12. Grand Re-Entrance

YeongMi allowed Hyjoon to boss her around.

Only because YeongMi was completely over her head, trying to follow Hyjoon's directions as she hung precariously below her balcony.

"Can't we just sneak out. I promise I'm really good if I'm trying to be - "

"Don't be a baby! Now focus!"

YeongMi glared underneath her, not even sure where Hyjoon was. Somewhere below her.

Hey, you're the baby! As soon as my feet are on the ground, I'm smacking you."

"Fine, if you're alive, so just listen to me!"

YeongMi sucked up her pride, just barely, and managed to listen to Hyjoon's directions.

She wouldn't admit it, but she was kind of scared. She preferred jumping from heights, not climbing down from them. Somehow falling was less scary than the hazardous climbing. Maybe because it was purposeful falling, whereas with climbing, the falling tended to be accidental.

However, seeing as this was 8 stories up, jumping wasn't such a good idea.

After a while though, YeongMi realized that if she had known what she was doing, it might have been fun. Maybe, someday.

Someday far far in the future, most likely.

Once she reached the ground, as promised, she turned to smack Hyjoon.

But the younger girl was expecting it, and she quickly scurried away, taking advantage of the dark to hide from YeongMi.

"Hey! Get out, you little scum - "

YeongMi ran into someone, and she almost smacked them, until she realized they were too tall to be Hyjoon.

She ran past them before they could recognize her, whisper yelling for Hyjoon.

"Hey! Seriously, I give up, I won't hit you," a total lie, "just show me where the boys are so we can get that over with it."

"I don't believe you!"

YeongMi ran towards the voice, to the back of the school, holding her breath to try and hear Hyjoon.

"Marco...."

"Polo! No, shit, wait!"

YeongMi grinned, running towards Hyjoon's accidental call.

Instead of running into the girl, however, she ran into a bush. A very, very scratchy bush, just short enough to reach her shins and send her tumbling to the ground.

And then she was staring at a lantern, where a group of people were, a laughing Hyjoon at the front.

YeongMi glared, pulling herself up and stalking towards Hyjoon.

"Oh, I am so going to kill you-"

"That's a bad idea, don't kill anyone!"

The unfamiliar voice paused YeongMi's walk, and she turned to find the only person who could possibly be this infamous Bora.

Long, tumbling blond locks framed her hourglass body, complete with slender, long legs, dainty hands, and a fairie-like face.

YeongMi couldn't deny that she was beautiful - which only made YeongMi hate the idea of her even more.

Did she have to be absolutely perfect?!

"Watch me." YeongMi breezed past the girl, who looked genuinely concerned.

YeongMi smirked as she passed the girl, seeing that she was a good few inches taller than her.

A better height for Namjoon.

Shut up.

She was fully intending to ignore Bora - that was better than her other option, which was to be absolutely horrendous to the girl.

She could feel the toxicity in her body, but she couldn't bring herself to care.

What did she care if she was a bitch? She was called it either way, might as well just act how she wanted, whether it was offensive or not.

But the girl grabbed her arm as she passed, blocking her path.

YeongMi jerked her arm out of Bora's hand. And maybe it was a little too rough, too forceful, but YeongMi really hadn't intended for the girl to fall over.

She wasn't particularly upset by it, but it wasn't on purpose.

Evidently that wasn't so obvious, and as the girl huffed on the ground, YeongMi nearly ripped her hair out seeing Namjoon kneel down and help her up.

The dirty look he gave her was a shot to her chest, and she bitterly recalled her own warnings about this.

Caring is dangerous. YeongMi knew that, she told herself that.

It didn't stop her though. It never did. She never learned.

YeongMi backed away, dejected but too irritated to apologize to Bora. It was partially her fault anyways, for grabbing YeongMi's arm in the first place. Who was she to know that YeongMi wouldn't act badly? What if YeongMi had a fear of touching, and Bora grabbing her could've sent her into a nervous fit?

She caught Hyjoon distracted by Jungkook speaking, and she creeped over to her, reaching her arm out and smacking her shoulder - not too rough, she wouldn't want to send anyone else to the ground.

Hyjoon just shrugged it off, grinning impishly.

Jungkook stared wide eyed at her. YeongMi smiled awkwardly, reaching a hand out to tap his shoulder.

"Sorry, if I worried you. I didn't feel well."

It was true, she hadn't felt well. She still didn't. It just wasn't a sickness, not the traditional kind anyways.

Jungkook nodded shyly, and then YeongMi was being pushed back, because Jimin was latching his arms around her.

"Mimi, you're back!"

YeongMi smiled, hesitant to admit that she kind of enjoyed Jimin's affection.

She hadn't really been hugged in a long, long time.

Not since she was a child, actually. And her brother Seungkwan had given her a side hug before he left for training, if that counted.

She let her hands rest on the boy's back, and she leaned her head down to rest on his, closing her eyes slightly.

He smelled like bubblegum and cheap cologne, and it was kind of comforting, kind of familiar.

Oh no.

And then Hoseok was running over, joining in for a group hug, and he smelled like shaving cream and grass, and YeongMi was in deep, her heart was swelling, and she was only half trying to stop it, because fuck, this was dangerous, but it was so nice.

And Taehyung quickly ran over, jumping on Jungkook's back and smacking the boy's butt until he led them over to the group hug, joining.

They released her after nearly breaking her ribs, but she really didn't care.

She gave them hesitant smiles, before Jin was turning around, giving her a scolding look, and she didn't say anything, because he was the one of the group with the most right to look at her like that.

"Next time, we're letting Namjoon break down your door, you hear me?"

Namjoon had come to see her?

No, those were dangerous thoughts, even before Bora was in the picture.

She nodded, uncharacteristically meek.

Hyjoon pulled Yoongi over, and even though he was complaining, YeongMi grinned, because she knew he could've just pulled his arm out of her grip. She probably wouldn't have left him alone, but still, he wasn't really resisting much.

"That was stupid."

YeongMi laughed. "I missed you too Yoongi."

"Whatever." Hyjoon watched Yoongi walk away, less than impressed with his words.

"Are you sure we came here to get my man? Not yours?"

Hyjoon gave YeongMi an incredulous look, scrunching her nose up in forced disgust.

"And who would your man be, exactly?"

YeongMi stiffened before turning to face Namjoon.

Looking past his shoulder to see Jin, she grinned, stepping closer to Namjoon until they were chest to chest.

"Well, Jin of course. You think he'd go for a younger girl like me?"

Namjoon raised his eyebrows, before smirking slightly, crossing his arms.

"Well, I don't know about Jin, but I - "

"Baby! I was wondering where you went - oh, am I interrupting something?"

And Bora was there, her arm sliding between Namjoon's, hanging onto him like she couldn't stand on her own.

And YeongMi was stepping back, her chest once again tight, her heart clenching up, as she once again realized that Namjoon was with Bora before. What would stop them from getting back together?

It's not like YeongMi was important, she was just the new kid that had been just interesting enough to be accepted.

Bora, Bora was everything. She was stunning, she was captivating, what was YeongMi next to her? A taller, less classy version, full of bad decisions, an ugly attitude and a suspicious nature.

And Bora was pulling Namjoon away, and YeongMi was counting in her head, the times she'd told herself to stop caring, the times she'd cared anyways, the times she'd gotten hurt.

They were too high, too many times to count, and they needed to stop.

She needed to stop.
