8- Gone
Luke gently picks up the small sleeping girl and changes her out of the onesie and into a sweater and leggings. He packs her a bag tiredly as she lays on the love seat, mumbling in her sleep.
God at way too earlier for him to wanna be awake, and god forbid Delilah wakes up before eight. She'd throw a fit.
"Juice, pacifier, coloring books, colored pencils-" Luke was not giving the girl markers anymore. Not by a long shot."-blanket, snacks..." he lists off in a whisper, glancing around the room.
He grabs the bag and slings it over his shoulder, then gently lifts the adorable little girl up and smiles happily, if exhaustedly, and carries her out to the car, strapping her limp body into the car seat.
"Mmm..." she mumbles, and his eyes widen.
"Fuck, momo." He realizes quietly, closing the door to the car as quietly as possible and running back to the door, unlocking it and running to her nursery to grab the stuffie, and for safe measures, the fox as well. He sincerely hopes nothing goes wrong today.
He goes back to the car and gets in, playing the music softly as he drives to the boys' house.
Luke had to go help his mom and dad today, install and fix a bunch of stuff, technology and whatever else they wanted, and as much as he hated to leave Delilah, if he brought her, she'd end up bored and throwing fits, and Liz would probably try to help and overwhelm the little girl.
So she was staying with her Uckles.
She's been asking for them anyway, she'd probably he glad to see them again, but he couldn't help but hope she'd miss him.
Of course she would, she'd probably cry, right?
No, he didn't want her to cry.
But she'd cried when ash and Mikey and cal left, so he shamefully admits to himself that he'll be hurt if she doesn't cry when he leaves.
He glances in the rear view mirror and smiles as Delilah smiles in her sleep.
She begins frowning as Luke continues glancing between her and the road.
She wakes up and glances around whimpering.
"Hey baby..." he says and she looks at hi through the mirror.
"Daddy!" She says sleepily, reaching her hands forward and whining as she pulls against the seat belts.
"Shhh, princess. We're almost there, ok? You're gonna have so much fun with your uncles, babygirl." He says in a sweet voice, making the raven haired girl smile.
"Uckle?"
"Yes babydoll. You're gonna see your uncles. They're gonna watch you while daddy goes to Nanas house."
"Momo?" She looks around frantically and Luke thanks his he remembered the toy as he fishes it out and gives it to her, making her giggle.
"Daddy daddy!" She giggles. Luke smiles and turns the music slightly up, causing Delilah to smile and make the puppy dance.
Luke pulls into ashs driveway, were so far only ashtons car is parked, but the other two should be along shortly.
Delilah fights her restraints, excited to see her uncles.
Luke goes to the back and helps her out, grabbing her bag and lifting her into his hip to carry her inside the big navy blue house.
"Delilah!" Ashton says excitedly as he takes the giggling girl from Luke, returning the hug she enthusiastically gives him.
"Uckle!" She giggles.
"Yes, cutie pie." He chuckles, putting her on his hip as he turns his attention to Luke. "I just texted the boys, they'll be here in a minute." He explains as Delilah plays with his curls, pulling one taut and releasing it to giggle as it springs back into place.
"Momo!" She says excitedly as she holds the stuffie in front of ashs face.
"Yes, very nice." He chuckles, handing her back to the taller blonde when he reaches for her."How do you think she'll go without ya?"
"I'm not sure. When you guys left she cried for a bit, so I'm assuming g she'll do the same when I leave. She better." He chuckles, playfully glaring at the little girl, who in return raises an eyebrow, then leans forward to peck his cheek.
"Nums!" She says.
"You want num nums, doll? Sorry, she didn't have breakfast, she was asleep and I didn't wanna wake her up."
"That's fine, here I'll get her something." Ash says as he rubs off into the kitchen and Luke follows behind.
Ashton makes her a bowl of strawberry special kay cereal- always being the one to have healthy food in his house- and she eats happily at the table as the two boys talk.
"Where is the small one?" Michael yells as he runs into the house, Calum close behind.
He stomps into the kitchen and scoops her up as she squeals and laughs. He hugs her to his chest before setting her down and letting her return to her cereal.
"I want hugs too!" Calum whines as he bends over and squeezes the little girl.
"Hi Delilah." He laughs as she squeals again.
"Uckles!"
"Yes, hello little one." Mikey chuckles.
"Uckles! Daddy!" She giggles. "Delilah!" She then squeals, hopping down as away from her 2/3 finished cereal.
"No, Delilah, finish eating. It's not that much." Luke catches her as she attempts to run into calums arms, plopping her back into the chair as she pouts up at him.
