Chapter 7
“Good morning, mother, father!” Lucy chirped, taking a bite onto her sandwich.
“Morning, Lucy. You seem to be in a good mood. Care to share?”
“No, mom. I just had a nice dream. Besides, I’ll be late for school." She skipped to the living room to get her bag but came to a halt when she saw a salmon-haired boy, sitting with a weird aura around him. “What the. What the heck is Natsu Dragneel doing in our house!?” She screamed.
“Good morning, honey.” He waved, smirking at the blond beauty.
“Honey your face. What are you doing here?”
“Visiting you. Why? You’re my girlfriend, right? So there’s nothing wrong with me calling you honey or any kind of endearment.”
Lucy rolled her eyes. “No need for endearments. Anyways, you’re gonna take me to school?”
“Don’t state the palpable.”
“Right,” she huffed.
“Oh! So you’ve talked to her already!” they both saw Lucy’s mom walking towards them. “Lucy, I forgot to tell you, but today is Saturday. A weekend. There is no such thing called school for today. And one more thing. You’re not going to school wearing slippers and a night gown, right? Plus, you look like someone who never took a bath. Dry saliva, munchkins.” Lucy gasped in horror as she frantically ran to the bathroom. She was so pumped up about yesterday that she forgot that today was a weekend. She felt so ashamed. Natsu might’ve seen her dry saliva and messy bed hair and is now laughing his a** off.
“That was hilarious. I wish I took a picture of you! Dry saliva and messy bed hair version of Lucy Heartfilia. That would be a big hit!” he cackled after Lucy got out of the bathroom. The girl was now dressed in casual clothes, frowning at him. They were walking outside their house.
“It’s not funny, you know. I was just excited for today, is all.” she grumbled, looking down at her feet. She smiled at the memory of yesterday. She felt so gleeful when she remembered Gray. Though the mention of Juvia was what ruined the moment, at least she got the time to be alone with him.
“One moment you’re annoyed. The next you’re smiling? Creepy. Stop smiling like a sunfish.”
Lucy punched him hard, “You always ruin the moment. I hate you.”
“Oh, yeah? You’re my girlfriend and you hate me?” he chuckled. A moment later, he turned very serious that made Lucy shudder. “What moment, huh?” the seriousness in his voice was clear and intense. Lucy had goosebumps. It’s like, she was cheating on him. ‘Wait. He’s just a boyfriend of mine that’ll be my ex soon, right? It’s not like I’m cheating on him. I mean, he’s cheating on many girls too. I’m breaking his heart soon, aren’t I? There’s no need to consider things about this matter.’ she pondered.
“I’m kidding. I know it’s about me. The moment with me. Ha-ha-ha-ha!” he laughed in a strange way. The smile in his lips were telling her otherwise. She shrugged it off.
“Oh, puh-lease. Dream on. Me? Thinking about you? Yeah. Go to a story book and you’ll state a fact.” she scoffed, rolling her eyes. Natsu just chuckled, which Lucy found very weird.
“You’re very interesting, Heart—whatever your surname is.”
“It’s Heartfilia!” she informed with sheer disdain. “Anyways, why are you at our house on a weekend? Mostly, how did you know my address!? Are you stalking me?!”
“Woah woah. Chill. One question at a time.” he chuckled, overly joyous. “First, is it wrong to visit my girlfriend? I’m thinking about taking you on a date. Second, I have my ways about your informations. Hello, I’m your boyfriend. I must know everything about you. Lastly, I’m not a stalker. Just an admirer.” he winked, while Lucy just rolled her eyes.
“Stop it. I’m not gonna go with you on a date. Ever.”
“You can’t stop me now. I already told your mother about this.” he snickered, making Lucy agree even if it’s against her will.
“Whatever. Where are we going? Don’t tell me it’s on the movies. It’s my first time going on a date with anyone. I don’t want those kinds of ordinary dates. I want it to be extraordinary and unforgettable.” she knew it was like she was choosy, but she didn’t care. “You know what kind of relationship we have, right? So don’t think of this as a date where we will hold hands, hug, you know those kinds of stuff.” she added.
“Ohoho. That is not considered a date if there will be no physical contact indicated, my dear Lucy.”
“Yuck. Don’t call me ‘My Dear Lucy.’ You don’t own me. And didn’t I tell you that there must be no endearments?”
“I can call you what I want, Fluttershy.”
“Oh dear Happy. Are you mocking me, Pinky Pie?”
“What the. Not that nickname again!”
“You don’t want me to call you Pinky Pie? Then stop with the endearments.”
“‘Kay fine. Feisty.” he grumbled with a disconcerted look.
“Good. On serious note, where are we going?”
“You’ll find out later.” he turned cheerful once again and dragged Lucy to a place where the blond beauty dreaded to go.
