I immediately jumped back, pulling my bow string back as the minion advanced on me. Fear pulsed through me as I tried to steady myself.
Suddenly, an electrifying pulse blasted through my body and I felt power surge into it, into my bow, making my arrow pulse with power. It was as if everything slowed down for me and I had plenty of time to ready my shot at the minion.
I let the arrow fly, watching it hit the minion with deadly accuracy. A mini explosion lite up the ground in front of the minion and it collapsed, stunned.
I stood still for a moment, seeing a ghostly green glow surround me. I searched for the source, realizing it was coming from my creeper necklace. It glowed a bright green color, casting an ominous light to the rest of my body.
The minion stood up, just as dumbfounded as I was with the power I was presenting. I quickly came to when the minion slashed a sword out at me, pointing it my way. Fire erupted from the tip, making me quickly launch myself away. I slid across the floor, trying to regain my balance as I shot another arrow toward the minion.
This time, the minion anticipated my shot and ducked out of the way, letting my arrow hit a pillar. I watched the pillar explode and shatter to bits.
However, I didn't watch long as the minion advanced on me. It long jumped towards me, landing right next to me. I quickly dashed away, feeling a gash cut into my leg with the minions sword. It didn't bleed, but it burned immensely, slowing me down significantly.
In a desperate attempt, I twisted and launched another arrow towards the minion. It dodged it easily, exploding somewhere behind it.
Immediately, I slung my bow over a shoulder and grasped the knives at my waist, sliding them from their holsters. The minion was quickly advancing and I began dashing towards it as well, catching it off guard with my quick change in weapons.
I pushed the knives, that now had a ghostly aura of green mist surrounding them, into the minions most vital and main bones. They immediately deteriorated wherever the knives touched, causing the minion to scream out in pain.
I suddenly felt a burst of heat and I was launched back, hitting a pillar. I looked up dazed, seeing the minion approaching quickly.
I again grabbed my bow, slipping an arrow onto the string. I shakily shot, hoping the arrow was just as destructive as the other three.
However, my luck ran out as the arrow slipped harmlessly past the minion. I tried to dash away again, instead feeling the burning metal of the minions sword against my neck. I felt the sword begin to burn into my skin, and I yelled out in pain.
Suddenly, I felt myself get lifted and placed back next to Michael's mother, who was also beaten down and panting heavily. She eyed me and gasped, making me look at her in confusion.
"What?" I asked her, choking when the sword was pressed more firmly against my neck.
"You're glowing!" She gasped, getting pushed down by her minion.
"Keep them quiet!" The Wither yelled at the minions.
I looked up, noticing The Wither was standing over Michael. Michael was crouched on the floor of the throne room, panting and clutching his sword tightly. Burns scattered across his body and wounds dripped crimson blood onto the dark floor.
"Now, according to legend, the blood of the child of a warrior and King is the most powerful and most important ingredient to the immortality potion. Of course, we mustn't get this blood from tiny wounds, otherwise the spell will not work. So, say goodbye to your mother and lover, Mogar, for this is the last time you shall see them," The Wither bellowed in a deep, demonic voice.
Michael turned his head to me and locked eyes with me. Suddenly, his eyes widened but immediately softened afterward as he opened his mouth to speak.
"I love you, Gavin. I'm sorry I dragged you here," He croaked out.
I watched in horror as The Wither stepped closer to Michael and laughed a menacing laugh. A long sword appeared in his hand and he lined the sword up with Michael's neck. All I could do was watch in excruciating horror and grief as The Wither pulled back his arm and began bringing it down to hit Michael's neck.
Suddenly, a scream escaped my throat, almost involuntarily. Green light burst out around me, creating a perfect blast wave across the throne room, hitting everything in its wake.
The sword was removed from my neck, along with any presence of danger surrounding me. I stood up and my arms immediately outstretched to my sides. I felt like I was floating.
Until I realized I actually was. Light surged from my fingertips, my feet, and my necklace. I threw my head back as more power surged through my body, creating another surge of power that spread across the entire Nether. Every evil creature disappeared in a poof of gray dust.
