Chapter 7:
"Hey, Cami." I locked onto his gray eyes.
"Jessa? Is that really you?" Ron said, holding tightly onto Gabby as his eyes flickered up and down my body. They stopped a second too long on my breasts. I hoped Gabby didn't notice him checking me out. I had a hard time keeping friends who were girls and I didn't want to have our friendship start off the wrong way. Ron was a harmless flirt, but she didn't know that yet.
"You all know each other?" Gabby asked quickly.
"Nash and Jessa go way back," Ron answered for us.
"Oh, what a coincidence. Good, then they can catch up while we go have a little fun." Gabby snatched her game card off the table. She hooked her arm around Ron and pulled him away before I could even protest.
I looked down at my hands on the table to avoid looking at Cameron. I could feel his eyes on me. There was an uncomfortable silence between us. This was not how I wanted to see him again for the first time. I wanted it to be on my terms, not some random, casual run-in where I was left tongue-tied.
"I didn't know you were out." He said softly, taking another sip of his beer.
"I've only been home for a few days." I swallowed and looked up hesitantly at him. His blond hair was styled perfectly and it fell just at the right spot on his forehead. I wanted to take my hand and wrap my fingers in it to see if it was as soft as I remembered.
The last time I stroked his golden hair was when his head was between my thighs and I was moaning his name. My cheeks flushed a little at the thought of the things he could do with his mouth.
"You look good, Jess." Cam stared down at me with slightly glassy eyes.
"Thanks... and you look... um... drunk," I said, biting my lip.
"A little buzz but not too bad. We're out celebrating my promotion tonight." He beamed proudly.
"Oh wow, you got a promotion?" I said excitedly before I realized I should reign it down a few notches.
"Yeah, I found a little free time recently and decided to try something new." He said softly.
What he really just said, without coming out and actually saying it, was that he had free time because he wasn't busy chasing my crazy ass all over town. He was always so busy trying to keep me out of trouble that he never had time for himself.
"Cami, congratulations. Well, I guess you should go hang out with your friends. It was really good seeing you." My heart was beating out of my chest. I wanted to play it cool, but I couldn't take my eyes off of him.
This was so confusing and felt way too complicated to deal with tonight.
"Play with me," Cameron called out. When he smiled down at me, the little impish dimple in his cheek begged me to reach out and touch it.
"What?" I asked with my mouth hanging open. My eyes moved down to his jeans involuntarily on their own.
Was he really saying what I thought he was saying?
"You have a game card. I have a game card. Come play with me."
Relief flooded through my body. It was an innocent proposition, not the filthy one my mind automatically assumed. It was still not a good idea. I wasn't ready for him yet.
"Cami, I think I'll pass. Thanks for offering to keep me company. You should really go enjoy your evening." I suggested.
"Why not? Are you too afraid that I'll spank you out there?" He challenged me.
"That would never happen. You would never spank me." I was offended at his insinuation that I couldn't hold my own.
"Never say never, Jess." He winked at me and began to walk away.
I rubbed my thighs together, trying to hold back the moisture already pooling between them. That turned out to be a terrible idea; it just made the feeling more intense. When I got up from the booth, I looked back to make sure that I didn't leave a puddle on the seat.
With a sigh, I grabbed the card off the table and stuck it in my back pocket.
Bad decisions, here we go.
I reluctantly followed him over to a game he was standing in front of. The game had a curtain all around the sides of it. He had a look on his face like he was up to something.
There was no way this was going to turn out well.
"Change your mind?" He teased.
"Shut up and let's just do this," I grumbled back.
Cameron held the curtain open and motioned for me to go in first. I walked past him and went into the little booth. He stepped into the cramped space behind me and closed it, leaving us in the dark except for the flashing lights that were begging for us to play.
I stood there fidgeting as he looked down at me. He took a step closer and reached his hand out around me. I backed up right into the game with no place left to go. He leaned into my ear and then slid his hand in the back pocket of my jeans.
"Cameron." I protested in a breathy moan as I tried to push him away.
He pulled the card out and waved it around in front of my face.
"I need to swipe your card if you want to play." He laughed.
"You could have just asked me to hand it to you." I grumped back at him.
He swiped his game card and then swiped mine. He took the little plastic gun attached to the game and handed it to me. I must have looked at it like I had no idea what I was doing because he felt the need to explain how it worked.
"You aim it at the zombies' heads and you pull the trigger." He teased me.
The game began and I screamed when the first zombie popped out at me. I began pulling the trigger as fast as I could, not even pointing at the screen half the time. He was laughing at me as I cursed and shrieked every time a zombie jumped out to come after me. I looked over at his screen as he lined up his first shot like a pro. He pulled the trigger and hit the zombie with one clean shot right above the eyes. He lined up again and began pulling the trigger repeatedly with a steady hand. Shot after shot hit the zombies right where he wanted. This wasn't fair. He went to the shooting range all the time for his job.
When the timer expired, I frowned, looking at the scores. He more than quadrupled the number of points I had.
"You suck at this, Jess." He snorted as he flaunted his gaming superiority.
"You just picked a bad game. I would crush you on any other game in this place." I defended my nonexistent skills.
"How about a little wager?" He asked deviously.
"What kind of wager?"
"We play, best two out of three. I'll pick a game and you'll pick a game. On the third game, we have to both agree, you know, to make it fair since I am so much better at this than you. If you win, you can name anything you want." He said, smiling.
"Fine, but no shooting games or Fruit Ninja." He swore under his breath, which brought out a tiny snort from inside me.
"What do you want if you win?" He asked.
"If I win, you can pay for my dinner tonight."
"You have a deal." He said, smirking. He pulled the curtain back and began to walk away from me.
"Wait, what happens if you win?" I called out curiously.
"You come home with me tonight." He looked me up and down and licked his lips as he pulled one corner of his mouth up into a smile.
I swallowed. I should have asked him what he wanted before I agreed to play him. He looked like he was up to something and I knew it before I ever even started the first game.
Fuck, I couldn't lose this.