“A salon!? I’m outta here. Date with yourself, Pinky Pie. I’m leaving.”
Natsu gripped Lucy's hand firmly, "Nope. You're not going anywhere. I paid for the expenses here already."
"I can do what I want."
"But I already paid!!"
"I don't care. Get a refund."
"Argh. Just.. go. Or else..."
"Or else what?"
"I'm calling your mother and I will her to make you grounded."
"You have my mother's number?! Seriously?"
"Yeah. Seriously. Now will you go or will you go?"
"What kind of choices—"
"Quick. I'm dialing it!"
"Alright! Alright! Tsk." she obliged to the pink haired boy's orders and went inside the curtain where Natsu's mission for that day will begin. Mission Make Lucy Look Girly. (A/N: Heh. I like rhyming words.)
After two hours of long waiting, a blond girl in fuschia dress came out of the room. Her dress was a balloon dress that reaches her knees and has flame patterns all around it. She wears a pearl necklace and her hair was tied up in a messy ponytail. The brown boots gave her the rock and roll kind of look. She had blue eyeshadow, a light pink blush on, and a red lipstick. The girl? It's Lucy Heartfilia.
Natsu closed the magazine he was reading, eyeing the now blushing and self-conscious girl in front of him. She shifted uncomfortably under his intense, astonished gaze.
"Hi, miss. Who are you?" Natsu queried, intrigue and wonder obvious in his voice. Clearly, he didn't recognize Lucy in her state.
The blond beauty smacked his head in annoyance, "Idiot. Lucy Heartfilia. What are you planning to do, making me dress like a girl!? This is embarassing. It's cold. I want my shirt and baggy jeans back." she ranted, crossing her arms. Natsu was still processing the fact that the girl standing in front of him was Lucy Heartfilia, his current (and maybe temporary) girlfriend. His boyish girlfriend who is now wearing a fuschia dress. His gorgeous girlfriend.
"Hey! Quit staring! Look, if you think that this doesn't suit me, then let me change—"
"No. I'm fine with just the way you are right now." Natsu said, shaking his head as a sign of disagreement.
"Ugh. And why are you wearing a tux? Care to explain?"
Natsu cleared his throat and gave Lucy a teasing smirk. "This is a date. But we're going to a party."
"Don't get me started with that. I hate parties. I never attend one."
"But you have to attend one because I told you to. Remember, I can always call your mom and—"
"Ugh! You're such a jerk, blackmailing me."
"Heh." he grabbed Lucy's hand and they went to a party full of drunk and conversing people. Some were even dancing the day out. Lucy was so irritated that she glared at every people she passed by. Natsu was saying sorry to the people.
"Why don't you like parties? And why do you keep on glaring at people like you're gonna kill them?"
"Because I hate parties. I hate noisy people. I hate drunkards. I hate alcohol. I'm not a party girl. Why drag me into this?"
"I want you to have fun and learn to socialize with different kinds of people."
"But as you can see, I don't want to. Who owns this party anyway?" Natsu, as a reply, just smiled slyly. But something about his smile seemed off to Lucy that made her wonder. Sadness? Doubt? She didn't know. She never pushed the topic and instead, she looked for food. Natsu trailed behind her silently.
"Ah! There you are, steak!" Lucy ecstatically exclaimed and put a slice of steak into her plate. She looked for a table and when she found one, she ran and sat quickly.
"Your favorite food is steak?" Natsu asked, watching Lucy as she gobbled down her food. She nodded, her eyes glimmering with gluttony. "Careful. You might get fatter." Lucy immediately stopped eating and shot daggers at Natsu.
"So you mean, you're telling me I'm fat? You want your life to end with a stab by a fork?"
Natsu raised his hands in defeat. "Wow. You're really gonna stab me. Chill."
Lucy calmed down and went back to eating. Natsu continued watching her with an undecipherable expression. Lucy felt conscious all of a sudden as to why Natsu was staring at her. "Do I have a dirt on my face?"
Natsu shook his head, smiling. "You really are something."
"What are you talking about?"
"Never mind. Come, let's dance."
"What!? I don't dance, sorry."
"You have to, Fluttershy."
"Ugh. Stop with the name-calling!"
"I won't, My Blond Girlfriend."
"I will finish my steak."
"You don't have to!" And Natsu danced with Lucy. It was a slow dance.
Lucy's arms were wrapped around Natsu's neck, while Natsu's arms were wrapped around Lucy's waist. Lucy felt really awkward. Their faces were an inch close, and their noses were in contact. When the song finished, the party finished as well.
"Let's go home." She nudged Natsu uncomfortably.
Lucy dragged Natsu to the venue's main entrance when a man with red hair came, smiling. "Happy Birthday, Natsu! Thank you for inviting me on this party!
Oh. So it's his birthday today. And this is his party.
