Chapter 3

[Nobody’s POV]

Turns out my little hypothesis was correct. The night before the pinkette and the blond texted each other, and after a few more minutes of forcing it out of him, he admitted that he was Natsu Dragneel, the one and only. He told her that they should forget about the past and not be awkward again since it’s been a year, not to mention that he’s moved on already. It’s not that big of a deal, Lucy told herself and didn’t turn down his offer.

Although she agreed, she felt... something. Gloomy feeling, a cheerful one... it’s a little complicated to begin with. Trying to shake away those emotions, the blond girl curled up in her bed. She calmed herself down. “They say that I’m a tomboy, I eat like a pig and I’ve got attitude. But hey, I’m still a girl. Wish they knew that. The only reason I’m like that is because of defense. Boys right now aren’t trustworthy compared to back then.”

A light breath came out of her lungs. “Sad thing is... I think I like him.” The realization hit her like a flying brick, her face turning red and hot. “I did not just say that out loud.”

“You just did, honey.”

“Mom—”

“Go talk to him.”

♠♣

Lunch time at school.

Many people had already gone off to the school canteen but Lucy had insisted that she’d stay... with Natsu. They were alone at that empty classroom, not silent but noisy. Talking about random things, Lucy couldn’t bring herself to start talking about that topic.

Natsu kept laughing about something he himself experienced, and Lucy however just looked at him for a second. She wasn’t listening to what he was saying this whole time, anxious about her true objective.

She cleared her throat. “Natsu. I wanted to talk to you about something that’s why I called you here.” The atmosphere turned serious as Natsu kept quiet, ready to listen to the blond. “It’s about...”

“Us.” Natsu finished for her.

Lucy nodded awkwardly, biting her tongue. “Yeah. I wanted to have a proper closure—”

“Lucy, you told me that you were just playing with my feelings because you wanted me to learn my lesson. Your mission was to break my heart. The relationship wasn’t that serious for you. It’s all for Lisanna, right? She told me everything. Now, I’m fine. I’m back to my old self. So why are you saying that you wanted to have a proper closure?”

Because I like you? She didn’t have the chance to say anything. “It’s okay Lucy. I forgive you for that. I’ve moved on.”

That statement felt like she just fell on a hole. In a choked voice, Lucy mumbled, “O-Okay. I-I just thought that I sh-should apologize because what I did was real bad. Well uh, see you around.”

She expected Natsu to come after her but nothing came.

“You know...”

“You’re feeling down.” Levy stated blankly. Lucy avoided her intense and somewhat prying gaze. “Are your grades down?” Sometimes, her friend is a little dense... probably denser than Natsu. She stifled a laugh.

“Thanks for the concern, but that’s not the case. Levy, I like Natsu.”

“I know.” Levy answered nonchalantly. “You were too dense. Your best friend knows you better than yourself. I mean wait... maybe you’re not dense, it’s just that, you were too afraid to admit it to yourself. You’re not a dude but... duuude, like what the heck, I’ve realized that a long time ago, I even told you so but you won’t believe me. Took you long enough to admit it.”

“What?” Was all Lucy could utter.

“You’re regretting it now, aren’t you?” Levy asked in a hushed voice. The blond girl bowed down in an attempt to hide her disappointed frown. “I don’t know if Natsu has moved on from you completely, but judging from your reaction, I guess he did. Look—”

“You don’t have to rub salt in the wound.” Lucy interjected. “My heart, soul, mind, heck my whole body knows that he’s moved on already. He said it right in front of my face, and even told me that I should move on too because he’s back to his old self.”

“Then why not try chasing him this time?” Lucy rolled her eyes, telling Levy “It’s not gonna work now”. “Do I have to slap you so you’d wake up? I’m already erasing what I had told you earlier. There’s this something whispering in me that he has not yet moved on from you. Again, I’m telling you. Heal His Heart. If back then he was the one chasing you, then now, it’s your time to chase him. That’s what you get for being so rude. Bear with the consequences.”

“Levy, he’s moved on—”

“He’s not. Trust my instincts. Because honestly, he wouldn’t text his “ex” if he’s moved on from you.” How the heck did she know about that?! “If it means that I’ll have to push you harshly just so you’ll do what I say, I’ll do it.”

She was the most supportive friend I’ll ever have.

♠♣

“Okay, act plan number P.”

Lucy knitted her eyebrows, plopping down on her bed. “You do know that P isn’t a number, right? And you do know that I’m a human and I need a rest.”

“Whatever, desperate blond. Get up and work!”

“I am not a desperate blond!” Lucy gasped. “You were the one who forced me to do this.”

“But you wanted to and you need to. Don’t you want your prince charming back?”

“Prince charming? Like seriously Levy?”

“Like seriously Lucy. So maybe we made too many plans. Let’s cancel out the others and you now start plan B.”

“Not plan A?”

“That plan makes no sense. Now go over to his house.”

Lucy scratched the side of her head. “Honestly, I don’t remember his address. I’ve been to his house only once, so don’t be so surprised. His mansion is very big, and when I say big, it’s—”

“You know, the way you say big kinda disgusts me. But have no worries because here is his address. Everybody in school knows about it and you’re probably the only one who doesn’t know. I go to his massive parties he throws back then every weekend. Of course you wouldn’t know because you always say: “It’s boring.” and you end up curling up in your igloo.”

“A very precise way to describe me.” Lucy answered, grabbing the slip of paper from Levy. “But thanks. I’ll go now.”

“Break a leg!”

Lucy soon stood in front of the familiar mansion. The gates were too high for her to climb on, and she was wearing a skirt so that was crossed out of her options. Having no choice, she rung the doorbell and waited for a guard or a maid to come out.

A few seconds later, no one came out of the mansion. “Dammit, it’s too cold tonight for me to be waiting here. Why can’t they open the damn door already? It’s not like they haven’t seen me before.”

She rung the doorbell multiple times that it probably pissed off the one inside the house. She tapped her foot on the grass she was stepping on, rolling her eyes as each three seconds passed by. “What the f*ck. If they don’t open this I’m gonna have to bang on their gates real hard that it’ll break down.”

A maid opened the door and glared at her. “What do you need?” What a rude maid. Even crankier than me, huh?

“I need Natsu Dragneel.” She demanded impatiently.

The maid rolled her eyes. The nerve! This maid is in Natsu’s house, and maybe Natsu is in this state sometimes that she’s infected too. “Unaware? He’s in Singapore, and he won’t be coming back.”

All the plans with Levy are crossed out the list.
