The Angels Take Manhattan - Two

It's been a while since I uploaded anything I just haven't been wanting to write much lately really but I promised myself I've never just leave my books I love them too much for that <3 Who's ready to cry now?

-----

The Time Lords quickly caught up with Amy who was just about to go into the cellar. "No!" They shouted. Jenny grabbed her arm and pulled the ginger away. "They're Angels. Baby Angels."

"Did they get Rory?" She asked. "Where is he? Did they take him?"

The Doctor slowly nodded. "Yes, I think so, yes." They slowly backed up the stairs before sprinting up them.

"So, is this what's going to happen?" Amy questioned as they headed back to the hall. "We just keep chasing him and they keep pulling him further back?"

"He isn't back in time." They heard River who stood in the middle of the room with no angels near her. They all blinked in surprise as she casually read from the device in her hand. "I'm reading a displacement, but there are no temporal markers. He's been moved in space, not in time, and it's not that far from here by the look of it."

The Stone smiled proudly. "You got out."

"So, where is he?" The Doctor asked. "Well, come on, come on, come on, where is he?" The Time Lord pressed on.

"If it was that easy, I'd get you to do it." River rolled her eyes.

Jenny smiled at her Aunt. She really hadn't known her that long but it felt like she knew her forever. "How did you get your wrist out without breaking it?"

"She asked, I did." River replied looking at her device. "Problem?"

The Doctor chuckled. "You just changed the future."

"It's called being your wife's sister Doctor. Now, please be quiet, I'm working."

"You know she is good, have you noticed?" The Doctor asked the Stone. "Really, really good."

"Ah, wherever it is, it's within a few blocks. There's a car out front." She smirked.
"Shall we steal it?"

Jenny's eyes brightened at the thought of some excitement. She could tell her parents were very, very slowly making their adventures smaller and less dangerous. They had to with a baby due soon, it was getting worse with how much the Doctor was treating the Time Lady like a china tea set, he didn't want either his wife or unborn child to get hurt, they had no idea the exact amount of months the Stone had left with how rare it had been on Gallifrey for a natural pregnancy, they were only going on guesses. Jenny jumped up. "Show me!" She grabbed Rivers right hand. The woman cried out and yanked her arm away making them all freeze and stare at her.

---

Jenny slowly shook her head at her parents before sitting down next to River while the Doctor told Amy how to find Rory. "Why did you lie to my mum and dad?"

River chuckled. "When one is the sister of your mother who is married to the man who insists on the face of a twelve-year-old, one does one's best to hide the damage because it will hurt them both."

"It must hurt." She winced lightly holding it in her hand.

"Yes." She nodded. "And the wrist is pretty bad too."

Jenny shook her head at River and slightly tightened her grip as golden regeneration energy transferred from her to River. "There you go Auntie."

"River blinked at her. "But-"

"Don't worry about me." She cut in, seeing the slightly annoyed look on Rivers face. "They don't think I even have enough to regenerate." They both then glanced at the Time Lords.

"They're scared" River whispered. "When I'm not here you will look after them both for me won't you?"

"I promise." Jenny nodded with a small smile.

"Thank you, Jenny" River warmly smiled at her niece.

"Better?" The Stone asked River as she walked over to the two.

"Yes." She nodded. "Your daughter definitely is special."

The Doctor looked at Jenny proudly. "We know."

Rivers device then beeped making them all stare at it. "There you are." The Doctor murmured.

"Winter Quay." River nodded. They quickly headed to the car.

---

Amy and Jenny got out of the car. "Why would they send him here?" River murmured looking at her device. "Why not zap him back in time, like they normally do?"

"We'll know that when we know what this place is." The Doctor said getting out with the Stone.

"Winter Quay." Amy read the sign.

---

They headed up a lift. "Rory?" Amy said stepping out of the lift.

"He's close."

"Rory!" Amy shouted, spotting him stood in a roomr.

"Amy." Rory replied as Amy ran towards her husband and tightly hugged him.

The lights flickered out and an angel suddenly appeared and blocked their way. "Doctor, look at this." River frowned while the Doctor grabbed the Stone and Jenny, putting them behind him. "Why is it smiling?"

The Doctor looked around before seeing the nameplate on the door. The apartment belonged to Rory,

"Amy. Rory!" He sprinted in. "Get out of here! Don't look at anything. Don't touch-"

"Who's that?" Amy questioned.

