Part 183

Julie's POV

"Mam can we order some bubbly?" I pouted, giving her my best puppy dog eyes

"You're under age Jules" She said, going back to reading the menu. We decided to dress up and go to a nice restaurant seeing it's our last day here

"But it's my birthday" I sniggered, biting my lower lip

"I'm starting to think that was a bad idea! You're taking advantage of us!" Mam said playfully, the restaurant we were sat in was breathtaking - right on the water. You could hear the waves hitting against the shore - the nightly cool breeze sending shivers down my spine. It's a good thing I listened to Mam and got a shawl to throw over my shoulders - but I won't tell her that.

"No.. It was really cute" I smiled shyly, hiding my face behind the menu - it really was such a cute gesture and I couldn't wait to see when my 'Second Birthday' will be

"Okay I'll get us a bottle of bubbly" She said, her voice filled with happiness - I lowered my menu seeing her looking at me with so much sparkle in her eyes. We were really bonding on this little holiday, and I'd never forget the memories we created

"Really?" My voice squeaked

"Really. I'll even have them get us a bowl of strawberries for you" She winked, she called over the waiter ordering us the drinks - he gave us a few more minutes to look over the menu. I couldn't decide what I wanted, everything seemed so bizarre

"I don't know what I want" I said

"They have really good pasta dishes here" She said, I set my menu down with a huff - giving up on trying

"You can just order for me" I said, all I could think about right now was that cold glass of bubbly

"Here we are" The waiter came back over with a champagne bottle in a bucket of ice, along with a plate of sweet red strawberries - he took our glasses pouring us each a glass full. I was surprised he didn't ask for my age, and by the looks of it Mam was too. She winked at me almost hearing what I was thinking

"What are we having tonight?" He directed the question to Mam, she confidently ordered us our meals; specifically telling him how she wanted it done. Before Mam came into my life I was never confident - each and everyday she was making me into the woman she was. Confident in her own skin.

"How about you do tonight's toast" Mam said, raising her glass - gesturing for me to do the same

"Erm.. To new memories" I said, clinking our glasses together

"No, no you've got to look us in the eye when clinking the glass" She said, I rolled my eyes doing as she said

"What happens if I don't?" I asked, taking a sip out of the heavenly drink - it will always be my favorite; apart from orange soda of course

"You'll have bad sex for the rest of your life" She said seriously, and I could help but give her that 'Are you for real right now?' Look

"Mam you don't actually believe in that sh*t.. Do you?" She hesitated for a second before shrugging in response

"I believe in a lot of things, do you believe in horoscopes?" She asks, getting up and taking the seat beside me - seeing as the tables weren't as intimate as any restaurant we've been to. You had to practically shout across the table to speak

"I don't really know what that is, my science teacher once spoke about it but I zoned her out" I said, turning a bit so I could get a better look at her - she seemed to be really into this topic; her eyes were beaming with happiness as she spoke so enthusiastically about 'horoscopes'

"It's the zodiac signs! Yours is... A Taurus" She said, after little thought

"What's yours?" I asked, grabbing my glass of bubbly and taking a gulp out of it - I was suddenly intrigued in the topic

"I'm a Cancer, and your Mum is a Scorpio.. We are both compatible in every way" She smiled

"Are me and Libby compatible?" I asked

"When's Libby's birthday again?"

"October 3rd" I said, watching her as she tried to figure out what her zodiac sign was - what if we weren't compatible? Would it matter? I knew Libby and I were compatible and a zodiac sign didn't have to prove it

"I once read that Taurus and Libra ruled the planet of Venus.. I don't know if you know but Venus is-"

"-The planet of love" I finished her sentence

"Exactly, do I need to say anything else" She winked, wrapping her arm around my shoulder as we sat back taking in the nightly sky - sipping away our bubbly. We sat in a comfortable silence, you could hear everyone's low chit chatter but it was over powered by the sounds of the waves in the distance. This restaurant was perfect.

"White sauce pasta topped with truffle for you, and a garlic wine sauce with truffle for you-" The waiter said, setting down the dishes in front of us

"Would you like anything else?" He asked politely, Mam spoke as I looked at this oddly looking dish

"Mam.. What'd you get?" I scrunched my face, the pasta dish was topped with black like shavings of odd shaped 'truffles' I was guessing their names were

"Truffles are like mushrooms bubba, they're really nice with champagne" She said, taking a bite out of her meal - and by the looks of it she was enjoying the taste. So I put on a brave front and had some myself. I was a little surprised that I actually enjoyed it, I thought I would hate the freshly shaved truffles. It was a little earthy, with a hint of garlic and mushroom flavor. It had its own distinct flavor and I could see myself having this dish again

"Mmm this is good Mam" I said, twisting some pasta and forking down a truffle for her - slowly bringing over giving her a taste

"How come we never get truffle at home?" I asked, taking another forkful of food

"You can't just go get it from the grocery shop, it's imported and it's very fancy" She said in a deep posh voice making me giggle. We spent the rest of the night over light chatter - just enjoying each other's company was enough. The bottle of bubbly finished and I could feel myself getting a little tipsy from all the drinking we consumed. I was trying to hide it but my giggles were giving it away

"How much did you drink?" She asked as she paid the bill

"More than you" I giggled, when I had a glass too many I seemed to find everything funny and I became too affectionate - Libby is lucky she wasn't sat here with us; I would have had my tongue down her throat already

"Oh god! Come on, we have an early flight tomorrow" She breathed, sanding up and helping me to my feet

"Ooo no! I don't want to go" I moaned, she held me against her as she walked us out of the restaurant straight into the awaiting car

"We'll come next time with your Mum" She said, I couldn't seem to keep my eyes opened - I took the comfort against her side falling straight asleep.

Julie's POV

Never get drunk the night before your flight, I've had the worst hangover and I was glad this flight was almost over. We were minutes away from landing - I took enough painkillers to last me all year. Mam was snapping thinking I would overdose, I took it according to time. Two every three hours.. Should be fine.

"I'm so excited to see your Mum!" She squealed, clapping her hands together in excitement

"Mam.. My head." I moaned, covering my face - I don't even remember drinking so much

"Don't tell your Mum you were drinking" She reminded me for the hundredth time

"Got it" I rolled my eyes, we finally landed and the entire plane erupted with clapping - I hated when they did that; it always scared the sh*t out of me. We quickly collected our carry-on and saw ourselves out into the busy airport.

"Look for your Mum" Mam said, searching frantically for Mum - Mam was excited to know that Mum would be the one picking us up today. There she was stood by the baggage claim - and to my surprise Libby was with her too. Both Mam and I broke into a sprint running straight into our lovers arms

My lips automatically attached to Libby's - kissing her hungrily and passionately. I've missed her, all of her. I could hear faint shouting and clicks of the camera from the obnoxious paparazzi men. But we were in our own world soon zoning them out completely; enjoying the feel of Libby's tongue against my own

"Welcome home baby" She said breathlessly
