Cptr. 2

A/n: I've chosen that I will write this book just for funzies, I have a plot picked that I like and I'm not gonna stress about it and want to keep it light to some extent.

Also the 'sonic x reader' thing might just end up as a 'sonic + reader' friendship, I'm 100% sure there will be romantic stuff, but we'll see if it gets to a believable romance or just a pair of cool dudes hanging out who sometimes hug too long. It depends on how I feel about everything.

Thank u ;)

I thought that dart was lethal, I honestly didn't expect to wake up, especially when it felt like I'd been out for a year. So imagine my surprise when the darkness of unconsciousness wasn't the last thing I experienced.

There was a faint, far away voice. It sounded nervous. It didn't seem to be saying anything of substance to anyone, maybe it was talking to me?

I followed it like a lifeline in a dark ocean, trying to find the surface.

The closer it was the lighter my consciousness seemed to get. The light around me started to register behind my eyelids as life began to resurface. I could smell a faint smell of freshly made bread, a hard table against my back but my head pillowed, birds singing happily outside an opened window.

This was one of the most pleasant wake ups I've had in a while.

I was completely conscious at this point and it sounded like the voice had vanished. So I may have a chance to make a break for it.

Timidly, I cracked open my eyes slightly to investigate my surroundings, and it was vastly different compared to what I had last experienced.

I seemed to be lying on a kitchen table that sat maybe five feet from the nearest window, which was conveniently open. I looked back towards the rest of the room to see a modestly set up kitchen that looked rather familiar to how kitchens were on my Earth, the only real difference is the fact that everything seems to be scaled down a size or two.

All the counters were thick slabs of carved wood like the table beneath me. There was a stove with steaming bread sitting on top and a fridge with a multitude of photos stuck to it. At the far end of the room was an archway to the rest of the house where I could hear more hushed talking.

It felt homey, welcoming even. But I wasn't about to chance it so, cautiously, I slipped off the table to my feet and sped to the window. I tried to yank it up farther but it wouldn't budge.

What the hell?

I examined the window pane and found nails and screws drilled into it as to keep the window from opening more.

I— what??!

I yanked a few more times and managed to get a few nails to start to shake loose. But it was too little too late. The talking had stopped suddenly, making me pause in place for a dead moment before running back to the table and hopping back on to pretend nothing happened.

Lucky I did because right as I shut my eyes, footsteps poured into the room.

"I have no idea where it came from, it was just on the ground outside." A high, pitchy voice exclaimed. It was strangely similar to the mumbling that led me back to consciousness.

"It looks a lot like Eggman huh?" A new, more masculine voice said as the group walked over and stood around me.

"Yeah, and if it's anything like Eggman then we're lucky Sonic sedated it when he did." The first feminine voice chimes in.

"Yeah well, it was charging at Tails." Someone said in a vaguely relaxed tone in comparison to the rest. "I had to do something."

A quiet few seconds passed and I could practically feel their prying eyes all over me. "So... what do we do now? Wait for it to wake up?"

"Well... we shouldn't chance it. We're lucky enough that it hasn't woke up yet, we should set up some security while we can." The same masculine voice said.

Security?...

I feel my legs itching to run, my hands pleaded to be thrown. But the cold lump of fear inside my stomach was heavy and pinned me where I lay, freezing my body, not budging an inch.

The memory of pulling the dart from my neck made the tips of my toes tingle unpleasantly. I had no idea how that dart ended up in my neck and I didn't want to find out, honestly it felt like being alive right now was solely depending on luck.

"So what? So we can keep it here?! We already locked ourselves in the house with it!" The feminine voice seemed a bit exasperated with the gravelly one. "What else do you think we should do? Strap our legs to theirs?"

A few steps walked around me to the side with the window, quiet for a moment, possibly inspecting me or the loosening window nails, hopefully not the latter. "Then do you think we should let it loose, Amy?"

The girly voice of Amy responded. "Definitely not, I just think that it might be smarter not to trap us in the same area as it. We have no idea what we're in for here." She said, a bit gentler then before as she walked over to the presence by the window. "We shouldn't underestimate it, Sonic."

The young, squeaky voice then spoke up again. "Amy's right. The tech it was trying to protect was extremely advanced, it'll take me a while to figure out what it is and a lot longer to even attempt to fix it."

Fix it..

My heart stopped momentarily at this. The jumper was broken, I was stuck in this Earth which meant I was as good as dead unless this person was willing to repair the damage for me.

Leaving without it wasn't an option. So I could either steal it back and die because I could never in a million years figure out how it works, or, get this dude to try and fix it for me. It wasn't likely that anybody but a genius could fix it, but it's better odds than me trying to figure it out on my own.

Looks like I'm making friends now.

My eyes quickly open. "It's called a Jumper."

They all collectively screamed.

A yellow fox that stood close yelped, hightailing it out of the room at the same time a pink, speceially ambiguous thing raised a giant hammer overhead, winding up for a deadly blow. I didn't even have time to think before my body rolled out of the way, landing ribs first onto the floor like a star fish, missing the hammer that violently cracks against the table by a fraction of a second.

