Chapter 14
"What the hell was Alex thinking?" Kelly asked as she paced the Tower nervously as she, Kara, Mon-El, J'onn, Winn and Lena in the main room.
"Trust me, I'm still trying to figure that out." Kara said.
"She had good intentions, but was completely out of line in performing them." J'onn said.
"We need to get to the Phantom Zone to get her and my father out." Kara said.
"Think that we can get Novu to let them both out. He did say he owed you." Nia said.
"I have a feeling that if that were an option, he would've just shown up and done it. We're on our own." J'onn said, right as the sensors went off.
"What now?" Kara asked as she went over to the scanners.
"We're picking up a ship heading straight for us." Lena said.
"Do we have an id on it, since this is the last thing I need." Kara said.
"We're working on it now." Winn said as they worked on the scanners, right as a transmission came in.
"The ship is hailing us. But how could it even know that we're here?" Lena asked as Kara, Nia, Mon-El and J'onn all shifted to the forms of Supergirl, Dreamer, Valor and Martian Manhunter.
"Put them through and activate the external defenses, since I'm sure we have some." Supergirl said.
"A forcefield and a mini positron cannon." Winn confirmed.
"Start charging it, but hold your fire until my command." Supergirl said.
"On it." Winn said as Lena put the transmission through and they all grinned and calmed down slightly when they saw who it was.
"Attention tower, no need to charge your weapons, this is the Legion cruiser requesting permission to land." Querl Dox, aka, Brainiac 5, said with a grin as they saw him sitting in the pilot chair of the Legion ship.
"Brainy, you are a sight for sore eyes, but you could've called us before our sensors detected your ship." Supergirl said.
"We wanted to surprise you, though I can now see that was a mistake." Brainy said
"Yeah, things are really stressful right now and we could use our resident 12th level intellect here now, so land and get in here." Supergirl said.
"Wait, did you say we?" Dreamer asked.
"Oh yes, I did not come alone. Imra is also here with me and we also made a pit stop when we arrived." Brainy said.
"Where?" Kara asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You'll see when we get there." Brainy said as the transmission cut out.
"Whoever it is, I hope they're able to help us." Kara said now that her attention had been returned to the current problem, which was her sister and her father being trapped in the Phantom Zone.
"Well, of course I want to help my daughter." Alura Zor-El said with a grin as she entered the Tower with Brainy and Imra in tow.
"Mom." Kara said as she rushed forward to hug her mom.
"I've missed you my darling girl. Especially once Brainy here reminded me that you were alive." Alura said.
"Yeah, how do you guys remember the old world?" Nia asked.
"Because of him." Brainy said, gesturing to J'onn.
"Me?" J'onn asked.
"It makes sense. After all, martians do have some of the longest lifespans in the universe, since you did live to the 31st century in the old reality." Mon-El said.
"And he did again and as soon as he found Imra and I, he restored our memories and told us to return to this time period immediately, though he did not tell us anything else, nor would we allow him too, since we cannot tell you too much about your future, especially when we don't know it." Brainy said.
"Okay, but how did you restore my mom's memories, since I'm guessing that you didn't bring older J'onn with you." Kara asked.
"We did not, but fortunately, there was a backup option, which I found in the Flash museum and before you say anything Kara, yes, you do have your own museum in the future as well, the Flash museum is just the one that had what we needed." Brainy explained and Kara smiled, happy to hear that.
"So what did you find?" Lena asked as Imra held out a device.
"Your friend Cisco Ramon created or possibly will create this device to work the same way as J'onn's powers do and restore the memories from before the crisis to people. It was heavily damaged after so many years, but luckily, Brainy was able to repair it with ease, so, after we arrived in your time and this time we actually did make it to the correct time period, we stopped at Argo City to use the device to restore Alura Zor-El's memories." Imra said.
"Well your timing couldn't be better. J'onn, can you please go and get her?" Kara asked and J'onn nodded as he flew out.
"Who's her?" Alura asked.
"Crisis had many benefits. Including a few people we thought were dead coming back to life." Kara said as J'onn returned and Alura was stunned at who she saw.
"Astra." Alura said to her twin sister.
