The Time Lords, the Widow, and the Wardrobe - Three
The Doctor watched the Stone step towards the boy and the wooden King and Queen "Careful dear."
"Always am." She winked before looking at the aliens. "What do you want with Cyril?"
The boy blinked his eyes as he woke up. "They're scared." He looked at the Time Lady. "Can't you hear them? The trees are screaming. Can't you hear?"
The Stone tilted her head slightly as the Doctor moved forward and scanned the small crown with his screwdriver before checking the reading. "No, but you can. You're connected to them."
"Through the crown?" The Stone questioned, "interesting."
"Why have the stars left the trees?"
"I think they're-" Cyril began only to stop and scrunch his eyes up.
"It's okay Cyril." The Stone softly cut in. ",Just relax and concentrate. What are they doing?"
"Evacuating." He replied. "They're evacuating."
"But why?" Jenny asked, "What are they evacuating for?"
"They're frightened of the rain. The rain that burns."
"Stone please explain. I'm frightened."
The Time Lady nodded and took the brunettes hand, walking towards the window. "Those stars." She pointed at them. "They're pure life force. A little but like souls, they're trying to escape because they think their home is going to burn."
"Why can't they just float up into the sky?" Lily questioned.
"They can't just float away, they need to travel inside a living thing, for example, Cyril." The Doctor explained.
"As pretty as it is what Cyril is wearing isn't a pretty crown, it's actually a relay."
The Doctor nodded. "They're turning your brother into a lifeboat. That's what this place is for, then. It's an escape plan, is that it?" He looked at the wooden aliens.
The Stones eyes widened as the Queen reached a hand towards Cyril. "Don't you dare!" She shouted, going to run to the alien. The Doctor grabbed the Time Lady, stopping her from possibly harming herself. "Hurt him and you will have me to face!" She screamed.
The Queen rested her hand on Cyril's shoulder. "Your coming was foretold." The boy said in a deep male voice.
"Oh my God, what is that?" Lily stared at them. "Why did he sound like that?"
The Stone sighed and relaxed against the Doctor. "He's okay." She slowly nodded.
"Oh, hello." The Doctor smiled at the Queen. "Are we lip synching now?"
"We had faith." The Queen said through Cyril. "Your coming was foretold."
"There's no such thing as foretelling." The Stone smirked, crossing her arms. "Trust someone who once had foreknowledge."
"And also a time traveller." The Doctor added.
"We waited, and you came."
"So, you've got an escape plan." The Doctor nodded. "Then why aren't you escaping?"
"The child is weak."
"You mean he's a child."
"No, he is weak." The Queen corrected. "The forest cannot live in him. But there are others."
"There certainly are." The Doctor clapped his hands together and knelt down to Cyrils, facing him. "And, the good thing is I look great in a hat. So, let's get this thing off, eh?"
"You are also weak." The Queen added.
"I'm really not. Let's save a forest, eh, Cyril?"
"You are not the one. You are weak."
The Doctor gritted his teeth and pulled the crown off Cyrils head. "I'm really not." He cried out as the crown lit up, burning his hands as he held on tight.
"Doctor!" The Stone cried out, her eyes wide as the Doctor stumbled back. "
"Let go!" Lily shouted.
"Dad, it isn't funny!" Jenny shouted, "just let go!"
"I can't!" The Doctor shouted angrily. The Stone bit her lip for a moment before grabbing the crown without thinking. It suddenly stopped glowing and she blinked. "Oh"
"Oh?" The Doctor stood up, brushing his hands off as he panted, slowly gaining his breath back. "What do you mean oh?"
"You said it hurt, that's what." She nodded at the Doctor. "Honestly sweetheart it feels it's buzzing, not burning."
"Buzzing" He repeated, sounding slightly offended.
The Queen raised a hand to the Stone and rested it on her shoulder, speaking through the Time Lady. "She is strong but she is not ready."
The Stone dropped the crown and stepped away from the Queen. "I don't appricate people talking through me without permission thank you."
"Wait." The Doctor frowned, looking at his wife. "She's strong, I'm weak." He looked at the Stone. "Interesting."
"Mummy?" Cyril looked up and frowned at the Queen before looking at the Stone who shook her head and knelt down, bringing Lily with her who looked slightly weary with the wooden Queen so close to them.
"Afraid not Cyril, just me, the Doctor, Jenny and Lily, but we're going to take you to your mother, I promise you."
Cyril slowly nodded and looked at Lily who took her brothers hand. "It's all right, Cyril."
The Doctor swallowed and looked at Jenny who walked towards the window. "I'm not sure if we're going right now, what kind of rain burns?"
The Doctor closed his eyes for a moment. "Acid rain."