"Amy!" The angry voice snapped.

"What?! It scared me!" She defended herself with an equal amount of fire.

Meanwhile, I tried to steal my breath back, coughing and clawing at the floor. Air was suddenly hard to come by and pushing myself back up was even worse now that my arms felt about as strong as dry noodles.

Stabbing pain weakened my body significantly, luckily an arm wrapped itself under my right arm and helped me to my feet. "Do you seriously think this could hurt us in the condition it's in?" The gruff one asked while easily raising me up.

I groaned pathetically and grabbed the table with my free hand, hoisting myself up the rest of the way.

Amy frowned and crossed her arms, tilting her chin up in another direction, closing her eyes. "It's never a bad idea to stay on guard, Knuckles."

I didn't pay much attention to what they were chattering about since the distractingly intense stinging of my ribs claimed all my attention. I leaned against the table which was now intimidatingly broken, every carved plank was tilting down towards a large mallet sized hole in the table.

I did my best to ignore that near death experience And opted to focus on keeping my spine as straight as possible, scrunching my tearing up eyes in pain. My breath was ragged and pushed out almost exclusively in grunts.

"Do— where's my jumper?" I forced out, pointing at my empty chest plate. I cracked open my eyes at the red animal known as Knuckles, who was a good foot shorter than me.

He tilted his head with a frown, staring at my chest. "Uh..." He looked away quickly, rubbing his mitten hand against his chin. "Y-Yeah, don't worry we have it."

A sudden surge of hope flooded me at the simple statement, it was such a positive feeling that my mind went a step farther and started to assume that it might not even be broken!

I smiled down at him. "Where—? Where is it?!"

He frowned a little and stood in front of me, blocking my path out of the room while noticeably puffing up his chest and showcasing his fist nipples by casually crossing his arms. All in means to look intimidating. "That's none of your business." He grunted.

I stared down at him, taking in the fact that he could probably be easily overpowered. My expression dropped from hopeful to barely amused. "...right." I huffed before sidestepping the little man.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." A new voice commented.

I turned every which way until my eyes landed on a blue hedgehog sitting on a large window sill off in in the corner.

A familiarity clicked within my head. He was the last thing I saw before I lost consciousness last night. He held a certain smugness in his voice, and I knew I didn't like him.

After a moment of reacquainting myself with him I opted to ignore him with a blend of spite and impatience. I had a piece of technology to get back.

However I didn't get far because after a few steps a strong grip completely encased my bicep. Before I could really think at all, I was tossed like a rag doll overtop the red animal man and slammed back on top of the table.

The air was once again forced out of my body, as I was sure my ribs would be shattered at this point.

I opened my mouth to scream, but no sound could come out, so I tried to pull in a breath. Still nothing. I lifted my chin, trying to create a straight shot for any bit of oxygen to flow into my lungs. Unfortunately, only after five seconds of this familiar torture could I pull in a healthy amount of air.

My eyes landed on the blue hedgehog again who was giving me an unimpressed look. "Oh come on, I warned you too." He said shaking his head with a small smirk as he hopped off his warm ledge, taking some paces forward.

Amy sighed, more at ease with me being back on the table. "We just have to make sure of something." She turned to the rest of the... animal things..? "Does anyone have a picture of Eggman?" She asked, loud enough for the fox who ran away to hear.

After a moment of everyone looking at each other and shrugging or shaking their head, a small voice from the other room spoke up. "..yeah..." He said, and after a moment the two-tailed fox timidly walked out with some type of tablet thing.

"Thanks Tails." Amy said kindly, rounding the table and taking the tech the fox was holding out to her. "Here, take a look at this and tell us why you are so similar to him."

She shoved a picture of a large, round man perched atop two sticks of legs into my face. There was a huge moustache sprouting loudly from his tiny face, under his larger than usual nose. I wonder if a human could actually have a nose that Gru-like.

"And... You think I look like this old man?" I confirmed, looking from the tablet to Amy.

Tails suddenly snatched his tablet back and began to ramble. "Well, no, but your DNA is almost identical to his as well as your physiology being practically identical, y'know, aside from a few reproductive organs."

"Okay, so he's human too... what's the big deal?" I asked, attempting to sit up, only to be pushed back down by red boy.

"Well, the big deal is that you are the only other... Uh, 'Human' as you call it... on this planet aside from him. And so far, humans are the biggest jerks I've ever come across." Blue boy said leaning his elbow on the table next to you, nonchalantly, crushing his hand into a fist.

"...uh huh..." You slowly looked around at them all, casually looking for a way out if you might need one. "...so, because he's evil, that inherently means I am too?"

The blue hedgehog took a moment to think before he chuckled and shrugged. "Well, for hedgehogs the females are usually the more evil ones, right Ames?"

This coaxed a crazy-eyed glare from the pink... hedgehog? Her cheeks puffed up, as if holding back a few choice words.