"Dadddyyyyyy." She whines.
"Eat."
"Daddyyyy peas!"
"No. Eat, Delilah." Luke raises his eyebrows. "Then you can go play."
She pouts but does as told, then looks up at Luke.
"Ok." He nods, chuckling, then tilts his head towards Calum. "Go ahead." She giggles and hops up, running to Calum and hugging around his waist, then Michaels, then Ashton's, then Luke's.
"Tuf?"
"What's that mean?" Michael chuckles, looking to Luke for an answer.
"She wants us to pay with her stuffies with her, buuuut-" Luke bends down and scoops Delilah off the ground, setting her in his hip as she looks curiously at him. "Daddy has to go." He gives the little one a hug and sets her down, going to the front door. Delilah follows him and pouts as he begins putting his shoes back on, but she plops on the ground and begins putting hers on too.
"No." Ash chuckles, taking the shoes away and picking her up.
She whines and wiggles, looking at ashton frowning confusedly.
"Your daddy's gonna go, baby. You're staying here." Calum says, taking Delilah from Ashton's arms.
"Daddy?" She asks, reaching for him. He takes her and kisses her head.
"Daddy." She points at her shoes.
"No." He chuckles.
"Say buhbye." He smiles down at her.
"B-bu-bye?" She raises an eyebrow.
"Yes. Bye baby." He kisses her head again and she kisses his cheek in return.
Luke gives her to Michael and opens the door as she shrieks in protest, wiggling fiercely until Michael is forced to set her down so he doesn't hurt her, but when she tries to run for Luke, Ashton catches her.
"NOOOO!" She shrieks, and Luke sighs, kissing her head.
"Daddy will be back tonight baby, be good please."
"No! Daddy!" She sobs.
"Fuck- I can't do it. She thinks I'm leaving her." Luke sighs, taking her from Ashton, and she clings around him tightly, sobbing.
"Daddy will be back babygirl. I promise baby, daddy's not going anywhere."
It breaks his heart to see her so upset, thinking he's abandoning her.
After she's sobbed for a minute, Luke looks at the clock.
"I really need to go." Luke sighs, prying the little girls body from his and handing her off to Ashton so she can sob into him instead- sobbing and shrieking as Luke leaves.
"Oh my goodness, girl. You have to stop crying. You're going to die." Michael groans as the little girl sobs.
"Michael! Don't say that!" Claim scolds.
"She doesn't understand!"
"Exactly. Cut her some slack." Calum pouts as he picks her up from Michaels chest and cradled her. "She thinks the most important person ever to her just left her forever."
"Daddy! Daddy!" She cries.
"I know little one." Calum sighs, running a hand through her hair.
"Poor girl. She's been at it for hours." Ashton sighs as he comes in with pudding and a spoon for her.
Calum sits down and sets the girl on his knee, but she refuses to let Ashton feed her, so after 20 minutes he gives up and lets Michael eat it.
Ashton's phone rings and he sighs in relief when Luke's name flashes across the screen.
"Oh thank god, she hasn't stopped crying since you left."
"Yeah, yeah, here."
Ashton presses the phone against delilahs ear, and she tries to push it away before she hears Luke's calming, familiar, reassuring voice.
"Daddy!" She cries.
"Yes, hi babygirl. Daddy is only gonna be gone another few hours, but you've gotta stop crying. Be good for uncles. Can you do that princess?"
"Daddy. Daddy- d-Delilah."
"Yes, daddy will come home to Delilah soon, but, you need to calm down. Ok?"
"Daddy..."
"Hmm? You feel better now?"
"Daddy." She whispers again.
"Ok, baby, say buh bye and daddy will see you in a bit."
"Bug bye."
"Aww, bug bye, princess." Ashton takes the phone back and says bye to Luke, relieved the girl has finally stopped crying.
"Do you wanna color now, or watch a movie?" He holds up the coloring book and the movie case.
Delilah points to the movie case and then crawls into calums lap as ash puts it in, the four cuddling for the duration of the movie.
Delilah falls asleep halfway through, and after another movie, Luke gets home.
"I don't hear anything? She must've calmed down?"
"She fell asleep halfway through the first movie we watched."
"Worn out from all that crying." Michael chuckles.
"God, pray I can get her to bed tonight." Luke chuckles, squatting in front of the sleeping girl and kissing her head.
"Daddy!" She says happily after her eyes have fluttered open.
She lunges forward and wraps herself around the blonde man, squealing.
"Yes, daddy missed his babygirl."
