Julie's POV

"I'm sorry about today" I told Libby as we sat in the front room cuddled watching the telly

"It's okay! we were both daft for thinking it was a smart idea" she said trying to make me feel better

"It was pretty fun tho.. up until" we both looked at my leg that was propped onto the coffee table with cushions under for support

"Yeah" Libby said and we both laughed at the same time

"Idiots" I said shaking my head at our stupidity. The door went indicating that Jason came for the 4x4 god help us once mum opens the door. Just as I thought Mums already yelling

"You take that damn bike to where ever you got it from" she snapped, Jason rolled his eyes as he walked into the front room ignoring mum completely

"Hey there sport" he said coming over and kissing me on the forehead

"Hey" I said, Mam and Mum were just scowling at him from the front room door

"Hey Libby you taking care of my girl?" he said ruffling her hair making her laugh

"Nah she doesn't need taking care of" Libby said winking at me

"Jason are you going to get that bike out of me house" Mam said coming over to us with her arms folded across her chest

"You guys need to calm down a bit. She's fine" He said but in reality I wasn't fine, he didn't seem to care that my leg was bandaged up

"Fine!? are you having a fcking laugh mate!?" Mam hissed

"Julie do you want the bike?" he asked putting me on the spot. All eyes on me. I suddenly felt very small

"Um..." I said looking at mum and then mam

"See she wants it" Jason said before I could get a word in

"No it's not that I-" I began and was cut off again before I could say anything

"It's her birthday present why can't you guys just accept it" He said to mam who looked disappointed at me

"Will you shut up and let me speak!" I said taking him by surprise as he looked at me with wide eyes

"The bike was a nice present yes, But mam said from the beginning that it was dangerous and she was right look what happened. I'm sorry but I can't keep the bike" I said looking down at my fingers once I've said my part

"Are you sure? I'll put it into storage so that way if you ever want to ride it it'll be available" he said and I just nodded okay not wanting to argue over a stupid bike anymore

"Well that's settled I'll go get it" he said walking out to the back garden. Mam came up to me before following him out saying

"You're having a laugh if you think you're going anywhere near that bike again" Mum followed her footsteps and left Libby and I alone

"They give me a headache!!!" I screamed as they shut the garden door

"It's only because they love you" Libby said after laughing

"Do your grandparents do that?" I asked a little interested

"They smother me like a child. 'Oh Olivia be careful going up the stairs' 'Olivia let me blow on your soup it's still a little hot'" she said in her best old lady voice sending me into giggles

"You think they give you a headache? you still haven't met my nana and papa" she groaned falling over the sofa

"I can't wait to meet them" I said slapping her thigh playfully

"Oi! don't smack me! you're crippled I could beat you and walkout without
worrying about you running after me"

"Agh don't call me crippled!" I pouted

"Watch everyone tomorrow is going to give me hell" I sighed sadly thinking about what's to come tomorrow

"Fck them!" Libby said loudly

"Lib did you just curse!?" I was shocked she had never said a curse word before apart from 'sh!t' but that doesn't count

"Fck them!" She said louder

"Fck them!" I said and we both laughed

"I fcking hate them" I said slumping back into the sofa

"Me too man" she said resting her head on my shoulder

"One day we will be so successful that they're going to wish they were nice to us" I said remembering my foster mum Amanda's words

"Yeah I'll have them working at my place cleaning my toilets"

Julie's POV

"Hold on let us help you" Mam said putting the car into park and coming over to my side

"It's already embarrassing enough having crutches but now my Mam has to help me get out of the car" I whispered angrily

"Stop your whining" Mam said puting on my backpack for me before handing me the crutches

"Have a good day in school yeah? if anyone gives you a hard time just whack them with your crutches" she winked making me laugh

"I'll take that into consideration" I said slamming the car door shut

"Love you. Give us a kiss" she said pouting her lips

"Mam stop" I said trying to move but she held my hand

"Give us a kiss" she said again. I huffed and gave her a kiss on the cheek

"Have a good day at school!" she yelled as I walked with my crutches into the school getting looks from everyone

"Did you give mummy a kiss?" a boy said making an obnoxious noise with his lips

"Shut up you prick" I said swinging at him with my crutches. He grabbed the bottom of it yanking it out of my hand making me stumble I quickly leaned onto the other one steading myself. They all laughed as he waved the crutches out of my reach

"Give it back!" I snapped, I don't understand what kids get out of bullying

"Mr. Lenan! give Miss Tweedy-Walsh back her crutches and see me after school" Mrs. Jackson said making me smile. He handed them back to me quickly and all the kids hurried off to their courses leaving Mrs. Jackson and I alone

"What's happened to you Julie?" she asked looking at my leg

"Well remember how Jason got me a ATV for my birthday..." I said reminding her of the argument that happened at my house

"So your Mum was right then. A mum is always right" she said laughing

"Hey erm Mrs. Jackson. Could I ask you for a favor?" I asked hopeful

"Sure" she said looking serious suddenly

"Can I maybe just take my courses in the office for the rest of the week.. I know the kids will have it with me once they see what state I'm in" I said sadly. She took a second to think about it before nodding her head