"Alura. It's so good to see you again." Astra said as she hugged Alura, much to her sister's surprise.
"I thought you hated me." Alura said as she hugged her sister back.
"I did. But Kara helped me realize that you were right. My way was not the right way and it turns out that you and Zor-El did heed my warning after all, since she tells me that Argo City survived." Astra said and Alura nodded.
"I'll take you there myself when I return." Alura promised.
"Speaking of dad, there's something I need to tell you about him." Kara said.
"What?" Alura asked.
"When J'onn's brother was released from the Phantom Zone, he told us that he came across someone who looked exactly like dad in the Phantom Zone. It sounds like he sent himself in there in order to protect himself from the death of the rest of Krypton." Kara said, stunning Alura.
"My husband is alive." Alura said.
"Yes, and for some reason, Alex decided to send herself into the Phantom Zone alone to find him." Kara said.
"Guess it's a good thing we're here then, since the Legion ship is fully prepared for a rescue mission." Brainy said.
"Good. And mom, no one knows more about the Phantom Zone then you, since you're the one who created it, or at least the anchor point to it." Kara said and Alura nodded as they got back on topic.
"Do you have the projector Alex used to send herself into the Phantom Zone, since it should have the exact coordinates of where she was sent within the zone." Alura said.
"We already checked, but even if that did work, she's likely long gone from there and it wouldn't do us much good if we go in without a way out." Kara said and Alura nodded.
"Still, there are several things we need to go over before you go back there, especially the phantoms themselves." Alura said.
"Yes, I honestly think that Kryptonians were the kindest species to send people to the Phantom Zone since at least we put them in stasis pods aboard a fortress, protecting them from the Phantoms, unlike every other species, that just dumped their criminals in and left them at the mercy of the Phantoms." Astra said.
"Okay, let's get to work." Kara said as she tried not to think about her family being stuck in the Phantom Zone.
When Alex came too, she was surprised to find herself in some kind of cave.
"Where am I?" Alex asked.
"You're in a safe place young one. Or as safe as you can be in this forsaken place." a new male voice said and Alex turned to see a man sitting across from her, next to the fire.
"Who are you?" Alex asked.
"My name is Zor-El. I rescued you when you arrived here." Zor-El said, stunning Alex.
"Zor-El, father of Kara Zor-El of the great House of El of Krypton?" Alex asked.
"Yes, how did you know that?" Zor-El asked.
"I know your daughter." Alex said, making Zor-El perk up.
"You know Kara, is she okay?" Zor-El asked.
"Yeah, she's okay, but I actually came here to find you for her." Alex said.
"What?" Zor-El said.
"Okay, this won't make a lot of sense to you." Alex said as she began to explain everything to him.
"Why should I believe any of this?" Zor-El asked, trying to wrap his head around the idea that not only had his daughter survived, but apparently his wife and Argo City had survived Krypton's destruction.
"Because she gave me this." Alex said as she pulled out her sister's necklace.
"That necklace, I saw my wife give it to my daughter right before she left Krypton." Zor-El said.
"And Kara gave it to me as proof that I knew her, though I admit, I did go a bit off book to find you." Alex said.
"Well, I appreciate the effort Ms. Danvers (Alex had told him her name while she'd explained everything to him), but I'm afraid it was pointless. There is no escape from the Phantom Zone. Honestly, death would've been preferable over this." Zor-El said.
"Look, I know it has been difficult for you, but if there is one thing your daughter, my sister, has taught me, it's that you should never lose hope. Especially since now they know that we're both here and they'll be coming for us to save us both. We just need to hold out until then." Alex said and she could tell that Zor-El wanted, but didn't want to believe her.
"They're going to come for you Zor-El. You will get to see your wife and your daughter again. Plus, you do have another reason to want to come home." Alex said.
"And what is that?" Zor-El asked.
"Your daughter fell in love with the prince of Daxam and he wants to marry her." Alex said with a smirk.
"I'll kill him." Zor-El said and Alex chuckled, but she smiled, knowing that her comment had the desired effect, since wanting that overprotective father instinct was exactly what Zor-El needed to give him a reason to hope for rescue.
