"Shut up. I just care about you. I'm worried about your safety."
-Natsu Dragneel

Gray draped his arms around Juvia which made Lucy's heart sank. "Hey there, beautiful!" He had been courting Juvia since last week, but Lucy had heard this news just three days ago. "You finished lunch?"
And Juvia liked him too. "Uhm, yeah." It hurt her a lot, but she managed to let everyone know that she was okay. Wendy, Juvia, and Gray believed it, but Levy didn't. She knew it was all an act.
"Shall we go to the library?" Gray offered with a smile. Juvia nodded and left the table without another word.
Levy shook her head at Lucy. "So, I guess it's us left again."
"Don't forget me!" Lisanna popped out of nowhere. "Sorry I haven't been with you guys lately. How's life?" Her smile seemed somewhat fake to Lucy. The blond girl just shrugged it off, for maybe it was just an illusion.
Wendy grunted, "Calculus is making me die, as always." Her displeased expression made everyone in the table laugh.
"Really? I guess I'm not the only one." Levy joked. She wanted to tease Wendy, for Levy excelled in Calculus. Wendy frowned and turned to Lucy and Lisanna.
"I've got something to do. I've got to help Erza in the Student Council room with the papers. I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow." She stood up.
Lucy flashed Wendy a smile of good luck. "I pity you. Erza is a monster, so I'm sure you're very uncomfortable with her." Wendy chuckled as she bid her goodbye.
"Oh no! I've got to run! My next class will start in a minute! Gotta run!" Lisanna ran away along with Levy. They've got the same class.
"Now I'm all alone." Lucy mumbled to herself. She didn't know if she'd be happy because there was no disturbance and noise now, or be sad because she looked like a loner.
Without further notice, a guy sat across her. "Hey." It was then that she noticed she wasn't alone anymore.
Again, she didn't know if she should be happy because she wasn't a loner anymore, or be sad because the guy that sat across her made her feel guilty. The guy? It's Natsu Dragneel. "... Hey." She greeted back ever so softly.
"Why are you alone?" Natsu asked just to have a conversation with her. "You musn't be alone at a time like this. You know, guys are lingering around."
Lucy found the courage to speak. "Wow, shame on you." She retorted. She found her statement laughable.
Natsu put on a serious face. "Shut up. I just care about you. I'm worried about your safety." That shut her up. Then again, she was speechless. The words in her mind left her; her brain was a complete blank.
The awkward silence perished once Professor Macao spoke. "Hey, you two. Your vacant period, huh. What are you doing here? Having a date?"
Lucy blushed profusely. "Professor! No, we're not dating. Natsu's just a companion of mine. He told me I looked like a loner." Natsu, although he was really hurt deep inside, smiled and nodded.
"I see." The professor didn't seem that convinced at Lucy's answer, but then shrugged it off. "I'll see you guys later." But then a moment later, he remembered something. "Oh, hey. Can I ask the both of you a favor?" Lucy became nervous of the favor that the Professor was about to ask.
Natsu replied respectfully for his and Lucy's sake. "Sure, sir. Fire away!"
"I need you two to be the temporary librarians later, after dismissal. That great with you two?" Professor Macao asked with a soft smile.
"Cool with it!" Natsu cheerfully grinned.
Professor Macao then turned to Lucy. Her face was showing only two expressions: reluctance and fear. She wasn't sure if she should say yes to the professor. It wasn't because of ghosts that she was scared, to tell everyone the truth. She was scared because she didn't want to be alone with Natsu.
Why was she going to be alone with Natsu? Well, the library was always deserted. Schools have library which is always occupied by nerds, but exclude the Fairy Academy. The library didn't have anyone in there—even teachers. It was because the library was too quiet that everyone tend to say anywhere but the library.
"Until what time are we going to guard the library?" Lucy almost stuttered.
"'Till 7 PM."
Lucy went pale. I can't be with him alone for that long.
The professor noticed this and tried to think of a way to make Lucy say "yes". "There are no ghosts there, that I can guarantee you." The professor stated while chuckling. "Another thing. You two will be exempted for the upcoming pop quiz." Lucy's ears perked up when she heard the words pop quiz. Professor Macao taught History, Lucy's most despised subject. She almost flunked that subject last school year.
Her skepticism was stopping her from saying yes. Well, Natsu was, too.
If she said yes, it'll give her advantages, but it'll also give her disadvantages.
Lucy gulped anxiously as she thought about her decision. If she said no, Natsu will get hurt. And she didn't want that. Professor Macao might be disappointed.