"We have to get out of this forest." The Stone stood up. "We're in terrible danger. This tower is made from wood, not the best protection unless you're trying to keep me or the Doctor out, it won't protect us for long."
"Where's Mummy?" Cyril asked.
"She's coming," Lily answered. "You know she's coming because she always comes, doesn't she."
"Cyril. The way we came here. That door won't stay open forever. Now, I'm not even sure if I can get us through the forest safely, but if we're going to have any chance at all, we have to go now." The Doctor told the boy.
Cyril shook his head and pushed himself further into the throne. "No. We wait for Mummy. Mummy always comes."
"Not this time, Cyril. ." The Stone knelt down beside him. "Please, I have a daughter I have to protect." She glanced at Jenny who nervously stood with the Doctor. "I can't keep her safe here and I can't loose her again, not after just getting her back."
Cyril sat there for a moment before nodding and moving to get off the seat, he froze as a loud thud and the ground moved beneath them.
"What's that?" Lily asked as the Doctor and Jenny looked out the window. The Stone took Cyrils hand and helped him off the seat before she joined the Doctor and Jenny at the window with Lily and Cyril.
"It's an Androzani Harvester," the Stone blinked. "I haven't seen one of them in a while."
"You recognise that thing?" Lily frowned at her.
"More to the point," the Doctor waved at them as he grinned. "I think I recognise the driving." He laughed. "Ha ha! Madge has entered the forest!"
The Stone shook her head at the Doctor who clapped his hands together. "Come on, Madge. You can do it. You go, girl."
"Oh, shut up, you ridiculous oaf!" She shot at him, the Stone snorted as Jenny burst out laughing, pointing at the slightly shocked look on his face.
"Caretaker?" She called.
"Yes?"
"You're fired!"
Jenny began laughing again while the Stone nodded. "I'm surprised you didn't fire him after the hammocks."
The Doctor shot his wife a slightly annoyed look before laughing at her, they watched as the Harvester moved closer to the building only to topple over onto it's side in the final step.
Lily and Cyril gasped, their faces worried while the Doctor placed his hands on their shoulders. "It's okay, she's fine." He reassured. "Don't worry. Stay here. Just stay here."
The Doctor and the Stone ran down the stairs as they heard the door open. "Madge!" They shouted on their way down, "Madge!"
The woman ran into the building, the rain burning multiple holes in her coat, causing it to sizzle. "You okay?"
"Stay inside." She warned them. "The rain is frightful."
The Stone laughed slightly. "They're upstairs with Jenny." The Time Lady pointed upwards and Madge nodded before she ran to the stairs, shouting for them. "Lily? Cyril?"
The Doctor headed to the door and the Stone pulled him back by his jacket. "Careful."
"I wasn't going to go out." He huffed, not believing that she couldn't trust him. "Might ruin my bowtie."
"Of course." She rolled her eyes. "Your poor bowtie." She chuckled fixing it for him.
The Doctor grinned and used his sonic to scan the Harvester before he looked up after noticing a shine. "That doesn't look good."
The Stone looked up as well and swallowed hard. "Mum, dad, Madge has the crown on."
"Stay there, we're coming." The Time Lady replied, the two of them running up the stairs.
They suddenly stopped after entering the room, the life force of the forest entering the crown on Madge's head.
"Madge are you all right?" The Stone asked, walking towards her. "Can you hear me?"
"Yes, I can hear you." She nodded. "I'm perfectly fine, thank you."
"Fine?" The Doctor stared at her. "You've got a whole world inside your head."
"I know!" She laughed. "It's funny, isn't it? One can't imagine being a forest, then suddenly one can. How remarkable."
"You're okay. She's okay."
"She is strong, she is ready."
Madge blinked. "Ooo. That wasn't me. This is all really rather clever, isn't it?"
"She's strong." He frowned. "She's strong." He suddenly slapped his forehead. "Stupid me. Stupid old Doctor."
"Excuse me." The Stone shot him a look.
"Not old, sorry, stupid young Doctor."
"Better." The Stone laughed.
"Do you get it, Cyril?" The Doctor asked the boy.
"No."
"Lily, you do, don't you?"
"No."
"Jenny!" He turned to his daughter. "Please tell me you understand."
"I think so." She frowned. "It doesn't make much sense though."
"Course it does!" He exclaimed. "Think about it. Weak and strong, it's a translation. Translated from the base code of nature itself. You and I, Cyril, we're weak." He gestured from himself and Cyril. "But she's female, just like the Stone, she held the crown, the Queen said she was strong but she wasn't ready. That still doesn't make sense but that doesn't matter, we can figure that one out later, anyways do you know what makes them strong? They're not just female, they're mums!" He laughed. "How else does life ever travel? The Mother ship."
Jenny grabbed onto the Doctor when the dome suddenly detached itself from the building and rose into the air.