"No..." the Stone whispered shaking her head. The Doctor tightly hugged her. The two of them turned away hiding their faces into the other. "No, please no." She whispered into the Doctors chest.

Jenny and River swallowed hard as they watched. The older man lying in the bed pointed to Amy. Happiness and shock across his face. "Amy. Amy, please. Amy, please. Please."

"Rory?" She said moving over to him and holding the older man's hand She looked to the younger version. "He's you."

"Amy." He breathed out before closing his eyes, his last breath leaving his lips.

The current Rory looked at Amy with a shocked expression before he turned to the Time Lords. "Will someone please tell me what is going on?"

The Doctor swallowed hard and tightened his grip on the back of the Stones neck. Her face still buried in his chest as he looked up. "I'm sorry, Rory, but you just died. This place is policed by Angels. Every time you try to escape, you get zapped back in time."

"So this place belongs to the Angels?" Amy asked. "They built it?"

"Displacing someone back in time creates time energy, and that is what the Angels feed on. But normally, it's a one-off, a hit and run. If they could keep hold of their victims, feed off their time energy over and over again. This place is a farm. A battery farm. How many Angels in New York?" He asked River.

She shook her head unable to answer his question with a number. "It's like they've taken over every statue in the city."

"The Angels take Manhattan because they can, because they've never had a food source like this one. The city that never sleeps."

"What was that?" Rory frowned hearing what sounded like footsteps outside of the window.

"I don't know. But I think they're coming for you."

"What does that mean? What is going to happen to me? What is physically going to happen?"

"The Angels will come for you. They'll zap you back in time to this very spot, thirty, forty years ago. And you'll live out the rest of your life in this room until you die in that bed."

Rory swallowed hard. "And will Amy be there?"

"No."

Amy stepped forward. "How do you know?"

The Stone lifted her head and sniffed a little, her eyes were red with tear marks on her cheeks. She never remembered losing a companion to death before, she hoped she never would again. "Because he was so pleased to see you again." She whispered.

"Okay. Well, they haven't taken me yet." He said trying to sound somewhat hopefull. "What if I just run?" He asked. The Stone slowly shook her head. "What if I just get the hell out of here? Then that never happens."

"It's already happened." The Doctor replied for the Time Lady. "Rory, you've just witnessed your own future."

"Doctor, he's right." River frowned.

"No, he isn't."

"If Rory got out, it would create a paradox."

"What is that?" Amy questioned.

"This is the Angels' food source. The paradox poisons the well. It could kill them all. This whole place would literally unhappen."

"It would be almost impossible." The Stone shook her head again.

"Loving the almost." The curly-haired blonde smirked.

"But to create a paradox like that wouldn't it take a large amount of power?" Jenny asked her parents.

The Doctor nodded. "An unimaginable amount of power." He looked at Amy. "What have we got, eh? Tell me. Come on, what?"

Without saying another word Amy stood next to Rory and entwined their fingers looking almost as determined as the Doctor when he was making fish fingers and custard. "I won't let them take him. That's what we've got."

"Oh, Amy Pond." The Stone slightly smiled.

"Whatever that thing is, it's getting closer," Rory warned.

"Rory, even if you got out, you'd have to keep running for the rest of your life." The Doctor continued to deny what they were going to do. "They would be chasing you for ever."

"Well, then. Better get started." She opened a door and an angel was stood outside. "Husband, run." The Ponds ran past the light which flickered as the Doctor was about to step back.

"Stone do you really think this will work?" He questioned. The light flickered again and he jumped back squeezing the Stone's hand.

"Jenny?" She asked.

"Yeah?"

The light went out again making them all jump back into the room.

The Time Lady swallowed hard. "Don't let go out your Aunts hand for a second."

"Yes, mum." She quickly replied with a firm nod.

They backed up and heard River and Jenny gasp when they spotted two more angels. The Doctor quickly brought out his sonic and held it up to the light bulb to keep it on. "We can't keep doing this." He muttered.

"Any ideas?" River questioned staring at the Angel in front of her.

"Yeah, the usual." He winced. "Run!"

"I would if I could dad," Jenny replied.

"We can." The Stone smiled spotting what the angels missed. "Fire escape."

"Right." The Doctor nodded and handed his sonic to River. "Jenny, River go first. Keep the light on as me and the Stone move across."