Her eyes burned with the fury of a thousand suns within her gradually settling stink eye while she let out the air in her cheeks in a calming breath.

A tiny, strained smirk quirked the corner of her mouth. "Right, and the males are usually egotistical idiots." She spat, placing her hands on her hips.

The blue hedgehog's ears fell back as he too gasped, grasping his chest as if having a heart attack. "A-Amy, you've finally done it. You've... you've killed me." And he fell to the floor on his hands and knees, before tipping to his side and curling into a tight ball.

"Well, it's about time I'd say." She stated confidently, letting him lay fully on the floor for a few moments longer.

Feeling about fed up with all this, I decided I should try to get them to let me go. "So, um, I'm not evil. If that's what you wanted to know." I piped up.

"Well, sure you aren't! You're just a human who is super teched up like our nemesis always is." The angry red 'Knuckles' guy stated with a huff.

I hummed, scratching my chin lightly in thought. "Okay, well... how am I supposed to convince you that I'm not your nemesis?" My eyes traveled between them all, except the blue guy, who was still out on the floor.

"You could start with your name." His voice said from on the floor beside the table.

I turned my head towards him despite not being able to actually see him. "What would that do?"

Blue guy peeked up from the floor, turning to lay on his side with his big head propped up in his palm. "Well, It's just something we use to know who's who." He explained in a nearly condescending manner through an amused tone.

I blinked a few times before swallowing my pride and turning my head back to stare at the ceiling, my hand fell from my face to rest on my stomach. "My name's Y/n."

"Ah, good to meet you, I'm Sonic. So Y/n, why are you in such a hurry?" He asked standing up fully and placing his hands on his hips. "Y'know, aside from Amy's poor hospitality."

"I— Uh..." I hesitated. I've never really talked about what had happened to put me on the run in the first place, everything since I was chased out of my Earth had been so isolated and fast paced.

"Ohh... the mysterious type huh?" He commented, nodding with a hand now on his chin like a wise old wizard master.

"No. I mean, I don't think so... I don't know..." I was genuinely at a loss for words, trying to quickly weigh my options.

Unfortunately, this guy wasn't the waiting type it seemed.

"Okay, you don't have to get into detail," Sonic jumped up from the floor and sat on the side of the table, as if he were some type of parental figure asking their child what was wrong. "Just give us the cut and dry version."

He didn't seem at all threatened by me the way the rest were.

"Erm... okay, well. In short I'm on the run because I stole this suit, and if the people who are chasing me catch up, they'll definitely just..." I ran my finger tips across my neck quickly. "...kill me."

"Hmm," A sudden gust of blue wind ripped through the kitchen and this little hedgehog guy was now sitting on the other side of me, but now holding a pen and note pad in his hands with a pair of pink cat eye glasses resting at the tip of his nose. "Okay, so, how killed are we talking here? Like putting you in jail? You're just very dazed and confused? Actually dead? What? Paint me a picture." He asked, crossing one leg over the other.

A shocked expression painted Amy's face for only second before it morphed back into an enraged snarl. "Hey—! Are those my glasses?! I've been looking everywhere for those!" She was about to step up to blue boy, but Knuckles held her back.

I almost couldn't believe how easily he was taking this in stride. It kinda lifted my worries a bit while simultaneously making me feel like a drama queen... Was this a form of gaslighting?

"Uh, no I'd say they kill me and leave no trace of me ever existing. Like, at least three bullets in the brain, if not more. Complete heart stoppage, cold blooded, killing me like an animal." I responded, slowly perching myself up on my elbows. It was hard to tell if this conversation was going well or not.

He was taken aback momentarily. "Oh... You mean, like, actually killed."

I nodded solemnly, welcoming a quiet to settle over the room. A much needed moment of pause as they all exchanged wary and troubled glances amongst themselves.

A cool lick of urgency waned up my spine as each second ticked by, closing the distance between me and my predators. "So as you can see," I pushed myself up into a sitting position meeting no resistance this time. "I'm on a bit of a tight schedule."

The two tailed fox's fur puffed up. "How long until they get here?" He faltered nervously as he spoke.

His words sent a jolt of bubbling anxiety deep into my stomach until words bubbled up uncomfortably. "There's no way of knowing with the jumper offline, unless you guys have inter-dimensional tracking devices." I swung my legs off the side of the table, clutching the edge of it. "I've been much faster than them, probably at least five earths ahead as of last night. But it doesn't take much for them to catch up when I'm a stationary target. They realistically could show up at any time." I stood up from the table, but made sure to not make a move from here unless indicated it was okay to do so. I didn't want another run in with Amy's death hammer.

The bunch of of them quickly started to absorb the information. "You wanna get out of this world pretty quick then, huh?" Sonic clarified.

"Very much so, yes." The desperate eagerness overflowed as I stared down his big green eyes.

He hummed to himself before turning to Tails. "Well Tails, looks like we have some work to do." He glanced back and beckoned me to follow with a determined grin on his face. "Let's get to work!"
