Chapter 3

"So, is it true or was Frost messing with us?" Cisco asked.

"No, she was telling the truth and before you guys get mad at me for not telling you, it wasn't because I didn't think you'd be supportive, because I know you would be." Caitlin said.

"Then why did you tell us?" Barry asked.

"Because I'm not sure if those feelings are really mine, or just the feelings of the me from this world, since before Crisis, I thought I was straight, but now I don't know." Caitlin said.

"I get it. You're not sure if those feelings are really yours or if they were forced on you by Crisis." Barry said and Caitlin nodded.

"Well, you are a scientist. Why not try using the scientific method, perform an experiment." Cisco said.

"Like what, go out with a guy and a girl and see which of them I like better?" Caitlin said.

"Yeah actually." Cisco said.

"Look, even if I were to consider that, there's a reason why I haven't done any dating since Julian." Caitlin said.

"Really, why?" Iris asked.

"Frost. She and I are very different people with very different preferences in regards to dating, especially since she's been telling me nonstop since she woke up that she's still straight." Caitlin said.

"So what you're saying is that it's possible that you and Frost could end up wanting to date two different people. Which is awkward." Cisco said.

"Exactly. Don't get me wrong, I love Frost like a sister, but there are a few downsides to sharing a body and mind with her." Caitlin said.

"And what did she just say?" Ralph asked, since he probably knew Frost better than any of them except Caitlin.

"That sharing a body with me wasn't ideal for her either." Caitlin said.

"You two didn't use to feel that way." Iris said.

"True, but that was before I started letting Frost take the wheel and I guess that since she started to live her own life, we've begun to grow apart. And honestly, the only way dating would work is if we found someone that we both liked and they liked both of us in return, which I don't see happening. Which means that even if we found two people were incredibly understanding, it wouldn't be fair to them or us to have to share them." Caitlin said.

"Well, then maybe that's another reason to find Professor Stein." Barry said.

"What do you mean?" Caitlin asked.

"Stein is one of the foremost experts on transmutation, plus Caitlin, you and Frost are basically a frosty version of Firestorm, so I think that he might be able to help us find a way to give you and Frost your own bodies." Barry said.

"You want to split us up?" Caitlin asked.

"I'm not saying we have to, I'm just giving you the option, since it sounds like things might be a bit easier for you both if you separated. You could each live your own lives all the time instead of only half the time." Barry said.

It's something to think about. I mean, I'm sure we'll both feel better about not having to hear each other all the time. Plus, I have to admit, it would be nice to not have to keep watching this is us. Frost said.

"What did I tell you about that?" Caitlin said.

"What did she say?" Cisco asked.

"Aside from dissing this is us, she also said that she's game for this and I guess it might be nice." Caitlin said, though she was honestly a bit wary about this.

"It's not like we're making her disappear Caitlin. We're just giving you both your own lives and I think that you might find it nice to not have to worry about her blurting stuff out at random anymore." Cisco said.

"Okay, fine. But let's focus on getting Firestorm sorted out first." Caitlin said and they all nodded in agreement.

"Once we have a working matrix, I'll do a sweep of the city to see if I can find Firestorm and after we separate them, I'm gonna have J'onn restore their memories." Barry said and they all nodded in agreement with that plan.

The following morning found Barry walking back into CCPD to find the once again Captain Singh standing there.

"All, welcome back, you sure you're okay to be up and walking so soon?" Singh asked.

"I got the all clear Captain and honestly, I'd like to get back to work and catch up on what I missed." Barry said and Singh nodded.

"Just wanted to be sure before I let you get to work." Singh said.

"I'm assuming you've had someone cover for me while I was in a coma." Barry said.

"Yes, that's the other reason why I'm here, because I'm going to have to tell your substitute to vacate your lab, since he was made aware that he would only be our top CSI until you returned, so now you're getting your lab back." Singh said as he and Barry walked towards his lab.

"Thanks Captain." Barry said as they entered the lab to find a familiar face waiting for him.

"Albert, a word." Singh asked as Julian Albert turned to face them.

''I take it this is my eviction notice." Julian said.

"Yes, now that Allen is back, he will be retaking his position as our top CSI tech and I'm giving him back his lab." Singh said.

"Understood. I'll clear my stuff out and be back in the regular labs by the end of the day." Julian said.

"Actually, I'll let you finish your current case before I take back over." Barry said, feeling bad about displacing Julian, but he also knew the advantages of having the lab to himself and that outweighed his guilt.

"Thanks." Julian said as he resumed his work.

"I thought you'd be eager to return to work." Singh said.

"I actually have to spend today at either Star Labs so they can make sure that I'm completely clear and Iris also wants to bring me up to speed on all the wedding plans she made while I was in a coma." Barry said and Singh chuckled.

"You have my sympathies on that Allen." Singh said.

"Yeah, don't tell Iris I said this captain, but do yourself a favor and never get married." Barry said.

"I'll tell Rob what you said, though I may actually consider that." Singh said and Barry laughed as they bumped into another familiar face.

"Eddie." Barry said, relieved to find Eddie alive.

"Hey Barr, welcome back to the land of the living." Eddie said, though Barry could swear that he heard some resentment in Eddie's voice.

"Maybe now you'll start trying to find your own girlfriend instead of continuing to make advances of Allen's fiance." Singh said, causing Barry to look at Eddie sharply, the resentment in his voice now making sense.

"You tried to make a move on Iris?" Barry asked, since while he understood Eddie's attraction to Iris, it was not okay for him to be hitting on her while he was in a coma.

"Barry." Eddie said.

"Does Joe know about this?" Barry asked.

"He does and he was not happy about it." Singh said.

"Barry, Iris was spending every moment of her life waiting by your side, I thought that you'd want her to keep living her life." Eddie said.

"And you'd be right. If I was actually dead. But I wasn't. And you had no right. You knew that Iris was engaged, hell, you were there when I proposed." Barry said.

"Barry, I'm sorry. You know I was attracted to Iris and I had a few moments of weakness after you fell into your coma." Eddie said, truly apologetic and ashamed of his actions.

"Iris set him straight though. When Eddie attempted to flirt with her, he forgot that your future wife is a former air force lieutenant. It was very entertaining to watch her lay him out." Singh said.

"Please tell me you got it on video." Barry said.

"We did, I'm surprised Joe hasn't shown it to you yet." Singh said.

"Barry, how can I make this right?" Eddie asked.

"I'll let you know when I figure that out. In the meantime, keep your distance from me and from Iris. And don't expect an invite to our wedding." Barry said coldly, since while he was happy that Eddie was still alive, that didn't stop him from being pissed about Eddie making a move on Iris. That seemed to be another change from Crisis, since the Eddie he'd known never would've done something like that.
