Chapter Five

Looking out the window of the plane, Fuyuhiko closed his eyes in relief. It was done. Duri was joining them in the fight against Team Alpha.

He knew the main battle wasn't with Team Alpha, of course. Fic had been specific when they had told them that the real battle was with someone else, but who they didn't know, and Fuyuhiko trusted them a lot, so he might have to stay with them during the fight.

Still, hearing that Duri knew Fic as well surprised him. But then again, Fic got around almost as much as Satoshi, so why was he surprised anyway? The SRS did have a lot of connections, and while he tried to interact with everyone on the team, it was hard to meet everyone when he had an entire organisation to head, not to mention with it growing exponentially almost every day. He couldn't for the life of him remember if Fic had mentioned Duri before.

Turning over to his childhood friend, who was now his secretary, he decided to ask, "Hey, Peko, did Fic or Shirou ever mention Duri?"

The white-haired girl simply blinked, "I don't recall since I work with you, but Naegi has met him before, if I remember correctly. It's how we managed to recruit him after all."

"Huh, maybe he works more as a technician?" Ajit suggested while patting his Trimmien.

"That does seem possible," Hajime drummed his fingers on the table. "Still, keeping an eye out for him would help. I'll ask Naegi about him later on when I call him for updates on the investigation."

"Sounds like a plan!" Wynton agreed. "He doesn't seem like the kind to open up out of nowhere."

"Still, I have my doubts..." Lia frowned. "Are we sure that he is the right one for the job? He rarely battles from what I gather, and Team Alpha's programmer is amazingly high-tech. Not even Hana could keep them out."

They had asked Duri's twin to help out the first time, but it was penetrated so easily despite his efforts. Hana had admitted later on that he didn't do much programming these days; he mainly left that to his brother since it was his jam. Fuyuhiko was pretty sure he could have strangled him if Peko hadn't held him back. He had tried his best, yes, but a casual programmer was worse than a full-time programmer who couldn't win. He just hated slackers.

Still the program he had made was good. Just not enough to take down Team Alpha.

"Hana wasn't an actual programmer," Dan pointed out to her, letting Cyndeous, his Wakasyamo, nap on his legs as he continued, "And we got tons of programmers who couldn't do the job, but they all recommended Duri one way or another. Heck, even Benton and Philomena recommended him."

"Philomena is one prickly character, but she recognises talent well," Shun agreed.

Fuyuhiko sighed, "I don't know, guys. He feels... really annoying to me."

Nagito snorted at that, "What, you've finally found someone as stubborn as you and you call him annoying. Why does that sound like George and Henry all over again?"

"I mean, opposites attract but synonyms repel, right?" Hajime laughed.

He barely dodged a pillow thrown by the red-faced male as he puffed up his cheeks. Honestly! What was Hajime getting at? Why would he like that dumb programmer anyway? Sure, his hair seemed fluffy and his cheeks were puffy, but that was it! Why would he care for him?! He just needed him for a job, that's all!

Gosh, the nerve of some people at times!
