The Doctor, the Stone and Hammocks

Only a small chapter here, it isn't anything special. I originally wrote this months and months ago for my 'oneshot' book for random things I wrote based off my first Doctor Who series: parallel (this one!!!). That book wasn't updated much so I'm sadly taking it down but obviously I can't let that hard work go to waste so here is the small piece of writing I originally wrote for that.

"Dear?" The Doctor loudly called walking down the TARDIS corridor and towards the library where he knew the Time Lady would be, sat on the sofa, legs curled up behind her and book in hand, her bottom lip between her teeth as she read the pages of whatever book currently had her wrapped around it's non existent finger. It was one of his favourite sights. She looked so peaceful and relaxed, especially when he forced her to put on one of her old incarnations reading glasses. She just looked absolutely adorable with them on. "Stone." He whined rolling out the 'o' sound just so make him sound that little bit more annoying as he walked into the library. You would think he would understand that libraries were places to be quiet.

Then again it was the Doctor and of course the Doctor really didn't understand.

"Stoooone." He whined again trying to get her attention when he spotted her. Pouting when she didn't even look up he walked over and plopped himself down on the sofa beside her, placing his chin on her shoulder. He frowned at the book she was reading. "Harry Potter again, dear?"

"Mhm." She hummed giving him a quick glance before her eyes became fixed on the pages in front of her again. "You know I adore the books."

"Almost as much as you will adore me when you see what I have done?"

She could practically hear the smirk plastered on his lips.

"What have you done now, sweetheart?" She questioned somehow multi-tasking with how her eyes continued to move across the page, never stuttering or stopping for a moment.

"Come and look." He replied.

"Isn't there a word you use before that?" She raised a brow and tore her eyes away from the book to look at her husband.

"Please." He rolled his eyes at her antics. Honestly, it was surprising how no one thought she was his mother yet.

She sighed and closed her book, placing it on the small desk beside the sofa, she shifted herself to face him, sitting cross-legged. "You have my undivided attention, Doctor."

"I did something really cool and you're going to love it." He couldn't stop himself from grinning like a child.

"If you managed to get that pill to work and for our daughter to squeak like a mouse after I told you to leave her alone, I will hurt you, Doctor."

He swallowed slightly but didn't move which only denied what she claimed. After a moment she relaxed. "Come and see." The Doctor jumped up, tugging on her arm like a small child who had just spotted the Dinosaur ride in an amusement park.

"Oh all right." She chuckled standing up. "I don't understand what you're so happy about but if does intrigue me a little."

"A little!" He squeaked sounding offended.

"Well, I don't know what it is yet." She replied lightly shoving his shoulder with her own. He honestly was the biggest idiot at times.

"Oh." He blinked realising that she wasn't trying to be snide or rude but actually was using logic which he honestly didn't have at that moment in time. "Right, the surprise." He beamed grabbing her hand again and pulling her along down the corridor.

They arrived in front of the old dark brown wooden door, or the door to their room to be precise.

"The surprise is in our bedroom?" The Time Lady questioned wondering what on Earth (or rather the TARDIS) he had done this time. The Doctor wasn't nervous or looked distressed so it couldn't have been bad, then again there had been plenty of times when he thought something good had come out of one of his idea only to backfire on him when the Stone properly thought out all the variables and possible outcomes.

"Yes." He nodded frowning slightly as if to say it was the most obvious thing in the world. "You're going to love it." He beamed gripping the handle. She raised a brow and he swung the door open.

Her mouth dropped open.

"You didn't."

"I so did." He smirked.

"But- but-" she stuttered looking from him to the room in horror.

He looked at her worryingly. "You don't sound impressed."

"But that was our bed." She whined giving him a pleading look. "I loved that bed."

"And you will love this one." He protested.

"That's not a bed, sweetheart." She shook her head and pointed at it. "That is a hammock."

"You sleep in a bed, therefore it is a bed."

"It's a hammock."

"Bed."

"Hammock."

"Bed."

The Stone sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Please tell me you saved the beds to the TARDIS database?"

"Oh, there is a room identical with our bed." He waved a hand.

"Can we please have that and not the hammock."

"Please at least try it." Hs pouted, giving her the 'puppy dog eyes' that made the Time Lord look so innocent.

She tried to resist and then groaned as his pout grew. "Fine."

His face instantly brightened and he ran over, pulling her with him and grabbed the hammock with one hand. Holding it steady as she climbed in and frowned, seeing how it felt. "It's," he closely watched her, "not too bad."

"See!" He brightened, jumping in, forgetting there was a Time Lady already lying inside.

She squeaked and he winced and then shifted himself. They both stared at each other for a moment, nose to nose pressed up against the other in the tiny space. It was pretty intimate to say the least. The Doctor smiled slightly and moved his arm, putting it around her and pulling her as close as possible. She chuckled and kissed him. The Doctor hummed and wrapped his legs around her own. The two of them tangled in the hammock.

"This is quite comfortable." The Stone whispered to her husband.

"I thought you would like it." He grinned.

She rolled her eyes and lightly hit his chest. "You made your point. She went to get out and fell back into the Doctors arms.

She tried again.

And again.

"Doctor." The Stone groaned looking over her shoulder at him. "How do we get out of this thing?"

"Umm..." he slowly replied.

She buried her head in her hands, mumbling: "You don't know how do you?"

"Afraid not dear..." he replied.

"Great." She sighed. "We're stuck here. Why is this hammock so deep anyway?"

"So you don't fall out."

"You mean 'so you, don't fall out', Doctor." She chuckled at her husband.

"Fine." He pouted. "Maybe if we swing it a bit we can pull ourselves out by using the floor."

"I don't think that will-"

The Doctor did it anyway and winced before yelping himself when they both fell on the floor. The Doctor on top of the Stone.

"I hate you." She glared up at him. Her back feeling slightly sore from the fall. Her head was not so bad with the hammock that had been torn in a pile underneath her.

"No." He beamed lightly rubbing her nose with his own. "You don't."

"Fine." She rolled her eyes giving in. How could she not? He was being adorable. "Can we go and find Jenny now?" She suggested. "I'm sure she would like to go somewhere."

"In a bit." The Doctor whispered lightly kissing her nose and then her lips.

She swore she saw his eyes go darker.

As it turned out they definitely did.

Good right? I certainly enjoyed remembering how easily I wrote this after gaining the silly idea months ago. I knew I HAD to include it. Off to A Crack In Time with 'the Beast Below' now. That will be out sometime next week so keep an eye out of that!
