23- Daddys Family
Luke makes his way up to Liz's house as Delilah giggles and kicks the back of his seat.
"Delilah, if you make daddy pull over and make you quit, he's gonna spank you."
Not really. He'll probably just glare at her as he moves her to the other backseat, but hopefully the threat will make sure he doesn't even have to do that.
"Daddyyyyyy!" Delilah whines.
"Delilahhhhhhhh." Luke whines back. Delilah giggles but goes back to pouting.
"Play phone, Daddy. Pees?"
"No, daddy said no, besides, you haven't even been good."
Delilah releases a loud, high pitched, and continuous shriek and in response, Luke stomps on the breaks and then pulls over, and Delilah gasps.
"No daddy! Sowwy, baby sowwy!" She apologizes, and Luke smiles a bit, but turns around in his seat to face Delilah with a stern face.
"Delilah." He growls, and the little girl shrinks back.
"Sowwy Daddy. Good baby. Daddy's good baby." Luke smiles at the little girls innocent expression and nods.
"You're gonna be good? You know better than to scream just because you don't get what you want, little girl, especially when daddy is driving."
"Yes daddy. Sowwy. I sowwy. Good baby." Luke nods and turns back to the road to drive the next ten minutes to his mums house.
Delilah squeals when they pull into the driveway, unbuckling herself and running inside the house.
Luke chuckles and follows after the little girl, who's now in jacks arms and giggling as she copies whatever he says.
"Are you excited to meet all your daddy's family?"
"Awe you.... ettciiiteed... to me all er daddy's fammy." Delilah repeats.
"Look how good she's talking!" Liz exclaims, sitting on the couch and pulling the little girl into her lap.
"Look ow good she's tocking." Delilah giggles.
"Luke, your cousins will be here soon." Liz informs the smiling blonde.
"Luke!" Delilah exclaims, turning to her daddy.
"Oh?" Andrew chuckles.
"Ah, Yes, she discovered my real name." Luke chuckles, scooping up the little one.
"Se agapó." The little one turns to her daddy, and he smiles and says it back.
"What that mean?" Ben asks, sitting on the couch by his mum.
"I love you, in whatever language it is she speaks." Luke explains, soon interrupted by the door opening and a new group of people entering the house.
Delilah clings to the tall blonde, whining when he hands her off to Ben.
Luke exchanges hugs with all the family, as does jack and then Andrew and Liz, and Ben hands the little girl to Liz while he greets them, but she wiggles out of the woman's arms, embarrassed to be treated like a child in front of these new strangers.
Luke raises an eyebrow at her blush and unusually shy behavior, but before he can get to her and find out what's wrong, his cousin Claire is pulling him into conversation.
Delilah frowns when it seems the mans busy, deciding not to go to him to reassure himself, and instead watching the the man and the pretty blonde woman speak, smiling and laughing.
Liz is talking to another woman similar to her age, and Andrew is talking to a twenty some year old man.
Jack is also in conversation with a teenage boy, so Delilah wanders over to Ben, who's just finished a conversation.
"Hi, little one." He chuckles, picking the little girl up.
"No! Pees, no!" She whimpers, glancing around embarrassedly. "Down!"
"What's wrong, Delilah?" He frowns, setting her down and frowning as he searches her face. "Let's go see your daddy, yeah?"
"No!" She protests. He ignores her, picking her up and taking her over to the blonde man who's still talking to his beautiful blonde cousin.
"Hey there, babygirl." Luke smiles, trying to take the little girl from his brothers arms, but she wiggles to be put down. Luke frowns but complies, and before he can question her strange behavior, Claire interrupts.
"Who's this cutie?!" The blonde woman exclaims.
"Tell Claire your name, babe." Luke smiles down at the small girl, who shyly backs away and behind him. "Babe?" Delilah continues to stare at the ground.
"Um, this is delilah. Delilah, say hi to Claire." Luke frowns as the little one continues to hide behind him.
"Is... is she okay?" Claire frowns.
"Um, yeah, I think, but she's usually a lot more outgoing." Luke chuckles awkwardly.
Claire bends down and smiles at Delilah. "It's okay, hun. It's a little overwhelming, all these new people, huh?"