When I was finally put back down and the power finished its coarse. I noticed the minions had also disappeared into piles of gray dust. Michael's mother was crouched on the ground staring at me in awe and shock. Michael's head was turned to look at me in amazement and wonder.
I searched the entire throne room for The Wither. As it had it, The Wither was thrown back into the corner of the throne room, groaning.
"No... You can't... You mustn't," The Wither growled at me.
I smirked at him, feeling the green aura disappear from around me. I suddenly felt weak, exhausted even. I could barely stand as it was.
"No! You shall not win! I always win!" The Wither bellowed.
Suddenly, The Wither struggled to stand up. When he failed he used the last of his energy and life force to throw a sword at Michael before he also disappeared into a pile of gray dust.
Unfortunately, Michael didn't see that coming, along with the rest of us and the sword cut through the side of his neck.
Michael screamed out in pain as his neck began to bleed profusely. I immediately stood back up and raced toward Michael, crouching down over him. Michael's mother was right on my heals, sitting opposite of me.
Michael's hands grasped his neck, pressing down on the wound. Blood seeped from between his fingers and he gasped out for air.
Tears came to my eyes and I pressed down on Michael's hands, willing the wound to stop bleeding. Michael's eyes darted from between his mother and I until finally resting on me. Michael lifted his hands from the wound, moving mine away, blood seeped out onto the floor, draining the blood from Michael's body.
"What are you doing?!" I yelled at him. Michael smiled gently, grasping my hands.
"Nothing's gonna save me now. And... This is a good way to die," Michael rasped out.
"No! You're not going to die! I won't let you!" I screamed at him through my misery.
"Shh... Just... Shut up, Gavin... Just... Hold me... Please," Michael sighed out, his eyes slowly closing.
I bent down and rested my head on his chest, crying out. His mother grasped his other hand and sobbed out with me as we watched Michael die.
I listened to Michael's heartbeat, counting them silently. It was still so strong but it defiantly sounded like it was slowing down. Tears squeezed past my eyes as Michael died in my arms, slowly, but surely.
I recalled our journey, our adventure to run from responsibility and live a new life. He put me in the dungeon and hunted me down when I escaped. He was there to learn about my true identity with me, and he promised to protect me from the evils that came with it. He did protect me. So many times.
We started something, on this journey. A type of romance that probably wouldn't be too widely accepted, especially since I wasn't exactly a Prince when Michael and I began this romance. It was wonderful, and it still made my heart lurch whenever I thought about the things we did together.
He was there when we were captured and he was there to meet my parents with me. He was there when we went into The Nether, and he was there when we had our final showdown with The Wither.
And now, he was quickly leaving me whether he wanted to or not.
I listened to Michael's heartbeat fade and slowly stop forever. When I looked up and noticed his face was ghostly pale, a whole new bout of tears overwhelmed me. I realized Michael's mother was no longer here, and instead was walking up the stairs with another man, King Ryan.
"I'm so sorry, Michael," I sobbed out. I collapsed on top of him again, sobbing into his chest. King Ryan bent down beside me, resting his hand on my shoulder.
"My poor son..." He whispered. King Ryan bent over me, brushing Michael's curls back and kissing his cheek. "I always knew he would die in this fashion."
I screamed out in misery at those words. I couldn't take it anymore. My love was dead. All because I forced him to rescue his father. He thought that he forced me but I really forced him. It was my fault he was dead.
I heard a thumping noise.
I opened my eyes and looked down wondering if I was imagining things. I pressed my hand over Michael's chest and felt another rise, then another.
A heartbeat?
I lifted my eyes a bit more, realizing I was encased in an orb of green light with Michael. His neck wound was no longer existent and the color returned to his face.
Suddenly, Michael's eyes blinked open.
I jumped up, scared. What just happened?
"Michael?" I asked tentatively.
"Wow, your a lot more powerful than I thought you were," Michael smirked, sitting up a bit.
"You're alive!" I screamed in happiness.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, excitement surging through me. The green orb pooled away from us, revealing King Ryan and Michael's mother to us. Both watched us in amazement, immediately crouching down and encasing Michael in their own hugs.
"Michael, we did it. We defeated The Wither and rescued your father!" I told him excitedly.
"Yeah. I guess we did," Michael said gleefully.
