Chapter 6: First wish.

Megan

"I can't wait to hear what your two wishes are. I will do absolutely anything you ask me to," he said with a suggestive wink.

Those words sent chills up my spine, not the bad kind, but I wasn't sure what to think of it. He was definitely blunt. Is that a bad thing? Knowing exactly where one stands with him. It should always be like that, should it not? Those thoughts kept my mind occupied as I made my way upstairs to my apartment, and by the time I reached my front door, I was sure, those attributes weren't bad in the least, but he was.

His image and the last few hours kept replaying in my brain as I got a shower and got myself ready for bed. Once I was tucked in cozily under the blanket I finally reached my conclusion about him. He is bad news. But, he is freaking exciting and fun too. I don't want a relationship now. Especially not with him. So, spending some time just for the sake of having fun won't hurt either of us, right? Right.

Those were my last thoughts before I fell asleep.

The following day I woke up feeling giddy at the thought of Smith and the previous night. I simply couldn't help myself. After having decided that I would keep in contact with him to have some fun for a little while, I looked forward to seeing him again as soon as possible. Furthermore, I was sure that for my first of the two wishes he owed me, I would ask him to be my plus-one at my uncle's wedding in two weeks. I would call him later that day to ask him.

Time at work always flew by quickly. There was a meeting with art directors, developers and designers and my fellow senior copywriters. We worked on an important campaign for a famous client, and we went through the final touches of the whole project which took us practically the whole day.

At the end of all the hectic hours, I looked forward to a nice afterwork drink with my colleagues at a bar near my workplace where we often gather to celebrate a successful completion of a project. We didn't get there together, but met at the bar because not everyone could leave the office at the exact same time. I was one of the last to arrive there, and some of them were already on their second cocktail. The atmosphere was cheerful and relaxed, as a deadline was once again met that day.

It was a modern bar with sleek interior design, black leather seats, glass tables and crystal chandeliers. The place was always filled with workers from our building as well as other offices in the surrounding area. The wall was decorated with countless photographs and paintings which were works by upcoming artists, and they were up for purchase. The owner of the bar was a big supporter of young budding painters, photographers etc. and even musicians, as there was live music played by new bands or singers during the weekends. The lighting was dimmed which just added to the cozy and intimate atmosphere of the whole place.

After taking a seat right at the empty leather seat that was reserved for me, I ordered some drinks and easily caught up with the number of cocktails if not having even more than any of my co-workers. Pff. Lightweights. There were ten of us at the far end of the bar, eight females and two male colleagues. Even the guys, I outdrank without breaking a sweat. I didn't know if I should be amused, shocked or ashamed about it. Nope, not the least bit ashamed.

Maybe I'm actually an alcoholic and I just don't know it. Nah. I can go without a drink with no problem at all. So, I'm not an alcoholic, right? Eve asked me what I did over the weekend and thus interrupted my internal debate about my possible alcohol problem which was a relief.

I told her about the disastrous scene at the club on Saturday where I kneed my date and I met Sam. That made her laugh. She knew me well enough to know how very easily I fell for such guys, and how much I hated them too.

I had some sort of an ambivalent relationship with bad boys because I knew they were trouble alright. Furthermore, my impeccable radar always warned me on time about them, yet I simply couldn't help myself from getting closer to those troublemakers. There was a thrill and excitement in their aura that comes along with them that had always been irresistible to me to the point of idiocy.

Then I told Eve about Smith and our time at his bar. My vivid descriptions of him and our teasing during the billiards and darts game made her eyes widen. She giggled all the while like a school girl especially at the mention of my sly trickery to distract him from hitting the bullseye for the third time. I had to cover her mouth when she squealed after I told her that it had worked like a charm and that he then was to grant me two wishes.

"What will you make him do?" she asked, hardly able to contain her excitement at the thought of Smith doing whatever I want from him. I debated with myself if I should tell her and decided there was no harm in her knowing. However, when I filled her in on my plan of making Smith my plus-one to the wedding in two weeks time, her face fell, "What? That's it?" Those three words oozed of her disappointment at my admission.

"Why?" I giggled, "What did you expect me to ask him?" At that her face broke into a grin so wide and mischievous, she could have given the Cheshire Cat a run for its money. "Ohh," she began, enunciating that syllable longer than necessary, "I don't know?" Her attempt at feigned innocence made me burst out into a big laugh. "Yeah, you do. Tell me," I said after calming down.

"Well, he did say that he would do absolutely anything you ask him to," she wiggled her eyebrows at me all the while grinning like a crazy person, "So, why not have some fun? Some adventure with him?"

"Adventure?"

"Yep. Some exploring," she could barely contain her laughter at this point, "of the hills and valleys and the rock hard abs of his body on yours while you have some fun in the sack." Eve choked on the last words of her kinky thoughts and I couldn't help but join in her guffaw. My other colleagues looked at us questioningly and wanted to know what was making us laugh as much, but we both just shook our heads, as our conversation was definitely not meant for all of them.

"I was thinking," I explained to Eve my thought process, "that I will check him out during the wedding. How he is, get to know him more, and so on. And then I still would have one wish left. With that, I definitely can get more creative than the first." I winked at her and she nodded in understanding and agreement.

"How about I do it now?" I asked after finishing my fifth grey goose martini and waving at the waitress who just passed by to bring another one.

"Do what?"

"Call him and ask him to come to the wedding," I said while cramming through my bag to look for my phone, "I've been meaning to call him anyway, so why not do it now?"

"Oooh. Yeah! Do it. I'd love to hear his voice. I bet it's sinfully sexy and an ovary explosion trigger of a voice," she winked before giggling again. That made me laugh out loud.

"Let's go outside, so you can hear him better," I stood up and pulled her along with me. With my phone in the one hand and her wrist in the other, we made our way out. We were both excited; she to hear his voice, and me to know his reply.

However, we were both utterly disappointed when he didn't pick up his phone even after my third attempt. "Huh. He must be busy," I said before dialing his number again, "I think, I'll just leave him a message to give him a heads up, so he can think about his reply. Although, I doubt he would say no."

After leaving a message on his voicemail, Eve and I were about to enter the bar again, when my phone began to ring. I immediately assumed it was Smith and was excited to pick it up, but as I looked at my screen, I was even happier because it was Eden who was calling. Eve went ahead back to our group of colleagues after I motioned for her to go without me while I answered my phone.

"Ems, finally! I've been waiting for your call. Where are you?"

"Hey, Bobbie. I'm sorry I didn't call you sooner. I needed to get settled first."

"Settled first? Where?"