She reaches to delilah to set a comforting hand on her shoulder, and Delilah tenses up and steps back, hitting a wall.
"Delilah, come here baby." Luke frowns, trying to pick the little one up again, but she pushes his hands away, and awkwardly sidesteps until the two aren't blocking her against the wall, running to Liz, who's getting cookies out of the oven.
"What's wrong, Little one?" She asks when seeing the upset face and tears eyes, setting the cookies on the stove and picking the little girl up. Luke soon follows into the kitchen, petting his little girls back as she buries her face in her nanas neck.
Delilah turns around, checking to make sure there's no one else in the kitchen, before letting Luke take her and holding tightly to him.
"What's wrong, babydoll?" He asks. Delilah just shakes her head and cuddles closer to him in response.
"Safe." Delilah whimpers.
"Is this a little too much, princess?" He hums, frowning at the upset little girl. "All the people a little scary?" Delilah nods and lays little kisses on Luke's neck, and the blonde chuckles and returns the action, pecking Delilah's neck too.
"All da peele scawy." Delilah repeats him in a whisper.
"Claire really wanted to talk to you, baby? You think it's okay if she comes in? Just her, no one else."
"Daddy." Delilah whines shyly, holding onto Luke tighter.
"Daddy'll be right here, my princess. He can hold you and make sure you're all safe while you meet Claire, and maybe other people. They're all daddy's family, baby, I promise they're nice. No one scary."
A 12 year old girl bounds into the kitchen when she smells the cookies, and then smiles brightly at Luke and Delilah.
Instantly, Delilah whines and struggles to be put down, and Luke frowns but complies.
"Hi Luke!" The little girl greets.
"Hey sienna." Luke smiles, rubbing his babygirls shoulders comfortingly as she looks shyly to the pre teen.
"Who's this?" She asks, taking a seat at the table. Luke follows suit, pulling Delilah into his lap. Delilah seems embarrassed, but doesn't really protest.
"Can you tell sienna your name, love?" Luke quietly asks the black haired girl.
"D-delilah."
"That's a pretty name. I don't like my name. I wish mine were something prettier. Like, Amber, I wish my name was amber. That's a pretty name." Sienna rambles, then looks to delilah go a response.
"She doesn't speak much English, love." Luke chuckles, and Delilah frowns and looks at him.
He's calling other people her names? She's not really jealous, at this point, so much as confused.
"Why not? She's older than me."
"English isn't her first language, but She's learning." Luke explains.
"Sooooo... Who's she to you? Like, your sub or what?" The curious little girl asks.
"Well, Yes, Shes my little. You know what that is, right Sisi?"
"She has a younger headspace. She's not really acting like a little? Or is she just shy?"
"Normally she's much more outgoing, but I think with all these new people are making her a little scared. Seems like she's a bit afraid to act little tonight." Luke explains, smiling down at the green eyes looking up at him.
"Well, how do you tell her to not be afraid?" Sienna asks.
"You just tell her." Luke laughs.
"She'll understand?" Sienna frowns. If she doesn't know english how can she understand what you tell her?
"She understands English, for the most part, she just can't speak it very well. She likes to copy what people say, though."
"Well, Delilah," the 12 year old catches the littles attention. "You don't have to be scared or shy. Everyone is nice. Except my brother, he's a jerk, but he'll be nice to you still."
Delilah scoots back into her daddy's lap and smiles a bit. Luke chuckles at his little ones unusual behavior.
"You wanna help her learn some new words?" Luke asks, and sienna smiles brightly and nods her head.
"She's not learned all her colors yet. You wanna try and teach her a new color? She only knows blue, pink, and she might know purple. I'm not sure."
"Hmm." Sienna looks around the house for a recurring color in Liz's decoration.
"I wanna teach her... yellow. Aunt liz has quite a bit of yellow in her house." Sienna decides, then turns to delilah and pokes her arm to get her attention away from playing with Luke's hand.
Luke watches with an amused smile.
"Delilah, say 'yellow'." Sienna orders with an excited smile. Delilah raises an eyebrow and looks to like, who nods.
"Do what she said." He encourages.
"Say 'yellow'." The brunette girl repeats.
"Y-yyelllow?" Delilah drags the word out. Sienna nods and smiles.
