Chapter Eighty Two

Since Kefira had been so open about her feelings towards Neville, everyone apparently had an opinion on the matter. Not that she really cared what anyone thought, but she really wished that everyone would just let it go. After all, it wasn't anyone's business when it came to her feelings, they were her feelings and no one else. Fortunately, nothing really became awkward between her and Neville, in fact, it appeared the friends were closer more than ever, even if they didn't speak of their feelings with one another. They were content just to be in the company of one another.

Christmas break was coming up and Kefira was ready, she had to get through one more Potions class and then she was free. She walked in beside Neville and took her seat. Things had been quite weird between her and Professor Snape after the last detention she served.

She refused to talk to him or approach him outside of class as she normally would. Instead, she remained quiet and still in his class, which puzzled her classmates, but more importantly confused the professor.

Sitting beside Neville, she rested her chin in the palm of her hand and waited for the lesson to begin. Professor Snape made them suffer through the review of the  effects of Wiggenweld potion. Calling on each student individually to answer a question, if they answered it wrong, they lost points or were scrutinized.

Mainly scrutinized.

Once he ran out of questions pertaining to the effects of the potion, the professor's questions became more specific. The students weren't allowed to use their books to answer making them all the more nervous.

Except for Kefira, she knew the cursed potion all too well from the night of having to brew it probably more than a hundred times.

Professor Snape asked several questions before turning his attention to her. She looked away from him.

To say she was still angry with him was an understatement. She couldn't figure him out, she didn't understand why the man was so bitter and angry and she certainly didn't understand why he had to be so harsh with her. She couldn't bring herself to approach him after the last detention served, it was obvious that he was born to be a grouch, even if she didn't want to believe it.

Kefira wanted to believe that there was good in all people, it was how she was raised. She liked to focus on the good, rather than the bad, because of how people tended to focus on the bad when she was younger.

She could be loud and obnoxious, that was true. She lacked a filter as well, but all Professor Snape ever did was point out her flaws and she hated it. While she still couldn't bring herself to hate him, he certainly wasn't her favorite professor at the moment.

"Miss Walsh, how many lionfish spines are used to complete the potion?" Professor Snape asked her.

Severus knew Kefira knew the answer. She knew the potion better than any student in the classroom, perhaps in the school, but as she met his gaze, he quickly realized she wasn't going to give him the correct answer or an answer at all.

She just stared at him.

If she believed he didn't notice that she had been ignoring him for quite sometime now, she was sorely mistaken. He saw her outside the class, she was her usual loud and irritating self, but as soon as she saw him, her smile faded and she instantly reverted back to silence.

"Miss Walsh-"

"I don't know." Kefira replied calmly.

Neville's eyes widened at her response as he turned to look at her. He saw Kefira looking up at Professor Snape with a stern gaze that seemed to be competing with Snape's.

The whole classroom was silent before Kefira looked down to her desk.

"Ten points from Gryffindor-" Professor Snape said. Neville watched as Kefira clenched her fists under the table and frowned unsure what Kefira was going to do. She obviously wasn't going to punch a professor.

At least, he hoped not.

But before Professor Snape could go any further, Kefira took a deep breath and then looked up at him.

"Ten lionfish spines." she answered.

"It's too late-"

"One pint of Horklump juice."

"That's enough."

"Two drops of Flobberworm mucus."

"Be quiet!"

"Seven Chizpurfle fangs."

"I said be quiet you-" Professor Snape stopped himself by placing his hands on the table where Kefira and Neville sat.

Kefira kept her mouth closed.