"Okay." Both of the blondes replied carefully moving past the angels. Jenny started to climb the ladder that moved up to the roof. River used the Doctors sonic to keep the light on as the Time Lords moved towards the ladder. They then headed up.

---

"Amy!." Jenny shouted reaching the roof. Rory."

The Doctor, the Stone and River also got up. "What the hell are you doing!" The Time Lord gasped quickly moving over to them.

"Changing the future," Amy replied. "It's called marriage."

"No!" They both screamed when Amy and Rory stepped off the roof and started to fall. They leant over and shouted for the Ponds. Their throats burning and hearts pumping. "Amy, Rory!"

"Doctor!" River shouted spotting what looked like a giant angel that had been disguised as the Statue of Liberty. "What's happening?"

"The paradox." He replied. "It's working! The paradox is working!"

---

Amy and Rory sat up in the grave yard in 2012. "Where are we?" He questioned as the Time Lords ran over.

"Back where we started." The Doctor answered. "You collapsed the timeline. The paradox worked. We all pinged back where we belong."

"What, in a graveyard?"

"This happened the last time. Why always here?"

"You know I don't think it really matters right now." The Stone said tightly hugging them. We could've blown New York off the planet and now we can't ever take the TARDIS back there. The timelines are too scrambled."

"We could have lost you both." The Doctor said hugging them. "Don't ever do that again."

"What did we do?" Rory frowned. "We fixed it. We solved the problem."

The Doctor smiled at them and kissed their foreheads. "I was talking to myself."

"I'm not." The Stone hugged them again. "Seriously don't do that again." She warned. "You two are technically my parents in a way and my child is going to need you two so don't do that. Okay? I'm already bloody terrified as it is without having to worry about the baby."

"Sorry, we'll try not to." Rory nodded and watched the Time Lords head over to River who was cleaning the TARDIS. Jenny squeezed Amy and Rory with hugs.

"It could do with a repaint." River informed them.

"We've been busy." The Doctor protested. "And we're going to be."

River snorted. "She got what 10 or so months until the baby is due? You've got plenty of time."

"For now." The Doctor said knowing that by the Time he got around to repainting something more important would pop up. "Does the bulb on top need changing?"

"I just changed it." He nodded.

"So." She wiped down one of the sides. "Rory and Amy, then."

"Yes." He sighed. "I know, I know."

"I'm just saying. They're going to get terribly bored hanging round here all day."

"Doctor."

"Ha!" He pointed at the man listening.

"Look, next time, could we could just go to the pub?" He suggested.

The Stone snorted at the idea of the Doctor going to a human pub. "I want go to the pub right now." He poked his tongue out at the Stone as if he knew exactly what she was thinking. "Are there video games there? I love video games."

"Right." River smiled. "Family outing, then, Jenny can you help me with this please." She held the bucket.

"Yeah." The blonde nodded running over to her Aunt to help.

The Doctor smiled at the thought of them, all going out. Domestics wasn't his or the Stones thing, but he knew that sooner or later they would have to incorporate it much more into their lives when their baby was born. Now was a better time than ever to try it. Kissing the Stones hand and entwining their fingers they headed inside the TARDIS only to hear the cries of Amy Pond shouting both of their names.

Turning around without a second thought the four exited the TARDIS, Rory nowhere in sight with an Angel smiling, pointing at them. "Where the hell did that come from?" River asked seeing it.

"It's a survivor." The Doctor carefully stepped forward as the Stone choked a hand flying to her mouth hoping what she thought happened was not true. "Very weak, but keep your eyes on it."

"Where's Rory?" Amy asked.

The Doctor grasped the Stones hand not knowing what she would try and do to get Rory back. He slowly turned and spotted the gravestone that said Rory's name with the age of 82 next to it. "I'm sorry. Amelia, I'm so, so sorry."

The Stone let out a sob and Amy shook her head, smiling in disbelief.
"No. No, we can just go and get him in the TARDIS. One more paradox."

"Would rip New York apart." He cut in.

"No, that's not true." She shook her head. "I don't believe you."

"Mother, it's true." River told Amy.

The redheaded human stepped forward. "Amy, what are you doing?" He warned.

"That gravestone," she swallowed hard not evening having to make a decision. "Rory's, there's room for one more name, isn't there?"

"What are you talking about?" He frowned going to grab her. "Back away from the Angel. Come back to the TARDIS. We'll figure something out."

"The Angel, would it send me back to the same time? To him?"

