Chapter Three
Ting tong!
"Oppa, you out there?!" Duri yelled out to his brother, but when he got no response, the bespectacled teen could only sigh as he opened the door to his room, allowing his three Pokemon out while he followed them down to the door. Who could it be this late? It was usually dinner time in Hoenn!
"Thun thun?" Y asked him.
"I know, I know," he sighed. "But we can't do anything, can we? I just remembered they went out to try to find a last-minute vendor. It's coming up quick, after all, and ghouls are not an easy lot to feed."
"Nekkoara...." Sleep yawned from his position in Duri's black jacket, making him pat the Alolan Pokemon while Meramelion said, "Kajien."
"It's dangerous, I know, so why else would you guys be coming along with me?" he pointed out.
"Shienkaji," Meramelion nodded in understanding.
"Plus, I'm done with the work for today, so I just have to wait for the checks. Hopefully, I can help find a vendor soon," he said, hand moving to the door to open it, only to reveal a baby-faced male with bright green eyes and a blonde buzzcut-like hairdo.
He blinked, squinting slightly as he asked, "Erm, hi?" Did this guy have the wrong house?
"Are you Cha Duri? We need to talk," the mysterious stranger said.
Behind him, a brown-haired male with a red streak in his hair was facepalming while a light-grey-haired female with red eyes looked ready to hit her head against the wall. Duri didn't recognise the male, but he did at least recognise the female.
"Hold on, aren't you the lady who offered me work with the Kuzuryuu clan?" his eyes narrowed at her. "So you guys are from there?"
The brown-haired male snorted, "Depends on how you define "from there"."
"Dan, don't say stuff like that," the other girl, Pekoyama Peko if he remembered correctly from the business card (which he had thrown out the window since they were YAKUZA), frowned before she turned to Duri and said, "Dan and his friends, the Awesome Ones, have been working with us due to an... issue we have been experiencing. We have some contacts who sent them our way, and so they cannot be called members of the Kuzuryuu clan, although at the same time they have picked up some of our habits. Thus, I cannot conclude the validity of that statement."
"The Awesome Ones? Those Pokemon bloggers Fic like?" He couldn't help but be skeptical that this guy, with his nonchalantly bored look and simple hoodie and cargo pants, would work with the Yakuza. "Yeah, I kinda doubt it. I mean, sure looks like him, but compared to what I know of him thanks to Fic, he could just simply look similar to Dan Kouzo from the AO. He is wearing a literal hoodie."
"... I can't tell if that was an insult or not-"
"DAN!"
"Look, whether you doubt it or now, we are here to offer you something," the blonde finally spoke as he stepped forward, a serious look on his face. "We need you to join-"
"And like I said, no way. Working in Kanto is a whole new level of stress," he declined. "Plus, I have tons of work to do."
"I can pay you more money than those flimsy companies can."
"Has no one told you that what you're offering is called bribery?" Duri scowled. "Look, I can't accept! I have more pressing matters to deal with than-"
"Stuff like catering?" he offered.
Here, the Hoenn native froze, "H-How?"
Wait, now that he thought of it, why did these people seek him out this desperately? If they needed him they could have just sent the usual request.
The other sighed and said, "It's a long story. Can we talk inside?"
Duri frowned, but stepped aside warily, "Alright, you win .... erm-"
"Fuyuhiko. Kuzuryuu Fuyuhiko," the blonde finally introduced himself, pushing Duri aside as he, Dan, and Peko stepped in while Duri stared in shock before he nearly woke Nekkoara awake with his shout of "EH?!"