Finally, she heaved a heavy sigh. "I—"
"If you don't want to, it's okay. The two librarians just asked me if I could find a replacement for them while they were away for a meeting. I could always find someone who could be a replacement if you don't want to, Lucy."
Something in Lucy's guts made her say, "No, I'm sorry. I-I mean, yes. I'm agreeing." Lucy felt Natsu's stare on her, which made her hands sweaty.
"Oh!" The professor's eyes glimmered in delight. "That's really great! With that settled, I'm off. Toodles!" Professor Macao skipped away happily.
We're left alone... again.
"You wanna go?"
Lucy raised an eyebrow. "To where?"
"In my heart."
"Ye-wait what?" Lucy turned around, really bashful. That was..
"Was what?"
"Uh, no. You didn't hear me."
"Yes, I did. Tell me. What I said. What was it?" I want to say cheesy, but not enough to make me fangirl. Never am I saying it to you.
Then the bell rang. Saved by the bell. "I gotta go to my..." Last class. But I've got this feeling that I should never tell him, or else I'd be doomed. "... next class." Lucy breathed, trying to be calm.
"Last class, would you rather say?" Why the heck did he speak like a poet? And how did he know that it'd be my last class? "As your boyfriend, I have a duty to walk you home. See you."
As he walked away, the blond girl called out to him. "H-Hey, wait! How did you know that it's my last period?"
"Secret of Boyfriends. Oh, I've said the wrong thing. We're going to be librarians later." And Lucy was there with her mouth hung open.
She went to her last class which was Geometry, her favorite. But that was the only good thing about her day. She was worried about Natsu being with her later... again.
"Dude, the Chemistry project we've got. What are we going to do about it? The submission is tomorrow, and there are a lot of projects still lined up for us. You know how hard it is. When are we going to do it? Start doing it? I don't wanna fail, you know that. I want to rest already, like, forever. Stress would just never go away—"
Lucy rolled her eyes. "Stop ranting, Levy." Levy was with her this subject and they were seatmates. Probably one of the good things about her day. But with her babbling things about their project in Chemistry, she couldn't help but feel a lot worse. She hated it when someone implied she was a girl when in truth not. She hated it when she was called dude because of course she ain't a dude. "We'll talk about the taskings later and... you know what I mean the teacher is here so let's stop talking."
It was now Levy's turn to roll her eyes. She didn't like it when her bestfriend gets overexcited about something she thought absurd like her favorite subject Geometry. It was on purpose that she called Lucy "dude" so that she wouldn't be all smiles and wiggly in her seat. Of course, it was an epic fail.
The fact that everyone thought Lucy was a tomboy started when she was in freshmen. That time, she was obsessed with Gray already. But then some guy came up and almost told Gray her feelings. Good thing she had stopped him... in a physical (and brutal, might I tell you) way. She beat him up with the whole school as a witness, including Gray. And from that day on, Gray also thought she was a tomboy.
But someone stood out from the crowd.
And that guy is none other than Natsu Dragneel. When Natsu first saw Lucy, he was really annoyed and he liked to roll his eyes around her. But then how he saw her totally changed when she beat up that guy. He thought she was something-something extraordinary. And amazing.
"...so going back to the topic, it's very obvious that this is an adjacent angle and a supplementary angle, thus making it a linear pair. So you all know the theorems. Corresponding angles are congruent. Vertical angles and alternate interior/exterior angles are also congruent. And this one..." Levy watched the professor as he babbled about the lesson. Lucy nodded enthusiastically. Obviously, she understood the lesson. Not like Levy.
The class was finished when the bell rang, making Levy really relieved, her expression shouting: "Good, no geometry." She looked at Lucy who seemed anxious at the moment. "What are you so anxious about?"
"Natsu."
"Huh? What about him?"
"It's just that, you know, he's gonna walk me home."
"And what seems to be the problem with that? He's your boyfriend."
"Really, Levy?" Lucy rolled her eyes for the nth time. "Natsu is a somewhat obligatory boyfriend of mine. Someday, he'll fall for me, and I'll break his heart. But then things were going way too fast-he confessed to me."
"Oh my gosh, really?! That's just... when did he—"
"Uh, you don't need to know about that."
"Hey, I wanna know!"
"Lucy." Someone purred from the outside. There standing was Natsu, looking gorgeous as ever. Lucy found it weird for him to purr. It didn't sound like him at all.
"What do you want?"
"The library—"
"I'm going with Levy, sorry." She hauled Levy away from the place much to her protests. Levy pitied Natsu. She was just... so harsh at times.