"I don't know. Nobody knows."

"But it's my best shot, yeah?"

"No!" He protested. The Stone sobs grew louder, her whole body shaking in fear now. Jenny squeezed her mother hand with tears threatening to fall from her own face. She didn't know them as long as her parents, It wasn't biological family but it definitely felt like it.

"Doctor, shut up." River cut him off not even daring to warn the Stone for she could have to face the angry Time Lady. "Yes. Yes, it is."

"Amy." The Doctor croaked.

"Well, then. I just have to blink, right?"

"No!"

"It'll be fine." She swallowed. "I know it will. I'll be with him, like I should be. Me and Rory together. Melody?"

"Stop it." He pleaded. "Just, just stop it!"

River reached forward and took Amys hand kissing it. "You look after them, look after your niece, your sister and her baby. "You be a good girl now and look after him so he can look after them, okay? You better tell that baby amazing stories about me and Rory okay?"

River squeezed her mothers hand before letting go and reaching for the other gingers one. "Stone, we didn't always see eye to eye at first but you became one of my greatest friends, I'm sorry you didn't get to say goodbye to Rory but you know he loves you very much and I know your hurting but you have to stay strong because you have your child to raise very soon." The Time Lady sniffed and nodded her head at Amy in agreement before she slowly moved from Jenny to the Doctors arms. "I know you're not truely my daughter," the Scot continued to speak to the Time Lady, "but you are in my heart, thank you."

"You are creating fixed time." The Doctor warned through his own tears. "We will never be able to see you again."

"I'll be fine." She slowly nodded. "I'll be with him."

"Amy, please, just come back into the TARDIS." He begged. "Come along, Pond, please."

"Raggedy man," she took a breath. "Tattered Stone." She turned around and in her final breath: "Goodbye."

"No!" The Time Lords wailed together almost falling to the floor if it wasn't for Jenny who held them up with her arms around them both, the Stone crashed down first, her knees stinging from the pain, the Doctor joined her a moment later, his arms cradling his wife's head to his chest, feeling her tears dampen his tweet jacket.

---

The Stone still hadn't calmed down with her eyes red, puffy and extremely sore. She sat on the stairs with the Doctor. Both of them holding each other with Jenny rubbing their backs. River flew the TARDIS and the Doctor swallowed looking up. "River, they were your parents. I'm sorry, I didn't think."

"It doesn't matter."

"Of course it matters." He replied.

"What matters is this." She looked at them both. "Doctor, Stone, don't travel alone."

"Travel with us, then." The Stone offered.

She smiled glad that the Time Lady actually said something after not speaking a word for at least thirty minutes. "Whenever and wherever you want. But not all the time. Only two psychopaths are allowed per TARDIS." She joked. Gaining no reply she slowly nodded. "Okay. This book I've got to write. Melody Malone. I presume I send it to Amy to get it published?"

"Yes."

"I'll tell her to write an afterword. For you. Maybe you'll both listen to her." She walked out of the console room.

The Doctors eyes met the Stones. "The last page!" They breathed sprinting out of the TARDIS. River planned this, she took them back, they ran with Jenny right on their tails.

---

"Afterword, by Amelia Williams." Jenny telepathically read to them, sitting between the Time Lords on the bridge, both of her parent's heads rested on her shoulders as their own eyes followed the words on the page. "Hello, old friends. And here we are, you two and me, on the last page. By the time you read these words, Rory and I will be long gone. So know that we lived well, and were very happy. And above all else, know that we will love you always. Sometimes I do worry about the two of you, though. I think once we're gone, you won't be coming back here for a while, and you might be alone, which you should never be. Don't be alone, Doctor, Stone. And do one more thing for me. There's a little girl waiting in a garden. She's going to wait a long while, so she's going to need a lot of hope. Go to her. Tell her a story." They faintly smiled tears welling up in both of their eyes yet again, even Jenny was sniffing now, she really wanted to not cry because she wanted to continue reading. "Tell her that if she's patient, the days are coming that she'll never forget. Tell her she'll go to sea and fight pirates. She'll fall in love with a man who'll wait two thousand years to keep her safe. Tell her she'll give hope to the greatest painter who ever lived and become apart of the greatest family she could ever dream of, she'll save a whale in outer space and become a mother and grandmother to aliens hundreds of years older than herself. Tell her this is the story of Amelia Pond. And this how it ends."
