Chapter Four

Duri stared at the group of eight that had somehow barged their way into his home, with the others coming in after the three had. He did recognise them from watching the AO videos with Fic (mainly because of Fic's crush on their leader) yet he still held his skeptical view.  Why would they be working with the yakuza of all people? They were known for their justice fighting, even though some had come from less-than-good backgrounds, such as Ajit, who used to be a phantom thief's apprentice, and Lightning, their Iwanko who was a certified trainer and was known as a great fighter in his day.

It made no sense to him whatsoever.

"Alright, now that the AO members are here, can we PLEASE explain what's going on?" the yakuza head asked him.

Oh. Right. The head was here too. He had totally forgotten about that, especially with those puffy cheeks.

"What do you lot have to do with the ghoul gathering?" He asked. "How did you know of our predicament?"

"Well, because we're fighting the people who caused it," Fuyuhiko answered, taking out a file and handing it to Duri.

He frowned as he adjusted his glasses, squinting slightly at the words, although he still kept an ear out to the other, raising his eyebrow as he gestured for him to continue.

"Their name is Team Alpha, and their goal is to rip apart mythical communities, sowing discord into them. This is only one of the many schemes they have been up to for the last half-year," Peko spoke up. "The seeds have begun blooming, making it difficult for anyone to trust the other. Aliens and vampires, Power Sfera and Youkai, they're all fighting and losing their camaraderie. Your ghoul gathering's old catering service was destroyed brutally, most of them severely injured."

"But why do all this?" Duri's eyes widened. That was... His brother hadn't mentioned it at all!

"We have a theory that the team has a grudge against the world. A co-leader of the group, Gulus," he gestured to the Single Strike Style Wulaosu on the file,  "thinks that the world is broken and needs to be fixed, while the other, Haavik, wants to put on a show of mayhem and destruction."

"Haavik's why we're working with them," Dan jabbed a finger at the other two. "We were chasing down his Troupe for a while before he joined up with Gulus, and because we share a common enemy, we've been at it together since then."

That... made sense. He did feel a bit bad for judging them, but this only brought up more questions, "Why seek me out anyway? I don't think I can help you with battling."

"No, not battling. Programming," Shun spoke up. "They have an amazing magical programmer who can hack into our firewalls no matter how hard we try to keep them out. We need you to help us with that."

"Not to mention, arranging Fuyuhiko's files because Arceus knows how he manages to find anything in that mess. We will pay you handsomely for it, of course, and we will supply human meat for your event if you take our offer," Peko added.

"HEY!" Fuyuhiko scowled, although it did make his cheeks puff up in a weirdly cute way.

Huh. That was weird. Duri was aware that he was gay, but he had never actually thought that he would be interested in someone.

"If you refuse this time, we will have to take you by force though," the blonde added.

Someone who was not above threatening people, apparently. Seriously, he was so annoying!

Still, with such an irresistible offer, he couldn't help it. It was for the others, so if he had to work for a cute yet amazingly volatile yakuza head, so be it. Not his first rodeo. "You aren't giving me a choice in the end, but I suppose I'll take the job. Just let me pack. I do want to be prepared for where we're going."

"Kanto. More specifically, Kuchiba City," Fuyuhiko answered with a relieved smile.

Duri found, much to his annoyance, that his smile was something that made his chest heat up in happiness.