"Yellow." Sienna says again.
"Yellow." Delilah smiles back at siennas happy grin.
"I taught her it!" Sienna looks to Luke with an accomplished pride.
"Well, she knows how to say it now, but you have to show her what it means." Luke chuckles as he explains. "Or she'll just forget it cause it makes no sense."
"Oh. Well, come on, Delilah." She grabs Delilah's hand and drags her off Luke's lap, and Delilah looks to Luke for reassurance as the little girl drags her away.
"Yellow." Sienna says as she points to a woman wearing a yellow dress in a painting.
"Yellow." Delilah repeats, looking curiously at what sienna pointed to before she's dragged somewhere else.
"That's yellow too." Sienna points to a blanket thrown over the couch, and a few adults watch in amusement as Delilah nods and repeats the word before sienna drags her to another yellow decoration item and tells Delilah it's yellow again.
They make their way about the house, and eventually it's sienna following Delilah around as Delilah India and points out everything that's yellow, giggling when sienna tells her she's right, until they end up back at Luke's side, who's back to talking to Claire.
"There She is!" Claire exclaims happily as the two come to Luke's side. "Seems like she's feeling a bit better now." Claire notices, and Luke smiles and nods.
"I'm pretty sure she knows what yellow means now." Sienna nods confidently, and the two adults chuckle.
"Delilah, tell daddy, what's yellow?" Delilah smiles before glancing about and pointing to Claire's purse that's over her shoulder.
"Yellow, Daddy."
"Good job, babygirl." And good job, Sienna." Luke congratulates the two, picking a more compliant Delilah up.
"Did you teach her that, sisi?" Claire asks, and sienna proudly explains to her how she went about teaching Delilah the new word.
"How is daddy's little girl feeling now, sweet girl? Are you feeling good now?" Luke asks quietly.
"Good, Daddy. Baby good." Delilah smiles.
"Good. Are you ready to meet some more people now? They already like you, and they reallllllyyyy wanna talk to you." Luke coaxes, and Delilah shyly nods in agreement. Sienna runs off to talk to someone else and Luke looks to Claire.
"Alright, Claire, I think Delilah wants to meet now." Luke chuckles, and the blonde woman turns her attention back to delilah with a warm smile.
"Hello, sweetheart. I'm Claire." She takes Delilah's hand and shakes it and Delilah smiles shyly.
"Can you say 'hi aunt claire'?" Luke whispers.
"H-hi aunt care." Delilah repeats. Claire smiles brightly.
"Such a cutie!" She exclaims, and Luke chuckles.
"Tell aunt Claire your name, baby. Say 'I'm Delilah'."
"Immm Delilah." Delilah mumbles.
"Nice to meet you, Delilah." Claire says, and for some reason delilah just does not care for this woman. She looks her over as she clings tighter to the broad blonde man holding her.
"Say it back, babygirl."
Delilah shakes her head in response.
The two blonde adults continue talking for awhile as Delilah frowns and tries to find a reason not to like this woman.
This woman is nice, and she really doesn't have a reason to dislike her. Still, she does.
Maybe that's it. Maybe she's TOO nice. Too nice to daddy. And only Daddy.
Why doesn't she go talk to someone else?
"Daddy!" Delilah interrupts, and Luke hurries to his baby's attention to figure out what's wrong.
"Go." Delilah points to a group of people talking somewhere away from Claire.
"You can go, baby. Why don't you go try to meet some more people, hm?" He sets his little one on the ground and she whines as he goes back to talking to Claire.
"No! Daddy!" She whines, tugging on Luke's shirt.
"Shh, don't do that, baby." Luke scolds. "What do you want, sweetheart?"
"Go!" Delilah points. Luke sighs and chuckles.
"I guess she wants me to come. I'll talk to you later, care." Luke jokes, and picks his baby up again before walking to a new group to help Delilah introduce herself.
Claire seems unpleased about the conversation coming to an end, but she quickly finds someone else to talk to as well.
It doesn't take long before everyone in the house has met the little girl, and they all love her, but she's overwhelmed and frankly exhausted, so she lays on her daddy as he continues to talk to people, eventually falling asleep in his arms.
