"You sure you don't want backup Khalil, I mean, I know you and Painkiller are great, but I also know that the only thing that's kept you both alive is the ASA didn't know where you were. Once you get to the Pit, there's no going back." Phillke said.

"I appreciate it, but the only life I'm willing to risk is my own. Considering that Argus and the ASA are about to clash, there's gonna be a ton of gunfire in there and while I should be able to handle it and use the chaos to my advantage, I'm not willing to risk your life." Khalil said.

"I appreciate that, but I'd still feel better if you weren't going in alone." Phillke said.

"You know I'm never alone Phillke." Khalil said with a grin as suddenly his expression turned serious and Phillke knew that it wasn't Khalil he's talking to anymore.

"He's got me." Painkiller said.

"Just be careful. And remember, you only want the guys wearing ASA gear. You kill an Argus agent and you'll definitely get locked up and this time, you won't have me to help you." Phillke said.

"Yeah I know. And don't worry. I won't kill anyone who doesn't have it coming." Painkiller said as he got out of the transport Phillke had gotten them and headed towards the Pit.

"So, how exactly are we getting in?" Lightning asked her dad as they landed near the Pit's entrance, right as Argus vehicles pulled up and joined them, which Thunder, Wylde, Spartan and Lyla got out of.

"I was thinking we'd knock." Black Lightning said with a grin as before either of his daughters could do anything, he blasted the door off its hinges.

"I wanted to do that." Lightning complained and Thunder looked like she wanted to do it as well.

"There are plenty of other doors to break down. Now go, remember your assignments. Lightning and I will engage Williams and any other heavy hitters, Thunder, you, Spartan and Lyla go after Odell and Wylde, you take the Argus team to rescue the other metas." Black Lightning said as they heard alarms blare.

"Copy that." Lyla said.

"And remember, we need Odell alive." Black Lightning said.

"Understood." Thunder said as they entered the Pit, only for Black Lightning to quickly put up an electricity shield to stop a wave of bullets from ASA commandos from hitting them.

"Thunder, if you'll please?" Black Lightning asked.

"With pleasure." Thunder said as she slammed her foot into the ground and generated a shockwave that sent the ASA agents flying, really enjoying having her powers back.

"Let's go." Black Lightning said.

"Uh guys, we've got a new complication." Gambi said over the comms as his feed of the Pit from their surveillance system picked up a new player, one that he honestly should've seen coming.

"What kind of complication?" Lyla asked.

"Khalil is here. I repeat, Khalil is on site." Gambi said.

"Where is he?" Lightning asked.

"It looks like he slipped in through the garage and is working his way towards Odell's office." Gambi said.

"I'm going after him." Lightning said.

"No you're not, stick to the plan. Remember Jen, this Khalil doesn't know you." Black Lightning said.

"Dad, I'm the only one who stands a chance at taking him down long enough to give him a memory reboot, so that he will remember me." Lightning said and then before her father could stop her, she rushed in the way Gambi directed her.

"I'll go make sure she doesn't get herself killed." Thunder said and Black Lightning nodded in agreement as his older daughter ran off after his younger one.

"Mind telling us what was about?" Spartan asked.

"Khalil Payne was Jen's boyfriend in the old reality. It's a long story, but in the old reality, after he was killed, the ASA turned him into a cyborg killer and we learned in this reality, things went a similar way. Jen's been obsessed with finding him ever since." Black Lightning said.

"Okay, back on mission. Let's get to work." Lyla said and they nodded as the rest of them returned to their original assignments, since luckily, Lightning and Thunder going off to find Khalil didn't too badly affect the rest of the mission.

A majority of the mission went smoothly, since like he predicted, Black Lightning was able to trick Williams into overloading his nervous system with electricity and it turns out that he was their only real heavy hitter, so he was free to help capture Odell.

Which was why he, Spartan and Lyla were gathered outside Odell's office and after taking out the door, they quickly took out his guards.

"You wouldn't kill an unarmed man." Odell said.

"You're right I wouldn't. But I am going to make sure you stand trial for your crimes." Black Lightning said.

"I've committed no crimes. I'm a patriot." Odell said and all three of them could tell that like Amanda Waller, he actually believed that, not that Black Lightning knew who Amanda Waller really was.

"More like a maniac. Child abductions, experimentation on innocent people, forcing metas to be weapons, the list goes on and on. Your time is up Odell. But before I hand you over to Argus, I have one question for you and the condition you're handed to Argus in depends on your answer." Black Lightning said.

"I've got nothing to say to you." Odell said.

"Oh, I think you do. Now tell me, where is Tobias Whale." Black Lightning demanded.

"And why would you want to know that? You already know that he's in the ground, since you're the one who put him there." Odell said.

"We both know that's a bunch of BS. Tobias Whale is like a cockroach and we both know that he hasn't been squashed, thanks in part to you. So where is he?" Black Lightning demanded, but Odell didn't say a word.

"Fine, have it your way." Black Lightning said as he blasted him with electricity.

"This is for everything you've done." Black Lightning growled before he stopped and tossed Odell at Lyla's feet.

"He's all yours Lyla. I'm gonna go make sure that my daughters don't get killed." Black Lightning said and Lyla nodded as she pulled Odell to his feet and placed the cuffs on him.

Right as Black Lightning left the office, he found Painkiller standing there.

"I'm only gonna ask this once. Give me Odell. He and I have unfinished business." Painkiller said.

"I'm aware. But I also know that killing him is not justice and it's not true vengeance either." Black Lightning said.

"It's still vengeance." Painkiller said.

"No it's not. It's giving him what he wants, since if he's dead, his suffering ends. Or at least the suffering that you can see. If you truly want justice, then you let him live out the rest of his life in prison. Live knowing that he lost everything and that he's nothing. Don't let his suffering end simply because you have an itchy trigger finger. He needs to be shackled, humiliated and caged like an animal. Just like the one he tried to turn you into." Black Lightning said.

"Good speech and good points. But I still want to punch him" Painkiller said.

"You'll get your chance. But for now, I'm sorry about this." Black Lightning said as he blasted Painkiller back and knocked him out right as Lightning and Thunder arrived.

"Get him to the Sanctum and keep him restrained until we get back." Black Lightning said and Thunder nodded as she and Lightning picked the cyborg up and dragged him out of the Pit while Black Lightning stayed to ensure that the rest of operation went off without a hitch.
