Chapter One Hundred Seventy
Kefira was so thankful when Madam Pomfrey gave her the okay to leave the Hospital Wing. It was late afternoon, which meant that lunch was already over and there was still some time before dinner began. It would give the girl the opportunity to head back to the Common Room and reassure them that she was alright. While she had stubbornly protested against them helping her or bringing her to the Hospital Wing, she was grateful that Hermione, Parvati, and Lavender decided to go against her wishes and drag her to the Hospital Wing.
At the mentioning of being sick, Kefira protested because she hated the word labeling her. It had labeled her long enough when she was just a baby and while she was growing up, she didn't want to be sick anymore. She just wanted to enjoy her life to the fullest and prove people wrong. But her stubborn nature often led her to forget that every human whether they were born extremely healthy or not had their limitations. Even wizards and witches who wielded magic were not saved from everything. It was something that Madam Pomfrey made sure to mention.
She was told before left that if she was feeling sick that she had to speak up about it and not just pretend it wasn't anything until it hopefully went away. Kefira promised the woman before she left with Neville.
Neville glanced over at the girl as they walked beside each other, watching as Kefira had tied her blanket around her neck and was making swooshing noises with her mouth.
"What are you doing?" He questioned with a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Pretending to fly," she laughed. "My sisters and I used to do it all the time when we were all younger. That was until Mum told us to stop."
"Why did she tell you to stop? Because of the swooshing noise?" He asked curiously.
"No," Kefira giggled. "It was because Lottie slipped on her blanket and fell down the stairs. She chipped one of her teeth and Mum was furious. But it was the greatest thing watching Lottie walk around with the chipped tooth. It was one of these ones."
She pointed to one of the front two in the middle. "Luckily, though, it was still one of her baby teeth so it fell out and another one grew back. But it was great while it lasted."
"I bet Lottie didn't think so," Neville pointed out.
"Oh, but she did, Nevs. She was able to stick a straw through it and she thought it was the funniest thing. We called her the one-tusked Walrus for the longest time when did that."
"You and your sisters have..."
"Problems?" She finished for him. He laughed and shook his head.
"No, I was going to say big imaginations," he told her. "I don't see it being problematic."
As the two arrived back to the Gryffindor Tower, Kefira was immediately greeted by Elizabeth, who seemed very relieved to see her.
"Are you feeling better?" Elizabeth asked her.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Elizabeth," Kefira reassured her. " It was nothing to worry about, it was just a cold or something."
However, while Kefira seemed confident that it wasn't something big, Neville couldn't believe that. He was sure it had been something serious but he was just thankful that Madam Pomfrey had been successful in helping the girl. He figured that Kefira was just putting on a strong face for everyone so that they didn't worry about her, but mainly so she could put the idea of her being sick out her mind.
He remembered back during the Boggart lesson in Professor Lupin's class when Kefira's boggart transformed into what she had feared the most. Unfortunately, the girl didn't fear spiders, snakes, or banshees like the other students. She didn't fear people like their professors, what she feared the most was getting sick.
Neville had to believe that she fought so hard against the idea being sick that she placed her body under a strain until she couldn't anymore. Luckily, she had some incredible roommates that while they all weren't best friends they had looked out for their fellow Gryffindor.
As soon as they gave the password, Elizabeth swung the portrait open and Kefira was greeted by Seamus, Dean, and Ginny who quickly ran over to her. She was mostly surprised by their hugging as none of them ever seemed to be the hugging type. Ginny nearly squeezed the life out of her causing her to squeak as all the air escaped her lungs.
"By the feel of it, I would think that you all missed me," Kefira said as they finally released her. She rubbed her ribs but kept the smile on her face.
"Of course we did," Ginny said. "We were worried about you too. What did Madam Pomfrey say before she let you go?"
"She said I was fine," Kefira said not going much into detail. " I just need t be a bit more aware of myself and let people know when I'm not feeling well, that's all."
"She's right," Seamus said. "Why wouldn't you tell us? You could have gotten hurt, Kefi. I swear you do some of the dumbest stuff sometimes!"
Kefira walked over and patted him on the back. "Don't worry, Seamus, I missed you too. You can drop the act now. I missed all you guys, it's so boring to spend all day sleeping. It was like being petrified again."
She watched as her friends became pale in the face before turning to face Ginny.
"Is Hermione, Lavender, and Parvati upstairs?" She asked.
"Uh, I know Hermione is, not sure about the other two."
"Either way, I do need to thank them. They're the ones who dragged me out bed last night. I'll be back down in a couple of minutes.
She headed up the stairs quickly and entered the dorm room to find none of the three, but she did find Faye resting on her bed. At the sound of someone entering, the girl sat up on her bed and immediately spotted Kefira walk in.
"You're back...so soon?" Faye said with a surprised look.
'Yeah, I know, Madam Pomfrey works wonders," Kefira told her. "I feel good as new."
"Did she say why you were sick?"
"Not really," Kefira shrugged. "It was probably just a fluke thing, you know?"
"Yeah...a fluke...well, I'm glad to see you're alright for now..."
"Thanks, I-" The last couple of words registered in the girl's head but before she could respond, Hermione appeared looking a bit tired but happy to see Kefira.
"How are you feeling? You didn't leave the Hospital Wing on your own, did you?" Hermione asked.
"No," Kefira answered. "Madam Pomfrey actually gave me permission to leave, I promise. And I'm fine. Just...fine."