"Go on to my office I'll call your teachers to send you the work" she said

"Thank you! thank you!" I cheered hugging her awkwardly as the crutches got in the way

Cheryl POV

Where is she?! I suddenly started to become nervous when Julie didn't come out after waiting outside of school for 5 minutes she's usually the first one outside. I see Olivia come out so I waved her over to me car

"Hey Ms. Cole.. what you doing here?" she asked surprised to see us

"I'm here to get Julie" I told her like it wasn't obvious

"Oh Julie's at school... Right I mean y-yeah she's at school" she stuttered

"Olivia you're a bad liar. Where is Julie?" I asked her sternly

"I-I I don't know. She didn't come to class today" she said a little frightened at me stair

"What do you mean she didn't come to class today? I dropped her off this morning" I said stepping out of me car

"She didn't come to class" she said and just then I see Julie coming out of the school doors

Julie's POV

I walked out of school to be met by a not so happy looking mam and a very frightened looking Libby. What had Mam done this time, I tried to go to them as fast as I could but these damn crutches were giving me a hard time

"Why do you look like someone just drained all your blood out?" I chuckled at Libby's face she looked white as sheet

"Why haven't you been to your classes" Mam asked sternly. I just looked at Libby knowing she spilled. She mouthed to me 'sorry'

"I was in the office" I said

"Why would you be in the office?" she went further into interrogating me

"Can we talk about this at home?" I said looking around and people had noticed mam

"Fine get in the car" Mam said helping me in

"Libby do you need a ride home?" Mam asked her

"No thank you Ms. Cole I have my car" she said politely. Mam nodded and came over to the drivers side

"You're dead" I told her with a smirk

"I'm sorry. You know I don't know how to lie" she said with a sad look

"I'm joking dafty! I'll see you later" I said as mam started the car. I rolled up my window and awaited her 21 questions

"Explain" Mam said looking at the road as she drove

"What do you want me to tell you? the kids were making fun of me and grabbing at my crutches because I was crippled! or that they were making fun of me because I kissed my mother bye that morning. Is that what you want to hear or were you hopping for something better. Like a cool daughter who doesn't get bullied at school constantly for trying to be different. I had to go stay in the school office and do my work because I was too afraid to face the kids in my class. Is that what you wanted to hear?" I said taking a deep breath and looking away not wanting to look or hear what mam had to say. She didn't say anything for a few minutes she just pulled off to the side of the road and killed the engine

"Come here" Mam said taking off her seatbelt and opening up her arms. I unclipped my seatbelt and fell into them breaking down in her arms

"Shhhhh it's going to be alright" she said kissing my temple as she soothed me rubbing my back. I sobbed into her arms, I've held in my tears all day. Why can't they just leave me alone

"T-they j-just don't quit" I hiccuped not being able to catch my breath

"Look at us" she said taking my face between her hands wiping my tears away

"I'm going with you to school tomorrow" she said determinedly

"N-no they'll never leave me alone for it" I hiccuped

"I'm going to give them a piece of me mind" she said kissing my forehead and letting my face go. I was actually a little curious to see what she would do

"Fine" I said pulling my seatbelt back on

"Good now give us a dimpled smile" she said smiling and I couldn't help but return a smile

"That's better. What do you say we get some ice cream?" she said starting the car and pulling off onto the busy street once again

"Some ice cream sounds good" I said grabbing a napkin and blowing my nose

"Really classy babe" she laughed

"At least I don't pick my nose and flick it" I said making her mouth open in shock

"I do not do that" she protested

"Yeah just like you don't pick your wedge and pop one" I giggled

"Keep going down that road and no ice cream for you's. I'll get me a cone and make you watch us eat it" she said seriously

"Please no anything but that" I said dramatically

"Alright tone it down" she winked at me taking my hand in hers and giving it a kiss

"Love you bubba" she said giving my hand a squeeze before letting it go

"Love you too"

Julie's POV

"Lay down let us put your cream on" Mam said later on that night as she pulled my shorts on for me. She helped me into bed comfortably as she slowly peeled away my plasters

"It's looking better" she said examining the scar

"It's the magic of the cream" I said as she unscrewed the cap and squeezed a generous amount into her hand

"Don't squirm around so much" she giggled as she applied it

"It still hurts" I said sounding like a baby

"I'm sorry peanut I'm trying to be as gentle as I can" she said wiping her hands with a paper towel before taking the fresh plaster and putting it over the wound, giving it a kiss before pulling the duvet over me

"Hey mam?" I said before she got up

"Yeah?" she said giving me her full attention

"You know I love you right?" I said needing her to know

"Course. What's brought this on?" she asked putting a piece of hair behind my ear

"I just needed you to know that"

"I love you too bubba" she said her eyes glistening with unwashed tears. She came over to me and kissed my forehead

"Let us cuddle you until you fall asleep" she said getting into bed with me

"I'm so proud of the girl you have become" she said spooning me from behind

"You made me the girl I am today" I said slowly closing my eyes

"Sweet dreams sweetheart" she said kissing my temple and holding me close as I let dreamland take over
