hot, was it?" at that Francis blushed and hid his face.
